Man, I can't recommend the Tomcat enough!!, its the best module available to date to my taste at least, and it is not even finished yet :)...it is a very safe bet and a blast of a module!!;)

Aerial refueling needs some love

+1, they haven't mentioned it again afaik... -
Glad you could remove the names and are enjoying the skin, thanks for the nice words as well as all the rest of you guys!!, have fun!!

I don't have a super machine by any means yet the Tomcat runs AND looks absolutely AMAZING!!!...compared to the next best thing (the hornet), the Tomcat literaly blows it out of the water in both performance and visual quality ratio... Is obvious that HB just made a step forward and rised the bar doing a "future proof" module so you can spect a little bit of an impact due to that but just in a few months/years as hardware improves the Tomcat will still look and run amazingly (not the case for others)... that said, I do repeat that I haven't noticed any particular performance issue with the Tomcat except a slight one when flying as RIO, which makes perfect sense as there is a lot more things to load from the rear cockpit as the pilot cokpit is also being partially rendered, but nothing to do with HB. HB just made the FIRST plane to date that, imho, REALLY feels and looks as the real thing, it is simply the most photorealistic cockpit I have ever seen in a simulator (in general, not only Flight simulation)...Absolutelly every single square inch in the cockpit AND outside is filled with lots of detail, quality and love...they made every single little thing come to life with extremely detailed textures, materials (Oh my, the roughmets are soooooooooo goooooooood :notworthy: ), meticulously accurate normal maps and again love, huge amounts of love:)...look at basically everything in the cockpit and you won't find a single thing not looking exactly as it should and not responding to light exactly as it should, is simply out of this world!!:worthy: To all this you have to take into account the many new and unique features like Jesters AI, the carrier qualification chart, the several effects like turbulences, wing vibrations, etc. All this have an impact, a very welcome one imho :P Nothing comes even close to the HB's Tomcat at the moment, so I think the little price to pay for this is well worth it.;)

Thanks for the comments guys!!;) About removing the names, I tried to upload a file w/ and w/o them, but the size was about 500Mb compressed and almost 1gb once in the folder so the uploading of the server crashed twice and due to my limited internet connection I couldnt try again...anyway I dont think it is practical and as said already, this is how this plane looked (pretending it is a "D" version) so nothing wrong to fly it with the crew names.

Thanks everyone!! it is already active!, link in first post, enjoy it!!

I was going to ask the same...some improvements for the Tomcat vapours as I think there is margin for improvements. The best vapour effect to date imho are the ones in hte LERX of the Hornet (and probably the ones in the M2000 too, though not that good)... For some reason those vapes are "special" as they appear PROPORTIONALLY to the factors contributing to them instead of just appearing instantly and fade instantly. Also, they have a clear SHAPE, close to the one in real life. The rest of the vapes are not that good nor behave that realistically. The vapes in the Tomcat are odd so to speak, very sparce and with a weird shaping. Guess they are yet WiP. I would love to see some particular vapours for the Tomcat that are very usual for this plane in a similar way to the ones in the Hornet's LERX at both high and low speed: and if the conditions and variables are adequate this bigger one: it would be great to make them grow and fade smoothly like the ones in the LERX I already said.

Thanks a lot mates!!, really appreciated  I have been all the day working again a lot of things with the info given by DonJosh and also added many retouches here and there (even changed the whole bunny on the vertical stabs for a more accurate one)...also re-did the helmets to better adapt them to the original ones though not the same helmets so not 1:1 reproduction... Also ended changing the Buno to the one of hte F-14D although I found a Buno of a "Vandy 1" F-14B but well, after adding real crew names I decided to use the Buno of the "D" too. Screens are thus already obsolete :D, so I made a couple screens more with the last work: it is submitted again so it should be available very soon. Thanks everyone, hope you enjoy it!!:)

Thanks a lot guys!!:) I have cancelled the upload so I can make some changes prior to release, special thanks to DonJosh for sending me detailed info about crew names and even the real name of hte unit which is "Vandy 1" so I will also change this before releasing it, thanks man!! what Im not sure is about the Buno...not sure if I should change it as well as the F-14 "B" or "D"..hummmm...it wont be realistic anyway so maybe I will leave the F-14B and Buno and pretend this unit was given to the VX sqd :P will also try to include a "no crew" version though not sure if possible due to the size of the file... Hope it will be ready very soon!

Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Great, hope you can fix it soon ;) Btw, just finished a VX-9 skin Would it be possible to make different inflatable bag for the default textures HB??? I made a couple for this one so it doesn't look that "simetric"...it would make a nice improvement imho. more screens here The Tomcat really looks amazing in shiny black!!:D It should be available soon ;) -
Hi guys, just made this one, hope you like it!!:) I made as realistic as possible shiny material for it while at the same time trying to weather it a bit. Also made unique textures for the inflatable bags (which are identical by default), little changes in engine nozzles, etc. Would have liked to add real crew members names but I swear I couldn't find a single picture where I could read them so if you guys can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Hope you like it, the Tomcat is the only plane that looks cool in dark colors btw :D v1.1: -Fixed an incorrect shadow in the crew names of one side -Adjusted "vx-9" under engine's fin -Minor adjustment in one vertical fin art Link:https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305106/ Hope you like it!!

I have just posted it in the bug subforum mate... -
Just found this: seems to be a "pinch" in the mesh...not so noticeable in the clear skins but very noticeable in the dark ones. Also it looks worse when looked from behind thanks!

I found this "pinch" in the mesh: its not so visible in clear skins (it is there though) but Im doing a dark one and its very obvious...nothing to do with the textures. It looks even bigger in game. -

Whats the difference between "HB_F14_EXT_Exhaust_F110" and "HB_F14_Ext_F110" ?? they are identical except for the slight contrast difference...also only one seems to have an impact in hte nozzles. thanks! -
Awesome!!, thanks!

Roll odd behaviour at high speed
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Looks like so, according to the manual :"Roll SAS should not be used for situations involving flight at AOA above 15 units and should therefore be set to off for combat maneuvers."...however, it says "above 15 units of AoA", but the stuttering in the roll is happening at high speed and wings sweep full aft...guess it is also best to disable it when at high speeds although I noticed a big roll rate decrease when doing so at high speed. thanks! -

Any chance to include in the template the layers for the roughmets please??, I'm particularly interested on those. Thanks HB!! -
Roll odd behaviour at high speed
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
So you think it is also happening in the real aircraft?, then it's just fine...yeah, disabling the AFCS should help, thats why I though it could be an issue with it but if it is also happening in the real thing then it is ok  -
Totally agree!!! flying the A will be a challenge, I cant wait for it

Hi, just wanted to know if this is normal (I don't think so)...when at high speed (500+knots) and wing sweep full aft (manual or auto) when I roll at full lateral stick deflection, the plane starts to make odd roll oscillations and I can see the horizontal stabs moving up and down very hard even when I am not doing such movements...is there some issue with the AFCS?? I dont think this should be happening. I posted a track with the issue though, Im not sure it will work correctly as the tracks with the Tomcat are broken at the moment but here it is...note how doing RCtrl+Enter you can see the stick is steady at full deflection and these oscillations appear even then. thanks! f14 roll stutter.trk

Just wonder where (if there are ones) are the IR night vision strobes/external lighting in this hornet's version?...something that makes extremely visible your/others plane when in nigh operations while at the same time is not visible to the naked eye (IR). For instance, look how clear these strobes flash in this video: Not sure if these are IR strobes (just posted the video for having an example of what I mean) but is my understanding that there should be some kind of IR external lighting. All the external lights I know at the moment are visible in the naked eye spectrum and thus not suitable for nigh ops. thanks!

No problem!!, just wasn't sure to had been clear about the issue :) . Let us know what you find when you can
