  1. .... If the mssion stars in darkness hours, NVG will automatically be equiped, and you just need to press "H" to activate
  2. hmm...not directly AFAIK, but, say for eg when you are in Route mode, you can see the flight director guides in the HUD which indicate the logic that the Autopilot will try to re-center...ie, you can see the +/- Vertical speed in the bottom right, +/- airspeed in the top left etc...you will see the needles move away from 0 , then you will see the autopilot compensate to get them back to 0..
  3. looking good man
  4. engine limitation.. The amount of extra detail on the area now used meant a need to reduce the amount of detail in some areas...ED made the decision to have a smaller more detailed map, rather than the larger less detailed one in Lomac.
  5. ...also, use the trim button to reset the "Hover Center" to help the aircraft from fighting to reach a point that is now 100 mtrs behind you.... As the guys have said, Get to a hover FIRST and trim for it BEFORE turning on Hover Hold, then it is relatively safe to go heads down. Of course, you'll often have a bit of a drift on, so be very very aware if you are near any hills / tall buildings
  6. yeah , it happens, though I've never been too happy with the explainations as to why. The few times it's hapenned to me I notice it generally tends to be when I am in auto hover, and have (accidentally or otherwise) trimmed in too much rudder, + am using auto-turn to target mode, and the shkval reticle slps out of the shkval fov. I might go on a bit of a manhunt next week to try and pin down the exact set of circumstances...one think i know is I'm not below 4 Mtrs .. ...could be a function of low RPM, though I'm pretty sure the autopilots are driven off the DC bus (ie batteries) ...
  7. make sure you post pic's of your collective man, sounds cool
  8. Hmmm .. 25 - 35 seems very low, however as you say that could (and probably is) the 3d Vision.. I'm running core2 duo's o/c'd to 4ghz (e8600 3.33) and a GTX260, 4GB (well...3.2GB, damn you x86!) , and at 1920x1200 full everything, I can expect a healthy 45 - 80 FPS depending on the situation (it might duck below 30 in bad situations / dust etc..) xp so no DCSMax The biggest FPS hit I've come across are the dust clouds / brown outs and flares. GPU performance is definately not a limiting factor in your setup
  9. The quikest / best way to get an understanding of the weather system would be to go into the mission editor and playing with the weather settings... I believe you can set the cloud / fog base and height ... I also believe the wind is in 3 discreet layers where you can set direction and strength and 3 different altitudes (fixed). As for the Rain / snow effects on the windshield, it has been discussed, and is a limitation of the current engine. A new engine is beeing developed , but ED has not shared any information about it so far, as I believe it is only early stages yet. The TFC engine is beeing modified as DCS versions come out, but things like that are unlikely to change untill the new engine is further along ... at least, thats what I've read...
  10. hmm..that is annoying...I've had something similar happen where it has put me Back a step in a campain (caused by leaving a campain mission before un-pausing it) What you can do as a work around, is to run the missions individually...they all exist as independant .miz files in the campain directory. This won't track your success within the campain structure as a whole though, but it is enough to go through each mission.
  11. ^^ well said, this is a great explaination
  12. I believe Dragon was asking , if a Client slot can be activated in the same way that an AI unit is; ie. by setting the Delay time (usually to 23 hours) , and using an "activate unit" trigger action.
  13. ^^ allthough I cannot comment as I know no more than you do, from reading the Patch notes, and from other comments from the Admins, I belive that at least for the 2nd questions about Flag status's in multiplayer is "Yes" .. I certainly hope so, and rudimentary logic and functions can be implemented if so (ie. mission event timers, or "scoring" based on events, and other advanced things that we havent thought of yet! As for point 1, that would be cool if possible....allthough Servman for DCS allows for event based map rotation, which could serve a similar purpose?
  14. /side-comment hmm...I dont use pedals for turning when taxiing, I use the cyclic and a little collective....I found the (anti?)tourque pedals to be less than usefull on the ground with very low collective.
  15. yes, sounds like it...symptoms are, you can suddenly no longer get a "C" when in auto weapons mode, and you should notice the range info is no good. If you then force a launch in manual mode, the Vhikr will usually fall short and hit the ground 2 or 3 KM's along... There is no warning light or indicator unfortunately. There was a post by Wags or Chizh with the exact set of circumstances that will cause .... it only seems to hapen after a re-arm though in my experieince of the problem. Since manually managing the laser usage by turning the laser designator off in between launches, so that I am not shooting it everytime I move the Shkval around with the HMS / desigante button, I have not had any problems.
  16. Great idea mate :) - I think this is something the community could do tho, and it sounds like you just volunteered to organise! ;)
  17. I guess it could be a more efficient way to do it though... Think of the increased technology ED will have to develop and test to enable Air to Air or Air to Ground radar for example.... The iteration of the A10 makes sense as it does not require ALL of that tech, just incremental updating to the engine..(presumably?) ... As the Modules tick by, additional functionality will be added in , such as advanced A2A missile logic, or multi-seat logic (bot AI and multiplayer), ground radr etc... And so, for example, to implement the F16c to the Level of EXTREME awesomeness that the KA50 is might take 5 or 10 times (?) as long as to implement the A10a/c or AH64a .. so it makes sense from that perspective to devlop the modules that are within reach first (low hanging fruit and all that) ..at least , thats what I rekon..
  18. ^^ yes there is... It's been officially said (search the forums, for the exact thread from WAGS) that ED are "Working on the following modules at some level, with the intention of making DCS modules"...NOTE , that in the post WAGS also said that this list could change at any time without warning! in no particular order: - A10c (and possibly A10a) - AH64a - Mig29 - F16c - F15c - Mi24 - su27 *edit* ah what the hell, here is the post by Wags to make it "official" http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=422862&postcount=1
  19. hmm..I have not noticed excessive paging in Lockon or Black Shark on any of my systems.... With every thing set up full, you could be exceeding the video memory space, and causing texture buffers to page, could you try turning down some Graphics, and especially audio settings just as an experiment ? ... also, allthough it sounds obvious, try disabling your virus scanner for a test. ?
  20. Thats what ED are aiming for...interoperability between all of the Modules of DCS...
  21. hehe...don't mistake ruffled feathers for ardent nerd passion ;) Your inputs an opinions are valid and valued here mate, and it has sparked an intersting discusion (if a little 1 sided!). I have flown with (in the sim) plenty of folk who had real trouble coming to grips with the control system..it's very differnt for those of us (my self included) with very little real world heli flying experience. However, I'm sure by now you've (hopefully) been convinced that it is VERY unlikely to be an "issue" with the flight dynamics, and rather a mistake of "hmm...I thought it would work like this rather than that" , much like we all went through when first learning to fly this monster...
  22. ...to expand a bit, only the outer pylons have the electronic link's to allow the special Vhikr launching pod to be mounted. The Launcher itself can track up and down .You can see this reflected in the HUD, and from thne outside in F2 view....lock a target, and pitch the nose up/down, you will see the Vhikr launcher counter-acting this on it's own. This allows you to line up the Targeting laser with the initial launch vector of the Vhikr, which , as a consequence allows the missle to track. If it were possible to mount Vhikr launchers on the inner pylons, then you would have to manually align by moving the whole helicopter with the cyclic, which means , in 90% of cases you would be unable to maintain a proper track on the target, as you would be drifting all over the place. So yeah, short answer, no , as ppl above have said, only 12 Vhikrs max.
  23. yes, you can only have either the HMS (helmet mounted site) or NVG installed at a given time. If the mission starts in dark hours, then it will autimatically have the NVG installed, else the HMS. To manually request one or the other, put the radion to "Gnd Crew", press the radio key, press F10 for maintanance, and request . dont forget to change the Radio selector nob back to VHF, or else the groundy will get mad at you
  24. bound to be in a config file somewhere
