  1. I downloaded and installed 1.2.8 open beta, then logged into the module manager. There I saw an option to install the modules that I have purchased. I clicked it, then DCSW closed (crashed?) and the desktop was shown. Then nothing else happened. I thought it should start downloading? What should I do? I have already tried repairing the open beta install. Thanks.
  2. Lol, I've read your experience on 15 afm landing. Personally I can't wait for the Su-33 afm, which hasn't even been announced. Sigh.
  3. I've been crashing Su-33 quite often recently... in 1.2.7, because I always forget to check the AoA indicator upon landing...
  4. I think I'll take the plunge and download the open beta this time round... If the connection lets me, that is.

  6. So damn vivid!
  7. Never noticed that until you mentioned it:D good one
  8. Did you correctly activate your FC3 module? In other words, did you enter your key before the first time you fly a FC3 mission?
  9. Instead of going back to the old map, I would rather have a new map for a location with beautiful scenery, be it natural or cultural, than a location emphasizing real world politics and war plausibilities. One can always build fantasy campaigns with make-believe scenarios. My vote goes to Western Europe.
  10. Can you also elaborate on your point... Not getting you:helpsmilie:
  11. @OP, can you elaborate a little more as to why you hate American aircrafts? If not, your question sounds funny and won't be taken seriously...
  12. I just got a hang of A2A refueling, using TMWH. I used to practise Su-33 A2A refueling for about a month using TMWH, with no success. Then I discovered that it was not my skill's or the hotas's fault, but the mission that I used to practise it. The problem with the mission, which I downloaded online, was that the airspeed was set too low upon connection. The AoA was huge, and easily ruined my altitude control. Once I changed to a mission with proper settings, A2A refueling suddenly became very easy. Good luck.
  13. I see. I thought there are new training missions for FC3. Thanks.
  14. Where can we find these training missions? I've never seen them before.
  15. Very nice update indeed. A little update on the progress of Su-27 AFM, although not necessarily in this thread, would be a very welcomed addition...
  16. Google needs to work harder on its translator... I think.
  17. Cannot agree more. Well said. Rounds and rounds of sales, and yet I cannot see the study-sim module that I would love to buy. I have my credit card ready, and yet I cannot find the right place to key the numbers in. I feel sad.
  18. Well, nothing is preventing you from buying more...
  19. Maybe ED can move DCS updates to a subscription model. Subscribes get more (in terms of frequency and detail) updates. I know I wouldn't subscribe. But some people might. @OP, if you want to support ED financially, just purchase more DCS keys... That is equivalent to a subscription.
  20. Yes. Save profile - load profile options are available for each flyable aircraft in the options page.
  21. Serial # 14888, a very very luck number in Chinese, by the way  Location: Singapore
  22. I sure hope so. Note: I meant their sharp and flikering edges... not their shape, which are fine btw.
  23. One thing that I dislike about the current engine is the trees... Their sharp and flikering edges hurt my eyes. From these screenshots, it seems that they are inherited by the new engine...:helpsmilie: I will be extremely happy if someone can prove me wrong...
  24. It is my feeling, true. It is not like the name of any campaign. It is the official DCS titles that we are talking about. It is the first thing that people hear about when they come to DCS. It is about how DCS advertises itself, and it is about first impression and other marketing-related issues. I feel sorry that you cannot get it. "Flaming Cliffs" is OK, since it is nothing historical, and could very well have happend thousands of times in real life. In contrary, WWIII lives on papers, not in real life. As far as we know, we do have many awesome campaigns making using of available planes in realistic scenarios. I don't see how people are confused by the presence of many different types of aircrafts. And if they are, I don't think a simple label can help much here. Maybe DCS is not what you are looking for indeed. So far, DCS seems to be aiming at a sandbox for military aircrafts and related. People can be as creative as they would like to be in creating campaigns. I don't see how that could be a wrong strategy.
  25. My point is simple. In one sentence: DCS does not need to be historically correct, but deliberately being historically wrong is counter-productive. As people already mentioned, the realism of DCS is on the mechanical level but not on the historic level, but forcing a fictitious label into the official DCS title is counter-productive. It brings nothing new or essential, and kills the realism OFFICIALLY. As for guidance to create maps and campaigns, believe me, people don't need this little guidance. As long as the opposing aircrafts are there, people will creat appropriate scenarios for them. If one day ED and third parties have created enough planes of the era, and decide to collect them into a separate install, there are better (in terms of realism) labels for them.
