  1. Although the numbers look right (960X1080), the pictures are misleading... Granted, I have never used OR, but I did use Nvidia 3D on my 1080P TV for DCS. The two 960X1080 pictures peceived by my eyes are superimposed into a 3D image, which looks fine as long as I keep a reasonable distance from the screen. The above pictures looks simply awful, but is misleading because that is not how one would perceive a 3D image. As for the qualities of OR, I still think that numbers tell you very little about user experiences, and the latter is what I am thinking about when I spelled q-u-a-l-i-t-i-e-s. By the way, I also think your setup is awesome! If I had the option, I would probably go for your setup+head-tracking. But there is a 'no' printed immediately after the price tag, although some rich guys here may not see it:D Finally, I don't think your product is in direct competition with OR, because of the different audience differentiated by their financial status, or their willingness to invest in this. People who are financially capable of swallowing your price tag, whether they own OR or not, WILL try yours, while people who can't simply won't do so, no matter what you say, no matter how awful OR is.
  2. It's too early to judge the qualities of OR, especially that of the CV, isn't it..
  3. So the conclusion should be that it's not a good idea to spoil your eyes too much ahead of time...:D
  4. After installing the 1.2.8 ob on a hdd and riding it a few times, I suddenly forgot the reason for buying a SSD... Yes, it saves a little bit of loading time... But in most circumstances, that does not amount to much, and imho is not worth the extra dollars. If you are on a budget, your dollars are better spent somewhere else (on a better GPU or the K version of the CPU, probably).
  5. Yeah... Probably not a great idea to use two beta software in conjunction...
  6. The day before yesterday I experienced image flickering, image freezing and crashing, all within DCS. I am not sure if the beta drive or 1.2.8 ob is to be blamed.
  7. This could be a million dollar idea.
  8. If you look only at the two big curves, the total force indeed is nonzero and pointing upwards. But you still have the two small half circles connecting the two big ones. The total force exerted on the two small half circles is pointing downwards, and in fact cancels the force on the big ones exactly, due to conservation of momentum. Specify a set of parameters, and you can do the math to demonstrate this.
  9. Write their names on the two sides of a coin, then flip it... After that, go get the 780TI.
  10. Smoothness comes first... I wonder how this very nice looking DoF effect will affect the FPS performance. I do wish that my GTX680 will be able to handle DCS reasonably for at least another year...
  11. Such as when they model systems according to special and general relativity instead of Newtonian mechanics, and air friction according to quantum mechanics? "Relativistic flight models (RFM), Quantum Air Friction Models (QAFM).":D Seriously, this discussion isn't going anywhere. So bye.
  12. That is my whole point.
  13. I guess you could have said the same thing when we only had SFM (then SSM/ASM were not defined), when we had only SFM/AFM, when we have SFM/AFM/AFM+/PFM and SSM/ASM. Who knows what is going to change next? It could be anything that may not fit into any of the above categories. I think you get my point... Bye.
  14. Maybe you can begin by providing a list of categories that will be able to accommodate ALL modules that ED has released/is going to release, and that clearly differentiate the modules according to what they are. I guess it is going to be a hundred-page-book called The possible categories for flight simulations. Maybe we can buy it off Amazon and study it. Maybe this is going to be the compulsory reading before anyone wants to buy a DCS module.
  15. So you think keeping DCS rigid and static is a good thing? According to this logic, in order to be able to clearly categorize the modules, PFM should not be introduced to FC aircrafts? I don't see where you are going from here... Keeping our minds dynamic and trying to accommodate new things as they appear might be a better option... Confusion in the initial stage will be unavoidable. But once gotten over, only good things such as PFM are left (and maybe some bugs). Categorization is good, but only to the degree at which it does not contradict the development/evolution of DCS. Confusion isn't always bad. It means new knowledge and fresh experience.
  16. I think you are asking: If one has purchased FC3, does he need to pay for the PFM? (以前买过FC3的玩家,还需要花钱买吗?) The answer would be no. It will be a free upgrade as far as I have read...
  17. Nope... You can check the geforce driver forum. There are plenty of comments from apparently knowledgeable people (nvidia engineers?) stating that 600 series will also benefit because, as you have said, they are basically the same chip as most 700 gpus. For example, 680 should benefit to approximately the same degree as 770.
  18. As far as I've seen, 337.50b does smoothen the view in the new 6dof Su-33 cockpit, by quite a large margin as compared to 335.23. Way to go Nvidia!
  19. Right now I find practicing basic flying very interesting. Things such as a perfect landing is very satisfying!
  20. Don't you have to select a location before the profile can be saved? The default location should be somewhere in User name/Saved Games/DCS.
  21. The right button for you should be "OK". "Save profile" is to save the current settings in a .lua file for later reloading. "OK" is to save the current changes in settings. I could be wrong, because I am not in front of my gaming computer now.
  22. This only makes the wait for EDGE more painful...
  23. Use the bt seed to download... That probably will ensure that you'll get a noncrupted file... hopefully.
  24. Well, I tried using DCS_Updater.exe in command line DCS_Updater.exe install FC3 as described in Skatezilla's thread here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 And it seems to work. Now my module is being downloaded. I hope it all works out. Will report back. Edit: Yes, it works. The module is even autoactivated.
  25. I tried your suggestions, but it still doesn't work. Thanks anyway...
