Ok great tips guys thanks!

So I'm still pretty new with WWII combat, but have always loved the p51 since I was a kid. I understand aerodynamics as that is my day job. I really struggled against bf109s and spitfires in DCS with the p51. I recently bought the 109 to get a better understanding on how it performs and with the ease of engine management and stall characteristics it is a good place to start to really understanding the art of energy management and WW2 combat I feel. But my deep desire is to shred apart these German aircraft with the p51 like Solty does in burning skies and other really well trained p51 pilots. I've read some threads on tips and handling characteristics of the mustang and notice there is some talk about flaps in turns. My question is how "much" flap do you typically use if in fact you do use them. Do you use flaps "all" the time in turns? Or only when bleeding below corner speed and need that sharp turn. Also would I be wrong in stating that when fighting a 109 if I loose my energy below say 200mph I'm pretty much dead meat? I appreciate any tips and secrets you ACEs out there would be willing to share! Thanks!

@shinhwa I like you cockpit mod, did you custom make that one or is it avail somewhere?

In the meantime take that spamram! I made it back to base and got a repair even tho i need to go vomit and have a seizure due to the vibrations I just flew with. lol

If I see F16 AI back in the conflict zone I'm uninstalling DCS lol we worked so hard to get Mirk to remove them! No more death by F16! At least the F18 looks pretty

I apologize I wasnt trying to be disruptive to the dialog. Just sharing my condolences for a lost rotor man :( Let me try to answer these questions; I dont think anything has really changed for me, what i do think has changed is the quality of players OC has attracted now. Back on the kashuri days, and even early Tuapse, OC was filled with mostly new players. While yes, new players still tend to frequent OC, I feel that the quality of players has drastically improved and more experienced combat fighters now play on the server regularly. Which is perfectly ok! (and even exciting to see someone come on new, and now watch them destroy in the conflict zone with tips provided by the regulars) So while I dont think anything you have done or created instigates the "quake" style of play, I think its the pure "size" of the conflict zone being to small that promotes air quake. (Or lack of option #2 which i will explain in a second) Fort example, and one of the veterans has the track somewhere, but when an F15 fires 6 or so spamrams at 4 helicopters in formation, while being launched on by SAMs, shoots down the choppers is not just frustrating, but it shows proper technique I guess in killing aircraft so you cant necessarily fault the pilot, but what does really frustrate those dead helicopter pilots is finding out that very F15 then ejects to get a new plane because he doesn't want to go back to the airfield. So by the time the rotors begin to spin up for the seconds attempt the F15 already has loaded 3 bags of fuel and is full burning right back to the same spot. Now in this scenario, the F15 is not doing anything wrong by DCS standards. And being killed by jets is part of the game. But the fact that fighters can get back into the zone so rapidly even after ejecting or being shot down really puts a strain on those who like to challenge the advanced fighters in primitive aircraft. -Side note, not even just challenge other aircraft, you have made some wonderfully fun and balanced objectives that are intriguing and exciting to attack. But the problem is the fact that short of bert dropping a CBU, the time you will be on station before being swarmed by full burning, 3 bag carrying, 8 amram launching F15s (with nav lights on) is minimal. The reduced fuel load worked initially, and even continue to work the on the SUs. However F15s have found workarounds with external tanks as that fuel drains into the main tank. Even with what I have stated above, and how I feel about being killed by F15s, I dont want to blame them, as its NOT their fault. They are doing what any good pilot should learn to do, maximize the efficiency of his aircraft, and deploy it in the most lethal way possible. So we come back to "size." I think the size of the conflict zone for the increasing number of experienced pilots is too small and consequences of being shot down are minimal as its just a short amount of time to get back to the zone. Now lets discuss lack of option#2, my favorite and what i wish so desperately to see in OC either, skynet, or reGen. You mention about AI assisting in protection, I dont feel any more is needed. And your spawning AI cap works perfectly fine and the number of rage quits have ceased dramatically. I think its a perfect system in place and should not be changed. What I WOULD love to see, is the ability for helicopters to be able to take a personal defense weapon. Or Portable stinger man. At first I wanted to suggest something like buddyspike does, the ability to deploy KUB sites with multiple deliveries. But I understand you want to run your own scripting, so I wanted to suggest something new. You can even have this "PDW (personal defense weapon stinger or manpad) be able to be picked up from the FARP just like your explosive packs or cargo, and have him be able to be planted in the field. This would be great used in conjunction with your "fighter in vicinity warning" already in place. So if a group of helos wants to attack the incursion, they can deploy PDWs around the AO as a small bubble of protection. To prevent trolling as I know you are thinking, you can even have these PDWs de-spawn after X amount of time being deployed. Something of that nature to give us some kind of protection or way to fight back against the blood thirsty missile slinging jet jockeys, I think would greatly improve helicopter game-play and assistance on the battlefield. Why do I hate against F15 you ask? Mostly I say F15 because they tend to be the most problematic, and you dont like them either so i feel its safe space;) lol That and it is by far the easiest aircraft to fly (personal opinion) -at least the su you must think in Russian!:) You mentioned 2 Fronts on the battlefield This could be very intriguing! Also a solution to some problems encountered with the current conflict zone too as I would imagine this scenario would require more space and would split up the player congested areas. So I would be very happy to see that implemented at some point. 1 Question for you Mirk about Fog Of War, will flying for example, trainer aircraft, such as L39, "lift the fog" over ground objectives? Like if I use F10 menu and see only 1 objective that is available, will doing recon popup or activate other ground objectives for the team that can then be seen in the F10 menu?

@shinwa sorry to hear bud. Let me guess, an F15 with 3 bags and all spamrams full burning through the conflict zone with his nav lights on? After about the 4th attempt to do a proper helo mission with my mates falling into spamram death moments after lift off from the FARP has forced me to put my rotor head on pause in OC.

Has there ever been or will be CONFIRMED engine modeling?

Immersion to not screw up. Probably combination of booth immersion and realism I guess? -

Because you are trained how to NOT have a hot start. With nearly thousands of hours Turbine ive only seen 1 that was not pilot induced and it was on a PT6. The point is to have a fully simulated module, not one that can be abused, takes the fun away from those of us who enjoy the satisfaction the simulator can produce. At least thats why I would like to see it introduced -
Well not sure what you mean about assumptions in there because I very clearly stated what and where I had experience. You may not like it but others may find it useful information, so perhaps get over yourself? The fact that you like to resort to name calling is well, not an assumption, but proof that you lack intellectual maturity... but as you were good sir. Fly on!:pilotfly:

First of all you need to stop blaming everyone else or insulting them because their opinion differs from yours. That's either lack of maturity or you being narrow minded, both of which are not good traits for any aviator. So put your big boy pants on and buckle up. I don't have the Dora so I can't can't compare. And basing your entire opinion on what "one guy said" is perfectly fine if you just want to put all your belief into that. IL2 has a fancy beautiful theatre to play in I'll give it that Damage modeling in DCS is quite poor for smaller caliber projectiles (especially myp51thatcantkillanything and I feel I can mount 6 paintball guns to the wings and do more damage :) but that's neither here nor there) I've never flown "combat" so I can't speak from experience with that, but I can project my experience elsewhere. Let me start off by saying this, no sim that is out there is ultra realistic. There's just something about getting behind a computer screen in an air conditioned room with a beverage of your choice and comfy chair that takes away from the raw feel of strapping your butt into a cold steel man made, ear shattering, fuel burning, flame making machine with a 5 point harness knowing full well any detail missed ,small or large, malfunction occurring (mechanical or otherwise) will force you to think outside the box in hopes of getting yourself safely back down to earth in one piece or in a blazing fireball of which you will never return. That's the cold truth about human flight. Now with that sad you CAN model many things through computers and have a somewhat accurate and enjoyable experience of some aspects of real flight. Hence why we use simulators to train. Now from personal experience I can't compare all DCS modules because I don't have a RW baseline for them all but I have thousands of hours from light aircraft to jetliners, as well as a variety of helicopters, including several aircraft in DCS, F5F, L39, and hopefully the Tucano when she comes out. I also have flown many tail wheel aircraft and instructed in aerobatics as well as upset recovery training. One thing I can tell you from a pilots perspective that the majority of aircraft follow the same general principle, pull back houses get smaller, push forward houses get bigger. Run out of speed, houses get bigger very fast. I know full well everything cannot be modeled in simulators and especially those of the civilian at home accessible ones. But there are several things that stand out to me when I go to enjoy some PC flying that can make or break a sim in my perspective. One of many very noticeable differences from aircraft to aircraft is its weight. Aside from basic aerodynamics, only few sims accurately portray the feel of weight, or in other words inertia. IL2 lacks this basic concept when compared to DCS. I'm not knocking their aerodynamics, just something I've observed. DCS does a very good job in modeling aircraft handling characteristics with changes of weight. And not just climbing performance, I mean turns, rolls, stick pressure changes etc Aside from what I mentioned above something I prefer is immersion into the cockpit. Most people just say "oh clickable cockpit in DCS that's why it's better" to each their own. When strapped into a pressurized bubble sitting on flammable fuel with an engine screeching behind you running at incinerating temperatures, there is no "L alt+home, or R Shift P" etc. You must find the switch, look at it (or feel it) and make sure it supposed to be in the position it is. We lack tactile feel in computer simming, that's we use HOTAS. But having a HOTAS AND an interactive cockpit is definitely more immersive than pressing buttons on a keyboard. As far as you being concerned about me spending my own money on what I wish, that's very cute of you. Like I said, lack of maturity and narrow minded traits are pitfalls of real aviators. Hope your p51 comes across my blazing 30mil cannon on the 109 I wish you well in your PC sim adventures

Flown both, fly RW, it's my day job. DCS>IL2 imho Il2 is great for beginners and those lacking in advanced aerodynamics and modeling. Don't get me wrong, it's very fun but personally I prefer DCS. Now let me get some popcorn and watch the hate mail in reaponses lol

Aesthetics are somewhat modeled, hot start flames that's about it. As someone with thousands of hours in RW aircraft I understand not every detail can be simulated. But the lack of complete engine management is not modeled in the Huey. It is in many other modules, look at the warbirds for example, improper handling and you will have corresponding failures. And No, in the real world the challenge is not flying, it IS fighting. The helicopter becomes an extension of your body. Short of mast bumping there are no repercussions to improper engine use. You can even continue to hold the start button down during a hot start and continue to start the engine even tho it would most likely be melting at its core and not able to start ever agin. I know bellsimtek is more than capable. I'm just curious if this is/was/still ever on their list of features to add. -
Done and Done! Thanks you!

patiently waiting for the gunfighter pro to be in stock lol or anything VKB in stock!.....is there a wait list or anything I can get on? Ive been tracking VKB products for some time now but never the time when they are "in stock"

Shoot first, ask questions later, beg for forgiveness lol jk..kinda Typically to get into a good killing position in the F5 you will be within visual range. Paints are probably the best way, or if you can, observe the other aircrafts movements, is it a hostile act? Keep ur finger on the trigger and if he fires you fire and defeat his missile as best you can. Frustrating, yes, but as with all things practice makes it better..you will get very good at defeating missiles in the F5 or you will stop flying it. One or the other will take place eventually.

Combed through this thread and the website itself, I think I understand what parts need to be ordered etc but could one of you have already been through the purchase and assembly make a simple post including a list of the exact items needed in the checkout process for a complete set of -Uh1 Collective -Uh1 Cyclic As many have stated paying top $ for premium products is the only way to spend top $ but I would hate to make a simple mistake and pay or not pay for a required item only to find out on install I need to make another order lol Ill re phrase, are these the correct parts -collective stick -collective base -Throttlegeber UH -Button Box -Joystick Controller***Note when trying to select this item an Error reports on the website saying quantity is not avail... Cyclic parts -1 cyclic stick -1 cyclic basis -button box -joystick controller***same error as above its noted 1 button box and joystick controller per cockpit so would i be correct in assuming that the order would look something like this for the complete UH1 setup.. -collective sick -throttlegeber UH -cyclic stick -cycic base - 1 Button Box - 1 Joystick controller

"ARGO" DCS UH-1H SP Campaign - Upcoming DLC
acdelta57 replied to gregzagk's topic in UH-1H Argo Campaign
Take my money! Best uh1 campaign I've flown! -
Not a wish list thread or complaint or anything there of. Just an honest question to the developer or anyone who has proof, will there ever be engine damage modeling? By this I mean excessive EGT or low/high rpm repercussions etc. *most threads that mentions this topic are years old, I'm just trying to get any sort of hint of evidence that the Huey is not "forgotten" Thanks! BTW still my favorite developer!

For the seconds question what about "-pr" for position report? or "-rrc" Radar return check? For the first question idk lol stealth mode, semi cloaking, and F*Cked respectively? jk :)
