Yeah, it's unclear if it's a module or just an AI asset for their Harrier module.

Then please, indulge us in your wisdom instead of only patronizing :P

My solution is to log flights manually in a spread sheet :P

So any update on this bug? I still have the bug (even feels worse now, before it sometimes went away, now it's constant.) I don't dare to try the hotfix either <.< //Jarl

60's Vietnam map (Real map resource/foundation)
Jarlerus replied to Jarlerus's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Many of the airframes you mention are planned or in production already. Also, Heatblur are making a Forrestal Class carrier. Should be proper for this era. As for the size of the map, we should be prepared for something similar as with Normandy, where parts of the map will be very low definition (i.e. Thailand), and only the A.O. (Vietnam, or even only south Vietnam) is of higher quality. //Jarl -
I've updated the list with the WIP-stuff from Deka Ironworks Simulations, and OctopusG. I've also put notes on the "in dev" entries that are not official 3rd party developers. I would appreciate if someone could verify/correct the service years on the I-16 Type 24 as well ^^ //Jarl

You should be getting activations regularly. I don't remember the frequency, but should be 1/every 3 months or something <.<

The Viggen was never a NATO aircraft. ;) #triggered Most of the time the Viggen pilots only spoke Swedish nonetheless. It would be nice with Swedish ATC, now that you mention it. At least on possible future Baltic maps <.< //Jarl
-
Yeah, you're probably right on the Huey. Does not stop us from pretending ^^ And for the map/objects issue: The Viggen is still fun, even without a Baltic Sea map, or Swedish ground objects ;) //Jarl
-
*cough Huey cough* But yeah, not really much from that era, a.t.m. Someone has to be first, though! =) //Jarl

Matt Wagner in some of his recent livestreams/videos stated clearly that it's on their to-do list. (I don't have time to find the exact one atm, sorry.) Edit: Aaaand now I see that Sryan posted it above =) (Well done Sryan ^^ )

I think you're close to the truth here. My guess is, extrapolated from how ED have worked so far, is that they'll address this issue once they get to the point where they'll do the weather revamp. (They've talked about updating weather effects at times) //Jarl

I think you are grossly underestimating what goes into software development by calling this task an "easy" one. Swedish proverb: "Many small steams... [make a large river]"

+1 ! This subsystem would suffice ;) //Jarl

I've read rumors and hints that ED have a rework on naval operations on their roadmap. I'm sure that includes carrier operations and interactions on flight deck, as described above. //Jarl.

Dude, you are all over the place! Referring to topics and things I didn't even mention :P It's quite difficult to communicate with you when you do that. Just chill more. //Jarl -

50? Well, then from information I'll deduct that you are from Zimbabwe. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b2/Comparison_gender_life_expectancy_CIA_factbook.svg) Nice to meet you. //Jarl -

Premises change over the years... Who knows what will happen when maps start being made by third party developers? -
I'm in a state of total dissonance. On one hand I want to believe the developer is doing things right. But on the other I see examples of the Gazelle doing things that are aerodynamically suicidal or impossible. (Even small things, like the tail assembly not aligning to the flight heading by aerodynamic forces with all the stabilization systems off, and hands off the controls) Please, Polychop, give us peace of mind -.-'

60's Vietnam map (Real map resource/foundation)

What are you on about? <.< Just to be clear; You are aware of the fact that the action in south Vietnam was distinctly different from the action in North Vietnam? (same goes for Laos + Cambodia, for that matter) Furthermore, I don't think the fidelity of the Laos and Cambodian parts need to be as high as in the Vietnam parts. South needs to be high fidelity, because of all the helicopter action that took place there. North needs higher fidelity as well because of all the low level flying (and bombing) that was done there. Laos and Cambodia saw, AFAIK, most action around the Trail, so the higher fidelity could be restricted to those parts. //Jarl -
60's Vietnam map (Real map resource/foundation)
Jarlerus replied to Jarlerus's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The conflict was active for years and years. I don't really understand what "massive attack" you refer to, as there where many different campaigns, operations and engagements, by all sides. But no "attack" on both north and south Vietnam at the same time. And the "Dynamic campaign" question for DCS is whole other topic ^^ -
60's Vietnam map (Real map resource/foundation)
Jarlerus replied to Jarlerus's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Having both north and south Vietnam in one map would be a very large map. I wouldn't mind a 2 part map, as separate modules, if needed. A resource that is missing to make a good Vietnam map is a library of aerial photography over Vietnam. That would help a lot with getting the look and feel of the map correct. //Jarl -
So I found this source: https://www.lib.msu.edu/branches/map/findingaids/vietnam50k/old/) (yeah, wasn't that hard to find, but w/e :P ) As these maps exist they would probably make a good foundation for a 60's Vietnam map. Either full, or just north or south. It's easy to see that the work would be a huge undertaking though, even with a good tool set in place from the start. Just wanted to leave this somewhere on the forums so it could at least inspire someone with the resources and skills to make it. =) //Jarl PS: I'm willing to be a part of any such project, if needed ;) Will work for food.
