  1. I don't get this, there is no way this "neutral" trim is the correct one for hover/landing (as if there is ever one which is correct for all situations). You will still need to work to set it to what is correct after resetting trim. But in the mean time you've had the control positions change wildly as you press the reset.
  2. Made a huge difference to me when I went from texture quality medium to low. On medium it was unplayable in many occasions, on low it's good. So if texture quality from high to medium does not make it playable for you try at low and see if that works. Medium was not enough for me.
  3. I noticed something important which may be part of the reason why people are spinning out when trying to retrim. It is important that you return the controls to center again after retrimming! The controls are locked until you return to center! So this is what might often happen. Say you start getting a roll to right, you obviously move the stick to the left to counter, and press retrim, but continue holding left stick. The original stick input was not enough when you pressed retrim, but now the stick is locked, and even if you prove more and more left stick, it doesn't make any difference, as the helicopter continues to roll more and more to the right. The mistake was that you never returned stick to center after pressing trim, and that locked it until you did. And with a more and more right bank, it is very counter intuitive to move the stick the other way (to center it), to release the lock. If you open the controls display (ctrl-enter) you can easily see this is how the trim works. Stick is locked after trim until you recenter. And the same for pedals.
  4. Trying the fire range instant action mission in the Caucasus. In the refuel & rearm dialog which pops up at mission start, if I chose to refuel to 100%, then the refueling will never finish. I can read the fuel amont increasing until it reaches 2950 lbs (which I believe is full), but no message that refueling is finished (if I select to rearm too, then that never starts). If I take off despite the objections of the ground crew, then fuel does not get used, and I remain at 2950 lbs the entire mission. Guess I'm still connected to an infinitely long fuel hose Neither the mission or my settings has infinite fuel enabled, as I do use fuel if I chose not refuel at the start. I can provide a track file if you have trouble reproducing, but it happens every time for me in this mission.
  5. What are expecting short left to do? It's supposed to change mode. See the command list from page 329 in the quick start guide. (Assuming you're using George from CPG cockpit).
  6. Yes, indeed and annoyingly, that seems to be how to the real Apache works too (if I remember correctly Casmo mentioned that in one of his videos).
  7. But that's what I was trying to explain, you can fly the Apache from the CPG position too.
  8. TADS can only be controlled from the CPG cockpit. But If you want to do everything yourself, it's possible to fly from the CPG position. So after startup you can just switch cockpit and do almost everything from CPG position.
  9. I mean yeah you can turn the brightness down but you can see that the TEDAC brightness is also affected. Because he used the level switch instead of BRT. BRT only affects IHADSS (if selected sight is helmet)
  10. Just a minor issue, in an otherwise impressively good release The bindings for "Parking brake stow" and "Parking brak pull" does appear not to work. The toggle command "Parking brake pull/stow" does work, but I prefer the separate bindings for my setup.
  11. The only thing Down does is disable attitude hold if you had enabled that (and eventually altitude hold when that is implemented). Stabilization is the same.
  12. Thanks, that sort of works. Although I realize now that the IHADSS still shows TADS symbology, and not IHADSS symbology, which I thought and wanted That is unfortunate, but thanks for clearing up.
  13. The second one seems quite redundant to me. It only closes the helper, while the first one must be used to open it, but will also close.
  14. One option is to flip up the monocle with the I key. I'm currently trying to figure out if there is another way in another post. Yes, but assume I want the IHADSS symbology, just not the TADS image.
  15. Is it possible to use TADS as sight in CPG cockpit, without the TADS image appearing in the IHADSS? It's quite obstructive.
  16. I had a related problem yesterday on mission 9. When I got back to the boat, I never got a signal Charlie, and checking the boat revealed there were several F-14s waiting on the cat to be launched (with blast deflector up). But they never did, or at least not for the time I bother to circle and wait (maybe 5 minutes).
  17. I just flew the last mission, 4vUNK where we are tasked to protect F-4 strike aircraft. We got to gate 4, and 3 and 4 continued on, while 1 & 2 and shamrock remained circling above gate 4. When going through the SAM-range no SAMs were fired at my flight, however, checking TACVIEW later Shamrock flight which was circling gate 4 was fired upon, and one of them was shot down. I don't think that is supposed to happen... Another issue, according to the briefing the F-5s were supposed to simulate MiG 21s with rear aspect missiles only. However the F-5s are armed with AIM-9P5s which are all aspect missiles, and they do make forward quarter missile shots during the mission. Don't know if it's the briefing which is wrong, or the arming of the F-5s.
  18. The same just happened to me. The campaign meny said next mission was event 4, and the briefing text was for event 4. However the image in the briefing was of a MiG-23 with the text exposure, so I gave it a shot to see what would happen. And when I actually ran the mission it was the exposure mission. So seems just the briefing text is for event 4. Don't know if it is the same for a newly started campaign or only a problem for campaign started before last update (mine was from earlier).
  19. Ah, ok, thanks for reply. Guess I will have to find Texaco on my own then
  20. Just ran into this issue on event 7 as I was getting low on fuel after the dogfight, and running through the SAM trap twice. Looked on the kneeboard to find TACAN for Texaco, which listed 110X, and I tuned it. A/A mode didn't get any signal, so I tried T/R which did get a signal in a believable location. So I went there, but there was no Texaco there... Oops, not much fuel left now! Luckily I was able to just make it back to Nellis on minimal power, and fumes in the tank. But I guess that was the wrong channel for Texaco. Which channel should I have used? And where should I have found th information?
  21. Note that you can also pilot the Apache from the front seat. Almost everything can be done from the front seat.
  22. If the mission is supposed to end after the target, then it didn't for me. I bombed the target, and last message I got was about bugging out heading 230, which I then did. After then no more radio comms or messages. I made it out to the gulf (shooting down an F-5 which also was coming out there, apparently unaware of me as it was just flying straight, with no attempt at evasion), and refueled from shell 51. Then made it back to the carrier. Marshall didn't reply to my radio requests, but I landed anyway on the carrier. Then in the mission debriefing I got a mission failed. Also navigation was a bit weird as after waypoint 9, waypoint 10 was back towards the target, and no more waypoints to bring me home... That is very frustrating as this was the 5th or 6th time I tried this mission, which is a long one. Most times I was shot down by the SA-15 as I was hitting the target, but finally I managed to avoid getting shot down, just to get a mission failure, for no good reason
  23. Also the U-2 has been flying operational missions since about 1956.
