  1. As titled, the default aggressor skins don't show when you place a USAF Aggressors (AUSAF) F16 on the map in ME. Kinda defeats the object if they're only available to USA, as friendly fire on our server isn't tolerated Quick fix rolled out to the livery LUAs (pretty please )?
  2. Thank you for that, nice insight I for one am not fussed about P2P textures, but server-side would be huge for sure. Hadn't even thought about it being for more than just the aircraft. Obviously the security implications are big with running server code but they always will be in this day and age. At least it's being considered - I guess I just add a 'clear ground texture' FARP to the wishlist
  3. Perhaps, but at least a LUA I can include in the miz file and it's plug-and-play - a desert FARP texture everyone needs to download and install individually (for now...) No worries, thanks all
  4. Is there a way to set the height of a static object? I'd like to set the height of a standard FARP to just drop by a couple of ft into the terrain in order to hide the grass and just leave the T and H's exposed (horrible green FARP in a desert and I don't want the ache of mods on the server etc etc). I thought there'd surely be a lua where you can just setObjectHeight(-5) or something but can't find it anywhere
  5. Is there any guidance on how to translate between the wings? Right wing comes up fine but I can only get left to be some weird mirror so all the text is backwards. Flipping and rotating various ways just misaligns the template... This is what I get with the 'correct' flip - the orientation is wrong and doesn't read correctly into the model

  7. Team Apache was legendary! Shoutout too for the 'Enemy Engaged' series of 'Apache/Havoc' and 'Comanche/Hokum'. Still got the discs ...speaking of Havoc... ...hmm, actually nah, I don't think Mi-28 or Ka-52 will make it into DCS now if we can't even get Black Shark 3

Can't remember where I saw the massive discussion on this as I can't find it now (possibly Hoggit/Reddit?), but everyone's raved on about P2P MP skin sync for a long time, the argument against being the trolls on 'serious' servers who'll friendly fire you from their bright pink and yellow hentai F14 As a half-way house couldn't there just be server-side skin sync? As-in liveries installed and available from the server not necessarily P2P? Means admins can package the correct livery set (with permission yada yada...) in the server for the mission and not have either missing/default liveries or players manually finding and downloading 100GB of custom skins for every server you fly on? Example being more 'closed' squadrons with their own skins. Potential for a moveable/definable skin cache defined in DCS menu, like MSFS has for its world data cache, so they're quicker to load if you fly on the same servers repeatedly. Could even allow None/Server Only/Server+P2P in the menu?

  10. +1 - especially with bigger missions and the game itself scaling up, it'd be nice to have a wider vocabulary. Some like the A-10 ones are aircraft specific, maybe something that 3rd party developers could/should be doing to package with their aircraft? Not sure myself how easy/difficult it is to create and integrate but defo possible, especially if there's an ATC overhaul coming in the pipeline.
  11. Once Marianas is done, could Caucasus be revisited? I know it had a spruce-up a few years ago, but given the new map tech and techniques learned could it be revisited again to get it to modern Marianas or even Syria standards? At least higher depth imagery and terrain quality/accuracy would go a long way, especially given it's a free map and you have return-on-investment to think about. If feeling flush then expanding up to Rostov-on-Don and across Crimea (maybe across Turkey at the same longitude) would be a big change, although I know Crimea has been talked about before as a contentious topic. If not a map boundary expansion then adding the multitudes of missing airfields, towns, power/rail lines would keep it current with the times. Food for thought, but something like this could be pushed out to people like Ugra to do if ED won't. Especially if it was done with a border expansion, I for one wouldn't mind paying for a 'DCS: Caucasus/Black Sea' module. You'd have the existing Caucasus as a free 'trial'/cut-down version included in DCS with Marianas, and the option to get a 'full' version as a module to write over the top if you want it.

    Tail Tip Number

    Hi all - anyone know how to change the tail tip number font? I can get the 3 under the nose, 2 under cockpit, and 3 at the base of the tail to change, but can't find how or where to change the tip number in any existing livery? I'd have thought it's on rude somewhere as tail doesn't work (and doesn't cover that area anyway) F-5E3_bort_number_nose... F-5E3_bort_number_rude... My f-5e3_number.dds is changed and referenced in the livery folder, but it's just the top two I can't find

  15. The US had an air superiority grey on a couple for a while, didn't they? Probably just a trial given you never really see them but still one for the hangar
  16. My 2p would be to bring in what's already in FSX - at least it seems like there'd be a base to work from, like AV8B: - Harrier GR9 - Intruder - Prowler - Maybe Corsair/Skyhawk/Buckeye? TBH I personally think more should be reaching-out to existing makers for other platforms to tempt/coax them into development. I know it's a long process of contract negotiations and workflow changes etc. but still worth a punt when we've already got an incredible C130 suite out there (Captain Sim), a probable replacement Hawk (Just Flight or full suite from IRIS of T1A/LIFT/200/T45 etc) and Tornado's (GR1 & 4 through JF again). Loving the whole SA terrain and asset pack though - getting the assets flyable (Sea King already confirmed etc.) would be ace. Don't see enough of that with other maps thus far. Tonka and Jag are my fave 'new' ones in this thread, but I'm biased :)
  17. WIP: 7 Flt AAC Hi folks, See below my WIP shots of British 7 Flight Army Air Corps. I started it yesterday evening from the official template and reference pics. Pics/info seemed more scarce than even I expected - not many people 'know' about these but I've loved the livery since I saw it as a kid. Whilst finding the best side-on shots to overlay, I actually found a couple in plain green with just the chevrons. It seems this was from when they were being repainted. As it's simple, I'll release a plain green one too (it's the base colour anyway). Known issues with the pics: It's a hybrid livery atm between the plain-green and full camo. The green won't have the orange engine, it's just helpful to paint it all now for scale/reference There are white panels by the engine - see below as I don't know how to change this. I'd like to keep them present, but in orange (maybe with Cobham logo), to make the engine a bit fatter like a 212 :thumbup: The medical cross on the starboard side shouldn't be there - deleting after this post! :helpsmilie: A couple of queries, though: The white panel by the engine - I have worked out where it is on the template, but when I colour it, it just disappears? How can I get this orange too (and maybe with a Cobham logo)? It seems something has gone wrong with a map file somewhere (no idea though, haven't touched one yet!). From pic 3 it seems the recesses and bumps don't line up with the texture. It's worst near the roundel. Any ideas? I'd quite like to implement dynamic letters/numbers rather than painting them on for the whole fleet. Hopefully the entire reg number and/or the ID letters on the tail and nose. Any advice around this? If this goes well, I might have a shot at an RAF 84sqn (grey/orange/white) skin - it's another one I haven't found yet. I appreciate it's a 412, but hey, this is supposed to be a 212 and it's the best we're going to get! Plenty of DHFS ones so I'll probably leave that skin be :) P.S. - If someone actually wants to do this instead of me then for goodness sake please do...put me out of my misery with my potato painting skills :music_whistling:
  18. Also in another, slightly late point, this has also never worked for me! A couple of others have also mentioned it but I'm on DCS Steam 2.5.1 and no matter what folder it's in the module doesn't show up at all. Has anyone fixed it? Running Win10 and DCS Steam.
  19. :music_whistling:I wonder if the ever-expanding fleet of awesomeness will expand as far as some more 'multi-role' aircraft? I notice the 747 already has AF1 livery, but we're missing the USAF 737/757 (C40/C32) to go with them. RNZAF have 757's too. :smartass: If they're already in the works then apologies, but if not then could they be considered? I've no idea how difficult or easy these conversions and paints are for you guys! Depending how serious this is then I'm seeing future scope for A330 MRTT and KC-767/E-767 etc. perhaps if these models are easily modified with radome/boom/drogue.

  22. Hi all, Quick one from me - I've downloaded some fictional liveries for F-15C but I want to change them to their proper countries in the menu. I've tried this with an RAF one for example but as soon as I add the code it disappears altogether and doesn't show up in the UK section. Is there something else I have to do? Code example: name = "1 Sqn" countries = {"UK"} Many thanks :thumbup:
