  1. Thank you for the tips. I deleted the fxo and metashader folders with no improvement...checked everything else too. There is definitely an issue with this map. I can fly the Hornet and Tomcat on Nevada, Persian Gulf, and Caucasus without issue...never drops below my locked 60 FPS.
  2. Just flew around the map for the first time. Currently unusable... FPS drops to the 30's when flying over Guam. On every other map in any kind of situation, my FPS is locked at 60 and never dips below that. It's a free map so I can't really complain, but I have been really looking forward to it. My hardware exceeds what is recommended for High settings...and I have some things turned down, such as shadows. Also running at 1080p.
  3. I think the HB Tomcat is actually underpriced for what you get/will get...several F-14 variants, Forrestal carrier, A-6 AI, and of course a level of quality unmatched in flight sim. For me, the Tomcat is the most incredible aircraft I have ever virtually flown in my 30+ years of flight simming. Worth every penny and then some.
  4. Historically, it seems the F-16 has been much more popular...has it's own fan website (F-16.net), the Falcon 3.0 and 4.0, BMS sims, Iron Eagle movies, etc. It is also a widely used aircraft in many of the world's air forces. However, I think the Hornet is severely underrated. It unfortunately lived in the shadow of the Tomcat, didn't have a blockbuster movie about it (could change with Top Gun 2...even if SH), and it's performance is given a bad rap as well...I think due to a lot of people or sources using older models before the engine upgrade and/or valuing supersonic capability and top end speed more. I think DCS is really making people see the Hornet for what it truly is...a remarkably capable high performance aircraft that can stand up to the best fighters in the world. ED seems to be giving it the attention and respect it has deserved.
  5. Thanks draconus. I have seen those, but there isn't one for landing. Also, many of those videos aren't actually from HB themselves...don't think I would call them "official"
  6. Naval Aviation FBW on the Hornet seems easier for me to fly with than the Viper I don't have a FFB stick Much easier to refuel Internal ECM The subsonic performance of the Hornet is not that far behind the Viper's...comparing Lot 20 with upgraded -402 engine and a Block 50. Especially when the two FMs are nailed down. For the Hornet, acceleration and drag seem to be a bit off (slow) still. Prefer higher AOA capability
  7. I think you mean "burble" effect. It's still a WIP for the Hornet/Supercarrier. Like you said, it's a very realistic effect, so hopefully we have it soon.
  8. I 100% support and understand the need for audible feedback in the Tomcat. However, I think you guys have been rather heavy handed with the level of sound. A little goes a long way and a bit of lowering of the feedback volumes would create more of a balance between realism and audio feedback. All sounds seem incredibly high...Jester, missile launch "thump", fuel probe, switches, afterburner. For me, it actually takes aways from the realism and immersion and makes the Tomcat seem more of an arcade game. I have no problem flying the Hornet with it's much more realistic sounds. Also, not sound related but the heavy handedness in feedback can also be seen on the amount of "shake" seen with increasing and high AOA. Again, it is needed, but not at such a jarring level...of course unless the real Tomcat did shake that much.
  9. I noticed the same thing a while back. This explains it... https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/203901-resolved-tomcat-heading-drift/
  10. Absolutely fantastic and thank you so much! Really impressive flying there! I noticed that during your turn onto base and final, your are able maintain on speed/AOA with a centered E-bracket with what I can see...is no longitudinal (pitch) stick input, or extremely minimal and not noticeable on the input display. This is how is goes for me...I am all trimmed up and stable on speed/AOA, I then turn onto base and final...I add a bit of throttle to compensate for the loss of lift and adjust the throttle as needed to maintain the appropriate rate of descent. Throughout all this, I can no longer maintain on speed or a centered E-Bracket without significant stick input...all the way into the groove and onto the deck. I must be doing something wrong but I just don't know what.
  11. @BIGNEWYThis was posted over a year ago. Is there any chance we could get an updated one to see where the Hornet currently stands in regards to completion? Thank you!
  12. Yes, this would help greatly as well. To be able to see throttle inputs, and most importantly...the amount of longitudinal stick input used to stay on speed/AoA.
  13. Beware though that moving the head position will change the HUD and mirror views to the point where they are unusable. You may be able to find the right balance, but I could not and just resigned myself to adjusting the FOV.
  14. Take a look at this... https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/267546-f-14b-acceleration-correct/#comments
  15. Is there a chance that we could get an official Heatblur Case I landing tutorial video? With the new burble effect and of course how difficult landing is to begin with, for me seeing is better than reading when it comes to this stuff. In addition, it would be great to get a whole bunch of official Heatblur Tomcat tutorial videos, like the one's Wags provides.
  16. Let's not make this worse than it already is...everyone avoid @Mistang and stop responding to their posts. My OP has been answered...it's a work in progress. Drag and acceleration are being adjusted. ED's latest update fixed issues with how speed is displayed in the sim.
  17. Holy macaroni and cheeeeeeeese!!! What happened to this topic?!?! Listen everyone...I have been "flying" flight sims since the 1980's...yeah, that doesn't amount to much, but if there is one thing I know...it's that Heatblur may be the best in the business...ever. Let us all be nice to them, respect them, and most importantly...help them. They have the credentials, the SME's, and REAL Tomcat pilots. The DCS Tomcat is still a work in progress, but what we currently have speaks volumes to the level of perfection Heatblur is aiming to achieve. We need to give them a break and just let them work in peace. We will all benefit in the end. The F-14 Tomcat and it's pilots, RIOs, maintainers, and engineers/designers are being honored and remembered with such an incredible simulation in DCS. We virtual aviators and armchair pilots should give tremendous thanks to Heatblur for giving us the opportunity to fly such a legendary aircraft and experience what others did and sacrificed in real life.
  18. Thank you for such a wonderful response. Lesson learned...leave it to the professionals and trust in Heatblur.
  19. What is the current status and future plans for the manual?
  20. So with the latest update I saw that ED... Added new pitot model implementation (Correct KIAS, KCAS, altitude calculation) I was curious as to what this did so I ran my tests again and the results are interesting. Whatever ED did seems to have affected the Tomcat as well. The acceleration results I get now are different than my original ones. The Tomcat is faster (at least what is indicated by TS speed in the info bar). Most importantly though, I am not seeing the drag anomalies as indicated earlier in this topic. All acceleration, speeds, and drag effects seem correct at this time. So... maybe everything was always correct and as @fat creason has stated, the FM isn't too far off as is. It seems that just how speeds were indicated was wrong.
  21. It seems that HB made the burble a part of the Tomcat's FM. I wonder how ED is going to incorporate the effect? It would make sense to make it part of the carrier's physics/effects, because that is what it actually is and has nothing to do with the aircraft and it's FM. However, if ED made the burble effect a part of the carrier, we would get a double burble while flying the Tomcat...
  22. Your work on the FM is greatly appreciated and I couldn't even begin to imagine the complexity behind it all. With all due respect though...with the issues noted throughout this topic and others (turn rate, etc), the FM changes should bring incredibly noticeable changes. I think it would feel like a new plane.
  23. I have never recorded video before, but I have attached track files for review. F-14AClean.trk F-14APylons.trk F-14BClean.trk F-14BPylons.trk
  24. I don't doubt you at all...and of course there may have been an error in my testing. It was very simple and reproducible though...15C, 29.92, clear skies, no wind, 5,000ft MSL, full fuel, 0.5 to 0.8 with full AB and time it.
