Updating User File Info Resets everything to Zero
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to ElementLT's topic in Forum and Site Issues
any info on this? thanks! -
Ok mate, after deleting the axis bindings and doing them again the extreme sensitivity is still there...I just cant fly the plane properly that way, its not possible...as some people have already said it feels like the su-27 in "cobra" mode but all the time...do you really see a clear difference after doing that? I mean would it be possible that it is just placebo? (dont take me wrong, no offence, I just have a legit question) I think that the problem, after analyzing a bit with RCtrl+Enter controls view, is that the response IN GAME to the pitch inputs is NOT linear (nor proportional) in the simulation, I mean, 30% of warthog deflection translates to 60% stick deflection in game , then the next 50% barely does anything and the last 20% does nothing (dead zone) as I can see how the stick in the cockpit doesnt move although the warthog response is correct from 0 to 100% in the controls setup from DCS, windows or other joystick analyzing soft so not a problem with the joy. My response is something like this (sorry for the shabby look :P): This is apart from the FCS doing its thing. So I dont think is a problem of the FM but the way the inputs we make in real life with our joysticks translate into in game inputs...maybe they simulated how the real joystick works but if thats the case I think its a bad idea for the simulation as we dont have proper joysticks to simulate that, its like the detents in the throtles of the hornet, they have to find a way to "translate" the real thing to the simulation gear otherwise it would not be possible to properly use our gear.

Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
The effect you are describing is commonly called "radiosity" and is absolutely realistic and how the light works in real life... The main problem here, is the lack of AO info in both diffuse textures AND roughmet maps in some parts of the cockpit...that said, I agree with you that the bounced light from the environement avoids the AO info stored in the roughmets with that info (which is somewhat "dynamic") to be showed... My guess is that the AO is tied to the real time self shadows and thus, as the bounced light doesnt cast shadows it simply illuminates everything, avoiding the AO to work. Maybe a good solution would be to treat that bounced light as shadows in terms of AO so we have both things, AO and radiosity...anyway bounced light is softer and has less power (in general) so it would look almost how a real time G.I. would do but in a cheaper computational cost. Just m2c. -
Thanks buddy, will give it a try now  Btw, for those interested with a warthog and an AB detent, this is the curve I found best to work with my detents mod:

Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Thanks a lot Mustang, it works very well and at the same time the new bump maps are working so it looks better than before. I guess the fix is adding occlusion info in the textures/roughmets which is not present right now. Me neither, even less now that we have the PBR implementation, thats why I said the best solution is not adding AO over the diffuse textures but the roughmets red channel...that way AO will only apear when in the shadows. Anyway, AO has nothing to do with fake reflections which should be removed completely of course...an example of this is the black leather? thing under the hud (sorry dont know its name) which previously had pre-rendered reflectios but as you can see they have been completely removed in the new textures...the problem now is the thing lacks a lot of detail in the texture (it has a pure color) but other than that it looks good and has nothing pre-rendered on it. F-5 cockpit looks clearer because of the own nature of it...the canopy frame is very clear and clean so the light bounces happily on it and make looks whiter...not the case of the mig-29 and its "filled" frame. -
3D Models, Priorities and Progress
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to terminator363's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I totally agree with you...I appreciate a lot the effort of doing such a great models but I cant help myself wondering why giving a damn truck such a crazy detail while we have aircrafts models from lomac????...the new missiles /sams/antiair/etc models are incredible but why not doing a "ok" model for them and saving these incredible detailed models for AIRCRAFTS???, At the end of the day this is a flight simulator right??...I would love to have a b52 for instance, of such a great quality but all we have is a 30 poly model...meanwhile the silkworm model looks ready for a new hollywood movie...wouldnt it be better to have an ok silkworm model and a gorgeous b52 model????...and dont get me wrong, having such a detailed models is amazing but if resources and TIME are limited then I choose planes and flight stuff over other things, even more at the developing rate, otherwise at the time they update and release the su34 the hornet will need a full revamp...:music_whistling: -

Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Yeah, there is not AO layer over the diffuse textures (thats the difference with the old textures)...however I think that the real issue is that there is no AO in the roughmets as, since the PBR update, the AO info should be there instead of the diffuse textures so it "somewhat" behaves almost like a real time AO solution...maybe thats what they are trying to do if its still wip, clean diffuse textures and then store AO info in the red channel of the roughmets maps where it should be... Also hope they add more detail to both diffuse and material as now they look really poor and simple. Yes -
Thanks for the info!...wonder if you could give us some more about the pitch response in particular, it would be very helpful. Thanks again!

main modes bindings (A/A, A/G) are not working even the keyboard binds are not working, wth?¿?¿?, they look redish in the controls page...what does that means??? thanks!
-
+1...even with a huge 40% curvature for the pitch axis there is a point in the deflection of the stick at which the pitch goes crazy (pretty much the same as with a linear response)...it's almost impossible to fly it properly. I try very smoothly to start pulling the stick, there is barely any response, then a little bit more, almost nothing, a bit more and suddenly bang!! crazy pitch!!...no matter the trim, it behaves always the same...dont know if this is due to some kind of system implemented in the real life stick we are missing in our PC gear or what but it just doesnt work fine in the simulation...maybe there could be an alternative way to simulate the force on the stick to counter this crazy behaviour otherwise I dont think it is possible to properly fly it.

Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Just noticed a thing...some textures looks like this in my PS: and all the normal maps files also look odd: dont know if there is something different in the files and my PS dont read them correctly or they are corrupted...can someone confirm this??...will try to repair... -
Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
after a few minutes looking at the textures (I mean in photoshop), I think they were made with hurry...there are many parts with pure colors and zero detail, many repeated paterns and same for the roughmets (with also crused blacks/whites), appart of the missing occlusion info...not what I expected. -
Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
why posting an image at dusk? Absolutely, it looks way worse than before. that was the first thing I posted in other thread...after messing a bit with the textures, I can confirm that some textures dont have the occlusion map (it's pure white) in their roughmets so there is the problem...however, many others have a proper occlusion so not sure if they just forget about these (maybe the new ones) or what but definitely thats not fine and should be corrected... I also feel quite dissapointed about this, I expected some nice love for the MIG-29's cockpit, at least fixing the issue with the old looking pre-baked (and annoying) HUD iridiscence/weathering texture but it's still there and of course now the problem with the occlusion map :noexpression: -
I had this problem...solved after restarting PC and re-bind...hope it helps!

Using the dampening mode helps quite a bit (Lalt+1), but even then man!, it feels very bad in pitch!...the slightest pitch up stick imput makes the plane to "bump" like crazy (it also doesnt feels LINEAR, even when I use a linear curve) and as noted before, it makes a lot of bouncing in pretty much all axes as soon as you barely ask for it...mixing pitch and roll is almost imposible below quite high speeds and using rudder leads to very funny things too. I guess its due to old control systems. Didnt expected this from the fulcrum but it reminds me to the F-5, just with much more power...you better are VERY gentle with it or all kind of odd thigs might start to happen. At the same time, Im surprised how much similar to the prior, non PFM, it flies most of the time, especially the pitch up sensitivity which I had always atrubuted to a non PFM :dunno: ...looks like this is how the thing flies I guess.

Ok, opened a thread about this here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3651204#post3651204

Following the disscusion about this from the patch notes thread...anyone else experiencing this?...another pic showing how weird and ugly it looks...it looks much worse than before :
-
Yes, it looks the same... Something is wrong here...that cockpit seems to be the old one (in quality I mean)...the new one looks really bad to be honest, as I said, is like the shadowing is not working properly but even then, the textures look very bad and have no detail on most parts...but at the same time, the "hose" on the left side of the hud looks amazing with very detailed bump map also so not sure whats going on but definitely not what I expected from an "updated" cockpit: everything maxed out and G.I enabled (which is working fine as far as I can tell)
-
it looks very white, like no AO textures were made for it when the light directly incides in the surfaces...also there is no detailed weathering in most parts for the materials making it look too perfect/unatural...at least it looks weird to me...
-
Definitely YES!, now it has much more power and feels much more realistic. However, the pitch behaviour feels odd to me...its EXTREMELY sensitive so if you slightly touch the stick there is a point in the first degrees of deflection at which the plane makes crazy pitch up suddent movements...that would be very dangerous irl imo so not sure what Im doing wrong if anything... About the speedbrake yeah, I forget about the center line tank, now its working however, the keybindings for the airbrake werent working for any plane (F-18, Su-27, Mig-29...) until I restarted PC and rebind...odd.
-
Airbrake is not working in the hornet...
-
something changed in the controls...im having issues with airbrakes in all planes and other bindings...not sure why some commands are not working.
