  1. I should have known. Here's something to keep occupied for now....
  2. It's not live yet. Not sure how they found the link. Hopefully will go live soon enough. Be kind to your F5.
  3. It is a great deal. Too bad I already own it.
  4. Keep Calm and treat your F5 key nicely.
  5. GAV. I had to look a couple times when we first got the trailer.
  6. Do you? Like with the gunsits on the WWII planes the view in the rift is off a bit. Sort of like the HUD was on the F-15 before as well. So not sure if the huey sight was designed to be used with two eyes or one. I would hope two since you tend to lose depth perception with one eye closed and probably wouldn't be the safest thing. On the Apache, and I'm assuming the KA-50 the monicle for the night vision and sighting system is deployed on the right eye. So in theory if the rift was modelling this correctly, we would only see it in the right eye.
  7. I'll see if I can do a test flight this weekend. But in theory it should only appear in one eye, right?
  8. I still want a Spruce Goose!
  9. I'm also a fan of helis in VR. I think they trigger more sense of motion due to the open cockpit design. I also find it easier to land because I can judge distance better in VR.
  10. When available you'll be able to buy it on the DCS store like any other module.
  11. Winger - won't be free. But you'll be getting not only an amazing helicopter but also an amazing campaign to go with it.
  12. I live in the USA and got mine. Andre does a great job with customer service and was a pleasure to work with.
  13. Got my GW-908 jetseat on wednesday and I love it. Did a quick review of it as well:
  14. Here's a quick video of review for GW-908 seat...has CV1 flight at the end.
  15. I'm sure there are modders that can make pilots, so not sure I would buy one....unless you could send them a picture of your face and they could make a pilot to look like you. There could be a profitable market in this. Patent pending of course....
  16. Uploading a review of it right now. Basically talked about it for 3-4 minutes then decided the best way to show it off was to have my daughter test it out with a replay of a L-39 flight I did....also had her wear the CV1. So I'll post it here when it's ready.
  17. I'm wondering if this is an effect in the module or the Sim itself. Since the module deals with the flight characteristics of the aircraft. The sim models the lights and reflections on surfaces. So it might an ED issue and not actually the Gazelle itself. Especially if you say it's in the Huey too. But here's what I'll do. I will volunteer to go up in multiple helicopter rides you guys can get me and record actual rotor flicker. I live in SE PA....I'll drive an hour for a free helicopter ride and science. Let the offers commence.
  18. I have a i7-4700k running at 4.0ghz. 16 gb of 1800 mhz RAM, EVGA GTX980 card with 4 gb of VRAM, SSD hard drive for the OS and Sim. I didn't save the track for the flight. I was flying non-stop for about 1.5 hours total. I was very tired afterwards from the flying and the haptic feedback chair making it a lot more realistic.
  19. When you first set up the Rift there are these scenes it plays to show off the Rift. It starts out nice and cute with a virtual wooded area and animals...then on a different planet talking to a alien- then it gets scary. Your on a ledge of a skyscraper looking a the city. There is a huge blimp not to far away - anyone who's afraid of height will have issues. The last one is the coolest though. You in a museum and nothing happens at first. Looking around I noticed a lot of T-rex promotions. Then T-rex shows up and scares the crap out of you. None of this is possible with Triple monitors and Track-IR.
  20. While it occasionally will select a different app and disable my ability to click things, I do like seeing that Xsplit Broadcaster is recording. But will try putting into full screen to see if it'll record.
  21. It's still processing the higher resolutions but here's the video...one hour of CV1 flying of 14 different modules:
  22. Great review. I wonder if you tried to front camera at al? The one feature that might be helpful in looking at our cockpit panels. But not sure if it a feature that makes it worth 200 extra dollars.
  23. That is a tricky one. But something I've talked about in some of my videos. There are a couple ways to look at it. First if you compare it with flying with a Track-IR then there is what I call the physical aspect. If I fly with the Track-IR I can look left and right and up and down and go beyond the range of my 21" screen and see the physical objects in my room. I can see my arcade machine (which is next to my pit), I can see the cat being bad and trying to chew on some expensive cords, I can hear my kids misbehaving. With the Rift on, every where I look, Im in that world. If I have my Astro A40 headset on, I can only hear whats in the virtual world I'm in. I'm totally taken somewhere besides my basement. It's really like having a lucid dream. Now there is a second part which also physical, but deals more with psychology. The rift is essentially fooling your brain into thinking it's in motions, when it's really not. Sort of like Star Tours at Disney world if you've ever been. By combing both a visual and auditory environment, your brain can get fooled. In DCS, I find that in planes, I can sense the motion - but I'm not scared. I feel safe surrounded in my cockpit. But if I fly upside down, there is a sense that I could fall out and my fear of heights kicks in quickly. For me, its like a weird feeling in my stomach that tells me I'm in danger. I call it my spidey sense. In the real world I get it when I"m somewhere high and not protected (like in a building). I can even experience it if my kids get close to a ledge in an unsafe area. I think humans developed these senses as a survival mechanism. Now helicopters....it's a whole other ballpark here. The cockpits are much more open, you can usually see below you and all the way around you. Pretty much as soon as I take off my spidey sense goes off. My brain is screaming loudly for me to put this thing down and stay safe, but I'm actively ignoring it and flying the helicopter. Its a lot more real for me then it is in the airplanes. I find that when I fly with the rift, I really don't want to crash. I want to preserve my virtual life as much as possible. That's my take on it. I do find it hard to sometimes convey that when presenting something that is 3d in a 2d format of youtube.
  24. Very nice....It's good to hear it works well in a seated position. I think we are at the dawn of a really new VR emergence. Once they start making VR cheaper and computers that can handle them that don't cost too much - it's going to blow up big. So far in my ride from the DK2 things have already improved so much. So it's going to be an awesome journey.
  25. If you want to really freak yourself out. Get up and walk around your room. It's a spiritual experience.
