Don't worry, as I said I look forward to every contribution and discussion. Every opinion is welcome. And nothing is worse than nobody being interested. In the end, criticism helps you move forward and ensures that your work continues to develop. On the one hand, of course, I want to attract attention, but on the other, I don't want to raise false expectations. We all know that. We watch a trailer and are excited, only to be disappointed by the movie itself. e.g. NAPOLEON Precisely because many people are looking for light entertainment in DCS, it's important to know what to expect. Your feedback is very important to me because I try to take it into consideration. With a little effort, it is also possible to let the player go through the checklist, or alternatively to use autostart. In my UH-1 campaigns, I had feedback on shutdown. After startup, according to the checklist, the missions were actually finished after landing, and this player wanted to shut down the aircraft at the end as well. I made this possible. Today, you can end the mission after landing, or it ends by itself when the battery is switched off after shutdown. I didn't do it for him, but because he was right. If I value the start procedure, I can't ignore the end. Sometimes, you need somebody from the outside to gain insides. So please don't hold back with your comments and reactions. The ending with the flower pots wasn't because I felt attacked but because I was supposed to be a comedian.

Please don't misunderstand me, but I'm happy about the discussion. It motivates me, and I am also very grateful for different opinions and suggestions. And, of course, you are right; the Mi-8 works almost perfectly in DCS, and there are no technical problems. The problem is me—my very personal demand. You may not care about switching between seats or flipping switches that are out of the pilot's reach. There is no problem using the mouse in DCS. But I do care, and if it can be avoided, I will do it as much as possible. Whether you consider it necessary or not is relatively irrelevant to me. Also, in Spring 2025 and STORMFRONT, there were hundreds of hours of work on little things that nobody had noticed or would be missed, but I would, and that's the only thing that really matters to me. Sorry to say that so openly. I hope you like my work, but if not? That's life; there is no reason not to be friends. And yes, some campaign creators don't see it that way and offer relatively easy-to-create missions that are more or less easy to fulfill, some scripted from start to finish with excellent voiceovers and atmosphere independent of the model. This allows you to create campaigns across the model range, as the module is only the carrier for the packaging. I must first familiarize myself with the Mi-8, which will take several hundred hours. I've already been working on the extensive checklist alone for several weeks. Of course, there will also be a simple one. That's not a criticism; on the contrary, they probably match the taste of most players in DCS and do a great job, especially from a business point of view. Of course, I also want as many people as possible to enjoy my work, but as far as the style and standards are concerned, only one standard counts. First and foremost, it has to be how I want it to be, as close as possible to the real thing, on the ground and in the air. The seats are not changed, and the pilot on the left does not switch batteries, inverters, or even the exterior lighting on and off. I also like good voiceovers, but they don't have this significance for me. And without wanting to offend anyone, many people consider TopGun a realistic representation of reality regarding voiceovers. Yes, jet jockeys flying under drugs and adrenaline sometimes let off steam, but the one who keeps a cool head usually survives. You may be surprised at how little emotionally charged American English is actually understood by many people. Even those who think they can speak and understand English quickly reach their limits. If this were not the case, text overlays would be unnecessary and annoying. Once again, which is also why I communicate this so openly: it's perfectly fine to have different opinions and demands; my approach and priorities may differ. For the player to be able to follow the mission, a lot of guidance and explanation is needed, packed as realistically as possible into the communication in the cockpit and with stations outside. This forces me to make compromises not only because of skill and recourses, e.g., with the voiceovers, which I hope are still good, but they will probably never sound as good as they do in other campaigns. On the other hand, Spring 2025 has a French and German localization and German voiceovers, and the Mi-8 campaign will get a Russian localization. I look forward to your feedback and criticism. But even better about suggestions and support, because what many may not be aware of. Campaign creators are a one-man show with more or less support and do this mostly besides their real jobs. So, thank you for the flowers, but would you please remove the flower pots before you throw them.

Hello to all friends of helicopter flying and, of course, to all those who are not yet ready. Christmas is just around the corner, and a turbulent 2023 is ending. I would like to thank all of you who have accompanied and supported us this year. For all the praise, but also the constructive criticism. Special thanks to everyone who helped with translation, voiceovers, mission testing, graphics and more. Unfortunately, the new STORMFRONT campaign didn't make it under the Christmas tree, but that's life. We did our part, but the decision was up to ED. We also already have something to look forward to in 2024. As already announced, our next project will be a Mi-8 campaign, which is not expected to happen within 2024. I know it's hard sometimes, but people tend to be generous in big things, while we tend to be petty in small things. In 2024, I will remain true to myself and focus more on content and less on packaging. The aim is to make the campaigns as accessible as possible to as many people as possible, even if they are demanding. This may mean a compromise or two in areas that are less important to me, but without the use of AI, for example, countless voiceovers and different localizations are not feasible, either in terms of effort or cost. I would like to draw the attention of all those who would like to fly online in a relaxed group to our helicopter squadron(localized in Europe), the BLACK ANGELS. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/244549-black-angels-low-level-heaven/ I would like to invite everyone who is looking for a group to fly together or just for help and training. Just come and visit us at the training times on TS and fly with us. There are no minimum requirements apart from having fun. You can contact me or DISCORD directly for a preliminary briefing and F&Q. So here is some more information for you. We fly or tolerate all helicopter types There are no requirements for participation in training or missions. We emphasize helicopter-specific flying skills, but those who do not want to train and regularly mark their land attempts with black smoke during the missions are just as welcome as those who only train. Our average age is around 40-45 Our members are all extremely helpful, and some really enjoy helping others. And not just at Christmas. We meet on five evenings a week with a wide variety of members. Anyone with the time and inclination comes, no matter when or how often. Monday and Tuesday, we only fly missions. Wednesday and Thursday, we train from 20:00 to 21:00 (Central European Time). After that, we usually switch to the mission until about 22:00 (open end). On Saturdays, we do whatever we feel like doing or what someone has planned. We have a very, very high fluctuation, which should not put you off; on the contrary, we are used to pilots coming by to get help and expand their skills and then continue on their own or take what they have learned to the professionals. For some, we are simply not cool enough , and even if the first impression is deceptive, we are not organized militarily tightly enough. Officially, there can be "only one," but other opinions are also accepted as long as they agree with mine. This brings us to almost the most important point. We meet because we enjoy what we do and want to learn together. A little humor can't hurt. It's amazing that we have so many Northern Lights in the group from this point of view. So, if you are still looking to join us in 2023 or 2024, we welcome everyone; consideration is one of our main characteristics. Monday and Wednesday, we speak mainly German and consider those who speak little or no English. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, we speak mainly English and are considerate of those who don't speak German. But all evenings are open to everyone. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a peaceful holiday, and a Happy New Year 2024.

Already in STORMFRONT, we are supported by EightBall with liveries for various vehicles. For STEPPENWOLF, we will use several of his works for even more immersion and make them available as part of the campaign with his kind permission. However, there is no reason for you to wait that long. His work is freely available for download on the ED website. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Eight-Ball/apply/

UPCOMING UH-1 CAMPAIGN / STORM FRONT by Low Level Heaven
CHPL replied to CHPL's topic in Community News
SORRY Unfortunately, as you may have noticed, our new campaign for the UH-1 STORMFRONT is not part of the December update. We have neither influence on nor information about a release date. This is entirely up to ED, and they will have their reasons. So, you and I can only hope that it will be published in January 2024. -
This is possible in DCS, but does not correspond to the actual procedure. To fly the mission, you still have to switch to the pilot or co-pilot seat. That's okay if there's no other way. If the co-pilot has an itchy ear, he is sure to scratch it himself and not leave it to the crew chief. So expect that as a pilot you will only have the tasks that correspond to your position. (Of course, only as far as I can manage this in the ME).

Further tests have shown that it is probably related to the previous DCS updates. A version of the mission, saved in the current DCS version, passed the test without any further changes, and the problem no longer occurs there. This may also be the reason why we can't reproduce the problem. The problem should, therefore, be resolved with the next mission update. However, the workaround remains included for safety reasons. Unfortunately, I can't say if it will be part of the next beta update because the official deadline for this has already passed.
-
This makes absolutely no sense. I do not have a clue what the problem may be. The only thing is that the version in which is saved and the version it is played are different.
-
@dggoofy This is only good if I have already raised the threshold value in the test mission. If not, it's a disaster because there's no reason it could have worked. What is the current value, in your test?
-
Version DCS 2.9.1.48335 that is the actual. If you use Steam I am not sure if it is also at the same stage. If you use DCS direkt from ED it shud work already. Still not 100 % sure what causes the problem. It may be great if you test the Test mission above as well, so you may change the value if needed to find out what the problem is.
-
I downloaded your campaign right away. I also use AGL altitude for the trigger, but DCS shows you in the outside view only the number for MSL which may be fine if something in your coordination grid is different. Sometimes I also use a timer, but in coordination, it is hard to find the right time to coordinate with ground units.
-
@dggoofy Unfortunately, I can't say if it's because of this hover instead of the landing problem. However, to be safe, I have adjusted the mission. As you can see in the test mission, no other reason could be the cause. The altitude value for activating the trigger has been doubled. Since I have also seen horses puking, I have added a "FORCE START" in the F-10 radio menu, which appears in the menu at the right time. The new version has already been passed on to ED but will not be included in the next update. With a bit of "luck," there will be a fix. It can never be completely ruled out. Please test anyway and give me hopefully positive information that it is due to the threshold value.
-
@dggoofy I have already received a first hint. There are cases where it looks from a distance as if Wolf 1 is landing, but it is not and is just hovering. The threshold value for FLAG 47 may be too low for this. In any case, I will generally raise the value and add a workaround to be on the safe side.
-
@dggoofy Enclosed is a shortened version of the original file. It only contains the landing at the station. The key triggers and waypoints have not been changed. Please try it with this. If this does not work either, you can increase the altitude value to 3 meters or, if necessary, 4 or 5 in the trigger for the landing that sets the FLAG 47. If it is not due to the threshold value for FLAG 47, it must have something to do with your DCS version. But to be able to say for sure, I asked others to give feedback on Mission 1 and the landing at the station via our DISCORD. TESTVERSION STATION 1 Mission 1_.miz

First of all, I would like to thank you for your patience. I hate having a problem myself and hearing from others that it works. The nine shots also worked, and of course, you are right. But it sounds so good. Unfortunately, it's too late for tomorrow's update, but I'll definitely put in a workaround. What height is displayed if you select Wolf 1 in the external view with F-2? For me, it is 149 feet MSL. The trigger is triggered below 2 meters AGL, i.e., lower than 6 feet above ground. Approx. Three hundred meters before landing, Wolf 1 flies into a trigger zone that sets a flag. If you have not set a time acceleration at this point, this should not be a problem. Are you using an MOD? No matter what kind, but it seems that the AGL evaluation at landing gives you different values, and I have no idea what else could be the reason. The coordinate system can also be adjusted in the DCS main menu. I use the first one (Lat/Long). It's hard for me to imagine, but that could be the reason. I know this is frustrating, but in this case, I need your help. I will create a test mission and make it available to you here so that you don't always have to fly the entire mission.
-
@dggoofy That sounds like the mission builder is a sadist. I thought I had disabled this, but if you fail to maintain altitude or distance to Wolf 1 several times on a route, your main gear should initially fail. DCS has since changed this to expulsion and other things. When reaching the first bridge, you are also on the safe side. So it was just bad luck and got you on the last hundred feeds. You can avoid this completely by not trying it in the first place and keeping a large distance from Wolf 1 from the outset. I'm considering splitting the mission into two parts to make it more player-friendly.
-
Digital Combat Simulator 2023-12-10 21-02-20 (2).mp4 To be on the safe side, I also tested it without multi-threading. This is what it should look like.
-
@dggoofy You are right and it is even in the change log. -@ LOW_Hitman - I don't know how it is with Steam if it is already updated. So we have to look for the reason elsewhere. Wolf 1 lands at the river southeast of the station? Shortly before or after he lands, an infantryman is activated who runs to the station and back again? (This confirms the function of the trigger) If it doesn't come, something else is wrong. If I may raise a suspicion. The mission is very long. I probably wouldn't do it today. Have you used time acceleration? In my test, only one flag is decisive. If this is not there, Wolf 1 does not land. Otherwise, there is nothing that could prevent the start.

WORLDS APART Spring 2025 Information
CHPL replied to CHPL's topic in WORLDS APART Spring 2025 Campaign
The last OPEN BETA update fixed the problems with the AI by ED. No other problems are currently known. The last OPEN BETA update fixed the problems with the AI by ED. Aucun autre problème n'est actuellement connu. Mit dem letzten OPEN BETA Update wuden die Probleme mir der AI von ED behoben. Andere Probleme sind aktuell nicht bekannt. -
@dggoofy I have tested the mission, and everything runs as it should, except that the infantry unit does not stick to the predefined path around the station. Unfortunately, this is normal and does not affect the mission. Now it's time to discover why it's not working for you. What comes to mind immediately? Are you not using the Open Beta? The other versions, Stable and Steam have not yet been updated. If that's not the reason, a more detailed description from when the infantry is back at the helicopter would help me. A video would be perfect.
-
@dggoofy Many thanks for the information. I'll check it right away. Another gray hair, thanks to DCS
