  1. Whats the status Greg on kicking the round off? Are we gonna wait for Gazelle, 21, and Hawk fixes, or do you plan to kick off next weekend. I hope you wait especially being a selfious Fishbed driver. I think everyone including myself thought that would happen today but did'nt (a little irking or alot.) Even with the small quirks your server has doesn't change the fact that you have the most immersive campaign in this sim so far. Keep the heads high and push forward. Cheers!
  2. The delay from ED on implementing this has frustrated quite a few of people I fly with. Cobra, thanks for the info, hopefully if they'll put it in the next patch from open beta to full 1.5.3 on Wednesday.
  3. We MUST get as many participants on REDFOR together before the round starts. Those who remember week one of round 5 remember the few that held the line against the hordes of blue. That situation developed due to poor pre round planning and tasking. I second getting on Buddyspike Forums. You will definitly have my squad's participation in pre round planning.
  4. Our squad can always throw MiG-15 pilots at the Capitalist problem
  5. My 2 cents...According to wikipedia, the Aim120c began arriving to squadrons in 1996. If we use this as a snapshot of the time frame we're simulating the F-15c, we need to next find out if it had datalink during that period. IMHO it didnt have this capability untill well after 2000(educated guess, no facts). The mod itself looks great, especially for sp, but think it should be left out. Just because an aircraft has an awesome new capability doesn't necessarilly mean it should be implemented in mod form in serious mp enviroment without a serious discussion. If I developed (i wouldnt) a mod giving upgraded SA to the MiG21, I can guarentee people would start yelling hacker or cheater, but wait... its a real thing in real life, look at the Mig21 Lancer or the Mig 21-93. Long story short, just because F15s have AESA radars now doesnt mean they should in DCS.....yet. If we're gonna allow mods like this on competitive servers then we need to bring all the aircraft up to the represented time period. Aka year 2000 plus, upgraded flankers with R77s, upgraded M2Ks etc.
  6. Looking to team up with another squad flying Blue Flag...we're almost exclusively MiG-21 during the US Timezones. We use GCI extensively to make MiG much more effective.
  7. Agree with you and Shively.
  8. Count us in for MiG-15''s Rob. Check your PMs
  9. You mean the lack of that feature in the Fishbed.
  10. Thanks for validating my first sentence: "A common misconception in this community is that flying with a wingman means flying in view of each other or very close. " You do realize you can fly with a wingman and coordinate with him out've sight, without a GCI controller. Missile Defense doesn't start when you get lit up. It starts by listening to the AWACS or mission forward observer at the evolving picture. First step will be to comprehend where everyone is at. Once your in range of receiving radar energy, pay attn to your SPO 10 Rwr. Come up with a defense game plan if engaged on. Lastly always keep your eyes peeled. Lastly if you ever feel completely out to lunch on situational awareness, flow away from the enemy sector, take a deep breath, get the SA back then turn back in. Sweeper, little nitpicky but WEZ stands for weapons engagement zone.
  11. A common misconception in this community is that flying with a wingman means flying in view of each other or very close. This can have benefits in certain scenarios when both pilot are familiar and it makes sense. Instead imagine you and your wingman both guarding individual mountain valley entrances next to each other, or one hides behind the first ridge-line while the next is just behind the other. One gets engaged or jumps Eagles flying above but looses the offensive position due to a saavy Blue player. Your wingman pops up behind his ridge to engage, creating a hot mess for that blue player. Enough said as I've put out more strategy then the Blue side should know.
  12. First key to MiG-21 flying.... never be alone against threats forty years more advanced. Get good at the basics. Air to Air be able to shoot things down while efficiently switching between weapons. Next, depending on what server you use (we'll use 104th as an example) study your enemy. You can't just throw your radar on and kick the door in like the Eagles. You need to place yourself in an advantageous position in order to surprise him. Mountains are good if you know how to use them. I'd say the 104th is pretty varsity for someone new to the MiG-21. Back to the original loadout question...For me right now ( all R-60m's) until the radar detection issue is fleshed out. Once it is, my typical loadout is fuel tank, 2 R-3r's, and 2 R-60m's. Checkout our forums if you want more info on the MiG-21.
  13. Keep it up, they're out there. Learning that myself.
  14. I trust they'll fix it, just being a little selfish about it with the new blue flag round being around the corner. LN has done too good of a job with their first module to let ED forget to update it. As always theres more behind the scenes were not privy too so there's likely a reason.
  15. Habit I'm very aware of the performance capabilities of the Fishbed's radar. Radar detection is dismal in the forward quarter against ALL targets. That is performance bud, not small tweaks. Our squad uses GCI cuing to get individuals in a nose on intercept (with lookup at the target) against all types of targets, so it's not look down capabilities in question. The ability to track that target nose on is huge. Thats the reason we're looking for an update from ED.
  16. No you can land heavier you must touch down smoothly though. Flare the jet with power still on, once the wheels touchdown, bring the throttles to idle.
  17. Leatherneck, I know you've fixed it internally for 1.5 and have pushed it on to ED to get incorporated. Have you heard anything from ED in response or a timeline on when it will be fixed. I see patch after patch released and no fix to this issue. I've got quite a few individuals in my squad who won't fly the MiG-21 until it gets patched. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.
  18. If your interested in playing in a dedicated squad check us out, Lenny already has. Link is at the bottom of my sig.
  19. Same issue trying to do flight school within our squad. Random engine failures with all operations within limitations.
  20. Same here, using CH Rudder Pedals with ZERO issues in other modules. Been happening in 1.5 as well. Brake Pedals are NOT engaged at anypoint during the takeoff roll.
  21. Expecting fix on next patch
  22. We cover many of your wickets. We have our focus on the MiG21, L39, Mi8 (CSAR),and 109(case blue.) Also quite a.bit of Mirage. We still fly all the other modules as a group from time to time. Most are on the West coast with some Central and East Coast. We don't have a rank structure. Instead when playing your element lead has the last word while flying. Our forum address is in my signature. We do have a requirment to go thru a training program in a two seat trainer, preferably the L39 in order to have the basic SOP's down. This is followed by training in the MiG in order for you to be qualified to train other dudes via agressor roles.
  23. Check us Out! Check out the website on my banner below if you wanna train with people.
  24. If you'll be interested in getting solid training, and having plenty of F-5 wingmen , then check us out. This will be one of our two primary modules alongside the MiG-21. Link is in my sig.
