  1. Turns out I'm an idiot. I was using a VR shaders mod recommended in this guide: Those were causing the crash. When removed, everything works, albeit at a slightly lower framerate. I'm sorry for bothering you!
  2. I have this issue as well. I tried a repair/cleanup, but the issue remains. dcs.log-20200507-002928.zip
  3. Thanks, Bankler, for this mission, and its continued support! I launched DCS for the first time after a long hiatus, and I was dismayed when this mission didn't work anymore. But then I found out it was updated! It's almost all I'm doing at the moment, grinding landings in this mission. So enjoyable, and I really appreciate that it's so difficult to get a perfect score, that is egging me on to continually improve. My new personal best is 67/75, was quite happy with that landing!
  4. I completely agree. It's time to implement voice recognition ATC in my humble opinion. We have to make do with Vaicom for the time being. I even think it's outdated to select "salute" to launch. I want trackerless hand tracking à la Leap motion, to be able to interact with the cockpit and salute for launch. Seriously, the technology is here, but it is just not used. Maybe it needs more refinement before it catches on. But man, is it frustrating...
  5. Agreed, it seems a little strange to leave out door gunner positions from multicrew, when it's already in single crew. I'd imagine it would be much easier to implement than pilot-copilot positions, since it's basically just aiming and shooting at those positions. But I'm happy we are getting multi crew at all, thanks ED!
  6. Yeah, me too, actually. I was too busy flying the heli to watch him! :D
  7. Well, I have been curious for many years flying helicopters in sims, how much of it would be applicable in real life. Now I know! :)
  8. Thanks for your kind words, guys! It is encouraging to know that you really learn some real skills from our hobby, isn't it?
  9. Thanks for your responses! Interesting points about the R22 being so responsive, I didn't know it was one of the quickest! I found it quite sensitive in the controls, that took a little while to adjust to. But it was quite fun, once I got the hang of it! I agree VR is one of the crucial elements that made the sim training that effective. In VR you really get the feeling of the helicopters movement, compared to a flat screen, TrackIR or not. Another crucial part is the controls. Having the throttle set up so you pull it backwards to increase collective and vice versa is very important, to most closely mimic reality. (unless you have a real collective of course). An as you say, the flight model for the Huey is one of, if not the best, I've used.
  10. Yeah, my brothers are the best. Love 'em.
  11. Hi guys. I just have to share my experience today. For background, I'm holding a private pilot licence PPL-A single engine, fixed wing, piston, land, since almost 20 years, but only around 200 flight hours total. I have had the DCS Huey module for a couple of years now, and I have become more and more interested in helicopters. I love doing precision hovering and generally fly around in it. I have built a simple sim-chair with a center mounted TM Warthog HOTAS stick with the main spring removed, and side monted thottle quadrant and Logitech pedals. I have the main throttle lever set up to increase collective when I pull it backwards. And I use VR, Rift CV1. Recently, for my 40:ieth birthday, I got a helicopter lesson as a gift from my brothers. I was so excited, and today it finally happened! I got a lesson in a Robinson R22. I had no illusions that I would be able to fly the real thing like the simulator, but guess what. When the instructor told me to take the controls, I could just do it. It was incredible. First attempt, I have never been at the controls of a real helicopter, and I was hovering, stable, with little effort! Ok, it took maybe a minute or two to get used to the forces and sensitivity of the controls, but it actually felt really close to the simulation!!! It was such an awesome feeling! My instructor was deeply impressed. (bragging a bit now, but I think I earned that right ;) ) He could hardly believe that I had never flown a real helicopter before. He even let me hover taxi and land at the end! I think this is the highest praise to this simulator and especially the Huey module. It works, b****es! A huge THANK YOU, to the guys at ED and former Belsimtek, and I really hope you give this awesome module some more love in the not too distant future! Cheers! Sharkku
  12. First I want to say a big THANK YOU for making new content for the UH-1H! I love the helicopter, and I'm sad to see it largely ignored by ED, update-wise. So thanks for making new content, I bought it instantly when I learned that it was released! I have one little nitpick though, concerning the language in the mission briefings, dialogues, etc. It could have done with some proof-reading. There are some hilarious mistakes, and sometimes it's hard to understand because of awkward wordings. I wouldn't have complained if this was a free campaign, but surely you could have consulted someone when making paid-for content? Anyway, it's a minor nitpick, the important thing is how the campaign runs, and that we get something at all! So THANK YOU!
  13. What are you using for break controls? Pedals? Keyboard? If using pedals, have you configured the axes correctly? Are they inadvertently inverted?
  14. Use this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=220050
  15. Just get VR. Makes it easier, and a ton more immersive as well! :) Might want to wait for the new Valve HMD though.
  16. It's my understanding that the Litening is mainly complete, it just needs to be adjusted for the Hornet, while the ATFLIR has to be built from the ground up.
  17. I would like more attack missions. Maybe in combination with troop transport. But mainly, variation is key to an interesting mission.
  18. I was just wondering, in the left DDI top left it says RWS on both images. In the first image the radar is supposed to be in LTWS and in the second image it's in STT. Shouldn't that indicator change to reflect that? Or am I just ignorant?
  19. Thanks for the reply, Matt! But as Chops pointed out, we are talking about last week's mission, the simple one for practice! :) Will try the Red Flag one next, looking forward to it!
  20. I would have thought the ineffectiveness stemmed from difficulties keeping track of switched off target radars. But no, all my HARMs get shot down by counter missiles. Damn, those SAMs are good at targeting.
