  1. Pasting the old config files and renaming them with the new controller IDs does work, though it has to be by aircraft aswell. So if you have 30 aircraft and 12 controllers, that's 360 file renames to do.
  2. Quick question on Skynet. Is the logic applied "perfect" or "good". What I mean by that is that in real life, you'd have anywhere between newly trained operators who might be tired, and absolute experts manning SAM sites. Is their a degree of variance in the settings for Skynet that can apply different skill levels or accidents/coincidences into the mix?

  6. A key point for me is that I've tried to pull together what feels like a fairly comprehensive set of recommendations on optimisation within DCS. When I see people complaining about performance, the way they post often gives me little confidence that they've actually used the search engine before making a noise, and even when provided with guidance, tried to follow it. For reference, I'm talking about this post: Please, take a scan, it might help.

  8. Have you tried checking your VRAM usage when opening and closing the F10 map? Last time I checked, opening F10 required circa 1GB of VRAM. Do you have enough spare VRAM to allow that? BTW, when you say that many have hung up their VR headsets, who are you talking about?

  11. I don’t believe that this is a new issue. I certainly don’t feel that things have got worse recently. What do you want us to say? Choose one or more of the following: - throw money at a new GPU - reduce the number of ground units/amount of smoke - optimise the VRAM usage on your computer.   12. I think that ED have got the message that it’s better to under promise and over deliver, than the other way around.
  13. Agreed on the move to at least 64GB. I got the impression that the 9800x3d is around 10-20% faster. as we can buy a 9800x3d for around £450 and potentially sell the 7800x3d for £300, is that performance improvement worth £150 to you? I’m considering it, but am hoping that AMD might bring out something even faster in the next year.
  14. Sorry, don’t agree. Also, apologies, I did mean Terrain Textures and not Textures. Give it a try. My guess is that at a certain altitude, we’re getting some pretty big ground textures loaded up.
  15. Sounds like you've identified the issue, i.e. an increase in VRAM usage at low altitudes. As you know the cause, we also know the mitigating solution, i.e. don't use High Textures.
  16. The only chopper that really seems to take advantage of the grip/twist throttle is the Huey. Based upon that, I bought a collective base without the twist option.
  17. Is that before or after removing you mods and using the Skatezilla App to run a full repair?
  18. Have you chaps done the usual DCS housekeeping an optimising to avoid unnecessary use of VRAM (eg disabling the Oculus home)? If not, could I please suggest you take a scan here:
  19. Take a scan here: my immediate thought would be about VRAM. As already mentioned, 8GB is a bit tight. That thread has some thoughts about how to reduce VRAM use

    Cool! Just taken the 39 for a spin around the Marianas.
  21. Force feedback works really well with choppers. Your cockpit looks rather tight for adding a collective. Can you move the left panel out say 4 inches? That would give you room. Otherwise, If you really wish to add a collective and central cyclic, I don’t see much of an option but to add a second rig.

  23. I’d rather that IFE ported over their version from that commercial sim and gave it some weapons and a damage model.
