  1. Thanks for the great tutorials!
  2. Mate, it is the best mission out there. I love the sound triggers you added. Awesome job!
  3. Is there a way to script the pilot's communication with the tanker and vice versa. The current call isn't very realistic and I was wondering if it is possible to have the voice files read in the following sequence/format: “SHELL 77, BLADE 51. Inbound, FL160 (or angles 16), noses cold, switches safe. Request Port Observation. 51 is side number 205, BLADE 52 is side number 200”

    Rain Effects

Yes, the rain looks great. Very excited about the new weather being worked on as well. Really adds to the realism.
  5. Nice model!
  6. You're off base mate. Giving us VOIP that is not capable of using frequencies is not really giving us anything that on line wings can use. Its literally just teamspeak. Don't get me wrong. When VOIP is completed, yes it will be very good.
  7. I agree. Our wing will not use it because having 8-10 guys in one channel would be a comms nightmare. Once they have it frequency based then yes it will be good.
  8. We are opening recruitment for 2 F-18 pilots, 1 F-14 pilot and RIO. We flight nightly and have 2 scheduled flights per week; Wednesday and Saturday @9pm eastern. We have members from the US, Canada, and Europe. We have 3 dedicated servers; Combat, Training, and Air-to-air training operating. You must be able to commit to at least 2-3 flights per week over the winter; we slow down over the summer months. https://vcaw1.com// How we work: CVW-1 is membership driven, we provide dedicated TeamSpeak and SRS (Simple Radio) Servers as well as at least one (1) dedicated mission server at this time. A 5 person administrative staff handles the background work to maintain the website, servers and other operational components required to keep our group running day to day. Each squadron will have a CO, XO team that will handle the squadron’s operation, however we don’t use rank to segregate or stipulate what active members can and cannot do. We encourage members to take active rolls within the group to provide quality additions when and where they can. We embrace a team concept, where no voice or ego out shadows another. How we train: CVW-1 has built a training program that brings together the experiences of real world military aviators, aircraft maintainers, and service members, and combines it with actual CNATRA and Fleet Squadron Training materials. Where the limitations of the simulation affect the ‘realism’ factor we adjust the training appropriately. Our training program provides the base for incoming pilots to build upon as they join the fleet, but not at the expense of the fun factor. We don’t accept that this hobby should feel like a job sometimes, and you shouldn’t either. Rest assured that all of our members have completed the training syllabus prior to reaching a fleet squadron. We don’t offer training waivers, nor do we require applicants to do anything every active member hasn’t already done. Ongoing training is key, and as new procedures or pipelines open up, members will have a chance to qualify via training. How we fly: We simulate Carrier aviation, which means 90% of our operations will begin and end on the ‘Boat’. As a member you should expect runways that move, and dark nights that require attention to detail, and an adherence to training. We also strive to simulate real world aerial environments and engagements. Not every flight will end with bombs dropped and missiles fired. We aim to simulate not just combat, but peacetime operations as well. We also realize this is a hobby, and try not to take ourselves too seriously. The ultimate goal is to provide a fun and professional environment where member’s time is well spent, and friendships are built and maintained. Where we plan to go: It is important to understand that currently Carrier Aviation in DCS is in its infancy. We have selected the DCS F/A-18 as our primary aircraft, but our ultimate goal is to embrace additional carrier aircraft as they become available. We currently require incoming members to own the Hornet module as a minimum, and this will be a standard requirement. All of our training will be conducted utilizing the F/A-18 module. We will continually evaluate were we stand, and how we operate within the DCS environment, and where we see opportunities to adapt new technologies we will. Currently we are testing for implementation of Carrier Air Traffic Control (CATCC) and LSO technologies to provide true to life carrier operations. Check back here periodically, to see what new testing we are doing.
  9. Same here, but I'd like to see them focus on the core sim items like weather etc and then finish the hornet and third the viper.
  10. Not sure why anyone is surprised by delay. These additions are more complex than others. The problem is ED keeps making announcements to feed the need, but cannot make the deadlines it sets. Why release VOIP when from what I've read the audio will be crystal clear and only have one channel for each side? This is yet again a completely unfinished add on being rushed out the door. If VOIP doesn't sound like a radio and cannot use frequency it is completely useless for online play. Best to keep it internal until its finished to a better state. If I learned anything at BMS rushing things out the door just makes things worse; not better. Stop feeding the "got to have it new and now" people; its killing the sim.
  11. I personally see no benefit releasing VOIP until you can use it with the radios; defeats the entire point of it. I'd stick with SRS if that's the case.
  12. ++1 I agree :thumbup:
  13. As someone mentioned change the date of your flight to match full moon cycle. You'll get some lighting from the moon. Try 21 June 2001 around 2am to see an example.
  14. Getting sounds to play is fairly easy. You can have it play once or switched condition. You can have everyone hear it or have it set to a coalition or to a radio frequency. Basic sound play could be as this example: TRIGGER>>>SWITCHED CONDITION CONDITIONS>>> UNIT DEAD (UNIT NAME1) OR UNIT DEAD (UNIT NAME2) ACTION>>> SOUND TO ALL(AG_KILL_BOOM1.OGG) So, what this particular trigger does is switches the sound file on to play for everyone if either of those units get killed. Its best to use ogg sound file format. When using RADIO TRANSMISSION, make sure you have AM or FM set depending on which you want; that is the most common error made by folks. Also, I do find some sound will not play online or offline. For example, I have triggers set so that when our wing members join their jet an audio file announces they are in their jet: "BoneDust has entered his F18". It is a simple trigger using UNIT ALIVE. I have noticed that this does not work for me offline, but works well online. Also, when you say transmit message do you mean sound? Transmitting a message in the sim means a test message; for example "Mission success, RTB" I hope this helps? See video example. You'll here BOOMwhen the artillery piece is hit; plays to all blue coalition. You can also here chatter in the background that is set to a specific frequency.
  15. The focus should have never left the Hornet, which we were clearly told it would not; it certainly has as well as other items such as netcode. I informed my guys after another disappointing flight last night that I'm done flying until the game improves. I am sick and tired of having to restart our servers every few hours. I owe ED nothing and as a customer I have every right to be mad; as do the many other folks who are talking but not posting. Our wing has gone from 11 very active pilots to 5 for scheduled flights due to the disappointment with ED, and from 5 nightly flyers to none. You broke the trust with us whether you want to acknowledge it or not and it will take some work to earn that trust again. Promoting new weather, carrier and whatever else you have in the pipeline doesn't make guys like me happy when the core of the sim needs work. There's no point having a fancy carrier or new missile when the sim has become such a disappoint for those who fly nightly. I think the ED has potential to repair the damage caused. I was so optimistic about ED I left BMS as a dev and returned to flying online after a 5 year absence. Don't let me and others down.
  16. Anyone having issues when they are in game and you remove your headset for a minute and put it back on you lose tracking? Rift S headset.
  17. It is unfortunate these issues are being over looked in a push to get new items in the install. Our wing has gone from nightly flights to once a week because people are frustrated with these core issue bugs such as servers needing restarted every few hours, repeating ATC calls etc. The general sense is we are worse off now than 18 months ago with regards to stability. Hoping we see some real progress on the core sim soon because if its not stable the new things are irrelevant.
  18. That could be. We had one guy that was wrapping around. He was about 5 miles from the guys in the video. Thanks for the info bud.
  19. Here's a video of one of the incidents that destroyed two jets.
  20. We flew a wing flight this evening with overcast ceiling at 15,000' and snow. 5 out of 6 jets experienced this anomaly: pilot experiences slight wake turbulence with no other jets around him. Within 5-10 second the jet spin violently, pilot blacks out, regains consciousness and the jet explodes. Jets that experienced this were at various altitudes; 15,000, 26,000 etc. Strange vertical line graphic anomaly appears 30 seconds or so before this issue. First jet was lost about 12 minutes into the flight. Next two jets were lost 30 minutes into the flight, and last 3 jets were lost about 45 minutes into the flight. One of the guys has a video and I'll post once he renders it.
  21. They look great!
  22. Oh, thanks bud. I just noticed your reply. Much appreciated
  23. A buddy of mine was a hornet driver and he said the spool up is too slow compared to the real jet.
  24. Anyone have a good dB setting for SRS in OBS. I have it working but the volume is low because if I turn the dB beyond -20dB for the mic then my voice sounds like teamspeak rather than like through a radio. At -20dB it sounds like a radio but the volume is quite low. I believe this was a feature added in the last update.
