Introducing the VPC Stealth Rudders
BigDuke6ixx replied to Cyph3r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Agreed. -
Hehehe, yeah.

Plenty of fast jet pilots have mistaken an approaching aircraft for a mark on the canopy and had a nasty shock. Basically, your 4k desk monitor setup is nothing like sitting in a cockpit and having to deal with all the realities that make the job so challenging. I'd don't really care how you play the game, but your claim of 'more realistic' than VR is just a bit laughable, imo. and as for TrackIR
-
Yes, an increase in FOV is more important than increases in resolution. I'm hopeful about eye tracking giving us both in the near future.
-
Exactly. All he's doing is simulating flying a drone then claiming it's as realistic as flying a real plane. It's very easy to spot one off colour pixel against the rest, but that's not a realistic representation.
-
No, different thread. Key phrase from your link: '...depending on aspect ration...'
-
It's already been explained to you elsewhere, and from an authoritative source, that your visual ID ranges at the aspect ratios for fighter aircraft quoted in 4k are not realistic. If you're goal oriented (which you appear to be), then that's fine, but if you're realism oriented it's no good. But I doubt anyone who is truly into realism would be bothering with 4k monitors anyway.

Pretty boring future. Sitting at a desk and acting as a remote drone operator isn't much of an experience.

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)

Shouldn't be a problem, you only need two servos acting on the gimbal. -

I agree with you, but I just wish from proper trim. -
New models not happening until 2019, apparently.

There are an awful lot of lies being spread about gen1 VR. I can along speak from first hand experience and say that I can operate the A10c in VR without compromising performance, in fact, aspects like situational awareness are greatly advanced. My point being, don't wait, you're just depriving yourself of the best experience you can have.
-
Waste of money 4k. The visual ranges mentioned above are unrealistic and represent a hardware cheat. Go VR instead and get the feeling of actually flying a military aircraft as opposed to sitting at a drone opperator's station.

Upgrade from x52 to Warthog - worth it?
BigDuke6ixx replied to R1Lawsy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
A small amount of stiction when applying light pressure with one digit is nothing to panic about. I didn't even notice this until I went looking for it. I won't be stripping down my unit to 'fix' this anytime soon. The only reason I'm putting on an extension is to get the stick in the right position within the VR cockpit. -

The idea that you should be able to push the stick with one finger and encounter zero stiction is utterly ridiculous in my opinion. If this is how the problem is being measured, then it's not a problem. -
Not sure what the default is, but go to controls, then open the aircraft menu on the top left and scroll down to UI Layer, and you'll find the VR UI Zoom option in there. I've mapped it to the paddle on the stick.

If you think you can keep going with this hobby without tinkering then you are in the wrong hobby. Things with moving parts will need maintaining from time to time and moving parts from China might need fettling out of the box. These issues are realities that won't be going away anytime soon. Reading through your long post, I seems that your stiction issues were occurring when you tried to fly with the pressure of one finger? I just tried that with mine and, sure enough, there is a little bit of stiction there that I never noticed. I certainly don't notice it with one hand on the stick. Once I get my extension sorted even that minimal stiction will be gone. Anyway, the glass is half full for me and I'm grateful we have access to affordable hardware like this. I'm certainly also grateful to the users who posted calm and sensible reviews laying out all the pros and cons, I'm just not overly interested in the whining. -

This stuff is all outsourced to small assembly plants in China so there is bound to be some variation. It's the price we pay for affordability. -
Not something I noticed in the quick combat missions.
-
Waste of dev resources. Simply disable VR if you want to work on the monitor.
-
It's 'not playable at all' but it's playable in single? Thanks for that trip through your mind.

Facebook Wireless Oculus Rift Announcement
BigDuke6ixx replied to Backy 51's topic in Virtual Reality
I can operate the A-10C in VR without being compromised. I can read every instrument and the HUD no problem. You probably didn't have it setup properly or you have eye issues. -
I'm not seeing that in 2.1. For me it's as smooth as glass with only a very small amount of stutter looking sideways when there's a lot happening.
