  1. One of the coolest parts about the Stuka for me is the automated recovery system from a dive. It was pretty fancy for planes back then.
  2. So reading through the thread I think I understand the issue. Can you pin point the time on the stream where you see it. In my time of flying the Huey or Gazelle I don't recall every experiencing a flicker effect that would bother me.
  3. Here's the card I got...it's nice an cheap and gets the job done: http://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Superspeed-Ports-PCI-E-Expansion/dp/B00FPIMICA
  4. Don't forget you also need 4 USB 3.0 slots. I bought a PCIe card with 5 USB 3.0 ports for like 30 bucks. That way I can keep all my oculus stuff on the same bus and not slow down all my other devices.
  5. I've seen LeapMotion before but not sure it has DCS support. Would be awesome though.
  6. lol...you said But goal
  7. My CPU is an i-7-4700k running at 4.0 ghz if I recall right. GPU is a GTX 980 (you need a 970 or better for rift). 16 GB of fast ram, ssd hard drive for OS and Flight sim. In DCS all settings are on high. Although I find that I couldn't really tell the difference between medium and high with the rift.. On low I noticed things didn't render until the last second...so flying low with a helicopter in a city is dangerous as a building will pop up right in front of you. On the Gazelle the guages were easy to read compared to other modules. Pretty much was able to do everything without issues.
  8. She's amazing on the DK2. Maybe we'll have to start a virtual VR Gazelle squad.
  9. Well you don't really hear about Pascal anymore...although I always loved it as a language. Cobol and Fortran are not truelly extinct, but nobody sent them a birthday card in the last couple of years either.
  10. Sure...let me just wave my magical wand.....opps. Left it in my other pants. Guess we'll have to wait.
  11. Yeah....no room at my place either....guess we'll wait ffor DCS version.
  12. You can buy a gazelle now if youd like: http://www.aviafora.com/forums/forum/helicopter-fora/gazelles/1798-gazelles-for-sale
  13. Brush up on your French.....the word for waypoint is BUT. I laugh every time.
  14. Cowboy, I will have a gazelle flight video with the CV1 the day it arrives. I'm trying to prep my wife and kids that I'll be in the basement for several days when it arrives. I do have videos of the various DSC modules with the rift on my channel at: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheOtherWhiteMeat22 I will keep all Gazelle videos on the Polychop channel until it goes public.
  15. I love how I got an email telling me there will be an update on my shipping date. So today I got the email telling me about my shipping date (4/18-4/24). Thankfully I have my DK2 to keeps me busy, otherwise I'd be going nuts by now.
  16. So I'd like to take a second to introduce myself, being the newest member of the Polychop Simulations. Some of you already chatted with me during the live stream for the Gazelle over the weekend as I was frantically trying to post all the questions and answers on the chat. So little background. I've been flying simulations for over 30 years at this point. Started when I was in second grade flying on an IBM using microsoft flight simulator. I've flown most simulations in between but my favorites are X-plane for civilian aircraft and learning realism, and DCS of course for military aircraft. I've been flying DCS since 2011, but had Lock On prior to that. I'm currently on my third home cockpit build and it's farily done. It's a modular design that has five different panels and controls for both jets and helicopters. I enjoy working on my pit and find that it makes flying so much more fun. I've recently started converting one of my panels for the SA-342 so will share that when it's finished. I've worked on some DCS projects over the years and have enjoyed tinkering when I can. I've flown with some virtual squads over the years and currently fly with the 355th. While I own all the current DCS modules, I am most familar with the A-10c. I enjoy building missions and have created several training maps to use over the years. So I was brought on board to Polychop to help with the coding. I've been coding one thing or another for over 30 years as well. I'm fluent in more computer languages then I care to admit...some that don't even exist anymore. I'm looking forward to helping out in current and future Polychop projects and know it'll be lots of fun. I'm also currently the person with the longest flight time in the Gazelle with an Oculus Rift. I have the DK2 version and my CV1 should be coming at the end of this month. I think the rift is a big game changer and can't wait to see how it get incorperated into more flight simulations (or other simulators) as well. I"m a software engineer by trade. Also a proffesional improv actor on the side. I also do community theater plays as well. I'm married with two lovely daugthers. So to summarize....hello!
  17. Hey guys....So I'm the guy who flew that video. I currently have about 6 hours in the Gazelle using the Rift and can tell you she looks amazing. In fact Matt Wagner in the live stream (around 57 minutes in) mentions that the Gazelle is his favorite module to fly with the CV1 (the production version of Oculus Rift). The Oculus Rift for thos who haven't used one yet, tricks your body very nicely. I know in my head that I'm in my pit sitting - but when you take off in a helicopter: your body feels it. It's an amazing experience. I especially find that helicopters enduce this response alot more then jets. I usually only jet that feeling when upsidedown in a jet. As far as using the mouse and immersion - I would probably agree. That's why I use a trackball. Some airline cockpits use trackballs for input so it's something that fairly easy to use. On most flights I rarely have to use it since I have pretty much everything I need mapped to my joysticks. I am planning on making another Gazelle video with the Rift that I'm hoping to shoot this week sometime. So stay tuned. But in the meantime, if you have any questions about the Gazelle with the Rift....fire away. I'm here to anwer them.
  18. There are other factors besides a great plane to think about. You have to look at what information you can get. In order to buid a real FM, you need lots of data. Wind Tunnel data, flight test data, pilot review, etcs....you also need as much technical information as possible...like manuals. Not just flight but service manuals as well. So lots of info needed. So can all this information be gathered for the C-160? I would think it'd be easier to find it for the C-130 vs C-160....but again if you have the right sources. Also there licensing issues as well....if you can get it or not.
  19. Fair point. I would get any transport if it was available. But I would get a jet or helicopter first.
  20. While I think a transport airplane would be cool....I see that more in the realm of FSX and X-plane. I think what you would need it at least some method to fire at something to qualify as "Combat" in Digital Combat Simulator. So I would recommend the AC-130.....lots of firepower.
  21. According to the flight manual for SA342 the following conditions must be met: - One missile must be selected - The distance between the target and the helicopter must be below 4300m - The relative angle between the cmaera and the aircraft nose must be between 357 and 003 degrees - Master arm switch must be ON - Weapons Key must be on "MARCHE" (Working) position
  22. Trolling level: Achieved
  23. I don't think he meant putting a carrier via mission editor. I think he meant using mist to spawn the carrier at the location. Curious how to do it also.
  24. What was the fps you recorded at? I know the current oculus rift dk2 has a total resolution of 1080p. The cv1 will have double that. I think putting all settings on high and recording at 60 fps might work. Can you share the LUA file and I'll test it.
  25. That would be awesome to do.....just need to find someone who's good with the view luas now.
