Amazing work, top notch skins you made Texac, really enjoy them!!...also great images aswell. Thanks!!!

Ram AND vram are pretty much maxed in most modules in dcs, not only in the f14...whats more, the ratio quality/ram usage-performance of the tomcat is EONS ahead of all modules at the moment so not sure what you are saying about "contradicting"...HB just went the quality way WHILE making a great work making things perfectly playable from a performance perspective...the hornet maxes out all my 8gb of vram and uses same amount of my 32gb ram as the map and units in the mission are WAY more demanding than the cockpit/exterior textures in pretty much any situation. I really cant understand the bashing for this kind of things to the ONLY guys that really made an incredible effort to bring us an unmatched quality product way ahead of the rest...really cant understand it...it is so sad.

Why does Jester give bad info and then correct himself?
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to key_stroked's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Dont you think you are exagerating a bit man??...in any case I would think the opposite...making an absurdly robotic AI would "ruin" the experience...It is part of the effort HB has made to try to humanize Jester and I personally LOVE IT!!! -
The idea is to have BETTER resolution than the ones of the hornet as Akatsuki pointed in the quote as many parts of the hornet are not adequately big enough in the files (like the Lerx) with respect to its importance/visibility once in cockpit for instance...when you look to them they lack a lot of detail and after enjoying so much the quality of the f-14 textures it is hard to go back to the hornet ones. Increasing the number of files and/or their resolution would help a lot. Also the quality of the panel lines and the rivets is not very good in the hornet and I would love to get a higher one for the Falcon. The size of the textures shouldnt affect the position they fit on them as far as proportions are the same afaik...
-
Please ED!, Could you make higher res textures for the f16 than the ones for the Hornet?, It would be GREATLY appreciated as the size of the usual ones is starting to show its age...the textures in the mig21, viggen or the last HBs f14 is way better and makes such a difference when editing them that I cant help it and ask for something like that for my beloved Falcon!...if the textures are already being done in higher res then ignore this but if not, please, consider making such improvement. Thanks.

Thanks all guys!! Hahahaha!!!!, nice man, I'm glad you like my chicken!!!:P:D:D:D

I would love it too...especially in such a great visibility cockpit!

:megalol: Nothing I can do will ever be perfect but thanks!:P Anyway, HeatBlur made such an outstanding work that anything would look amazing on this great piece of art :notworthy: EDIT: And here we go...just noticed a little issue with the phoenix pylons when the distance LoD model is loaded...already fixed...sadly there were already 4 download so please, download again, sorry for the inconvenience!!

Hi all!! thanks a lot for your great support, as always, i can't say enough how appreciated it is! After Porcorosso86 pointed me a little mistake I made with the air intakes "danger" stencil , I decided to cancell the uploaded file to the user files so I can fix it and avoid making you download a new file a few days later so I have been working all day to re-made a lot of work and adjusting these things... Good news is at the same time I decided to add a little new "liquid" weathering effect, correct the internals of the air intakes that I forgot to include, fix a little issue with the crew names, add the little metal gun plate, remove the arrow in the "danger" advisory which also was realistic according to some paint decals kits but not there in some real life pics so I decided to remove it and a missing decal under the nose gear door that I omitted at first (because wasn't there in all paint kits I found) but after some help from PorcoRosso86 and DonJosh I could include. The screens are thus already obsolete  so I made a few more showing the final "release" version with all the changes...it is already submitted, sorry for the delay! Enjoy it!!

Hi guys, here is one last skin, this time an F-14B from the VF-74 Be-Devilers squadron (Devil 101) commemorating the 1992 olympic games. I tried to capture the very matt paint of this unit (including an, as precise as possible, base color) where the decals on it seem to "pop-up" from it with its different material, trying to also capture their own weathering effect to avoid making them look too artificial. Added a lot of unique and precise weathering effects for the whole plane like dirt, wet liquid effect, footprints, wing sweep or leakage, for both diffuse texture and material (some are very subtle but they are there) to also try to make the textures as less simetrical as possible and making a weathered plane but keeping some parts very clean. Also added my unique inflatable bags textures with its own material effect and adjusted nozzles. Finally also included some detailed helmets with its weathering (different for each one) as well as proper material weathering for them. Download link Here are some screens: Few more screens Already submitted, will edit the post with the link when available. Hope you like it!!! Bye!!:)

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I found another issue with the textures: that dark line in the left ventral small fin shouldn't exist...I checked the AO channel in the roughmet map as it dissapear when direct light is shed into it so it is an AO issue but couln't see anything wrong on it...I suspect maybe the file is slightly moved and then that line appears due to some misalingment. Just wanted to make you know it. It is less visible in darker skins. -

NAS Oceana "Last Demo" AD-160 VF-101
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in F-14
Thanks for the image but I already included that patch in the last 1.1 version. The rest of the patches are also from the F-14 demo team though the one in the left shoulder has some kind of issue as there are some odd corruption lines on it...I can't do anything about that. About the oxigen mask I will see what can I do but looking at the original one there are too many differences to make it look similar, I think. Thanks guys for your nice comments!:) EDIT:ok, the odd lines are in the normal map...will try to fix it. -
F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I guess he's talking about this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=220034 it happens when you used vivid red colours but sometimes also yellow. -
NAS Oceana "Last Demo" AD-160 VF-101
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in F-14
Ok, just added the helmets and some new patches, already available. adjusting some shapes in the helmet seems something imposible and a real pain so i had to let it go as it is after LOTS of trials but I think it is close enough. hope you like it! -
NAS Oceana "Last Demo" AD-160 VF-101
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in F-14
thanks buddy!! Are these the helmets of the crew rotulated in the plane or the ones of hte crew that flew the last demo?...anyway I might end doing these :D thanks a lot! -
I had a bit of time and decided to do one more skin of the F-14D, the one that performed the last demo so it is a special one due to its meaning. It shares a few details from the VX-9 one. Not sure what were the main helmets for this one so I didn't make any, maybe in the future. Download link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305229/ Screens: Hope you like it!!:)

I don't have a super machine by any means yet the Tomcat runs AND looks absolutely AMAZING!!!...compared to the next best thing (the hornet), the Tomcat literaly blows it out of the water in both performance and visual quality ratio... Is obvious that HB just made a step forward and rised the bar doing a "future proof" module so you can spect a little bit of an impact due to that but just in a few months/years as hardware improves the Tomcat will still look and run amazingly (not the case for others)... that said, I do repeat that I haven't noticed any particular performance issue with the Tomcat except a slight one when flying as RIO, which makes perfect sense as there is a lot more things to load from the rear cockpit as the pilot cokpit is also being partially rendered, but nothing to do with HB. HB just made the FIRST plane to date that, imho, REALLY feels and looks as the real thing, it is simply the most photorealistic cockpit I have ever seen in a simulator (in general, not only Flight simulation)...Absolutelly every single square inch in the cockpit AND outside is filled with lots of detail, quality and love...they made every single little thing come to life with extremely detailed textures, materials (Oh my, the roughmets are soooooooooo goooooooood :notworthy: ), meticulously accurate normal maps and again love, huge amounts of love:)...look at basically everything in the cockpit and you won't find a single thing not looking exactly as it should and not responding to light exactly as it should, is simply out of this world!!:worthy: To all this you have to take into account the many new and unique features like Jesters AI, the carrier qualification chart, the several effects like turbulences, wing vibrations, etc. All this have an impact, a very welcome one imho :P Nothing comes even close to the HB's Tomcat at the moment, so I think the little price to pay for this is well worth it.;)
