Bugs that might not be interesting for you could be bugs that persisted for a long time in other modules for which other people were waiting an eternity for them to get fixed. There are no irrelevant bugs but it is alwayd shinier to have a fancy feature added. And aren't people also always comaining that ED doesnt focus on core features but only push out new features?

I didn't set up anything for the SU33's radar in the mission editor at all. I have just put it there and set the altitude and ground speed.
-
I set up a simple mission to test your settings. 15k altitude for both, 350 kts grounds speed for both, hot aspect. I was able to detect the Su-33 even at ~80 nm as you can see at the screen shot. Maybe even further out, i didn't try that. The azimuth angle setting and the number of bars should in fact not matter just for detection. However, the larger the scan volume is (which depends on the bars and degrees setting) the update rate of the contact is slower. What was your PRF setting? (PRF: pulse repetition frequency) You can choose HI, MED, Hi/INTL (high/interleaved) and is selected on the radar page at the lower left corner. I have mine automatically set to HI/INTL as you can see in the screen shot. This can have an effect on the detection, but in fact i never change it to something else than HI/INTL and never had problems with it. However you can try to mess with this setting and see if you observe any changes. (But as said, don't expect much from it in this case)

How far away was that Su33? Which aspect did it fly? How fast was it? The radar is not a magic tool which shows everything within the spatial limits you give it. Edit: about RWR. It only detects radar signals passively. Whether the radar beams, his RWR detects, are strong enough for your own radar to detect it as a contact is not implied here. His RWR is probably also showing your radar beam but only getting painted is not sufficient for also being effectively detected as a contact

Radar will not keep lock. What am I doing wrong?
Moafuleum replied to Hoggorm's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
How do you acquire a lock? I mean, button press wise. I suspect that you only soft-lock the target in LTWS mode. It is not a real lock like STT would be and does not provide enough information for a missile shot. Therefore the Aim120 is still in visual mode. Also the "lock" is only kept when the target is updated often enough which is barely the case in a 140°/4 bar scan. To STT lock a target you must press the TDC depress button twice or turn off LTWS in the DATA subpage of the RDR ATTK page -
There is, it works well with Alt+Tab. I am using the standalone. If it doesn't work the first time (still not seing the task bar) do it several times. Then you can get to tze desktop by klicking on the lower right corner on the task bar. The steam version seems to not have these inconvenience at all as i heard

[NO BUG]Are booster pumps irl required for left engine operation?
Moafuleum replied to sirrah's topic in Bugs and Problems
I didn't read the manual comprehensively but the boost pumps are not fuel shutoff valves. They ensure that the fuel feed system is working under all conditions and flight parameters. It does not necessarily mean that there is no fuel flowing to the engine at all. Fuel valves are actuated during the automatic startup process which is initiated by pushing the throttle from off to idle. I know it is a different plane but you can also start the F-5 without having the pumps turned on. -
It is the Cage/Uncage buton

I'm not at my computer right now but can you load the file into your favourite fft plugin and see if there is maybe an additional frequency present that is maybe not intended?

[MODDED FILES] how to adjust the F18 HUD FONT size and range?
Moafuleum replied to hydrawind's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
If you have installed some mod to change it, then it would be helpful to know which one exactly. -
Tbh i quite expected a performance drop. The new Cockpit was made from scratch with new HD textures to match current standards. Maybe there will be some optimization going on in the future since this was a first release but i think that a performance decrease compared to the old pit is inevitable

2.5 Startup bug, stuck at 61% on opening screen
Moafuleum replied to Mohawkology's topic in Game Crash
Glad to hear that it worked out! What was the solution to your problem? -
Hi This seems to be an issue for a long time when browsing through the forums. I noticed that the internal smoke is not working when it is equipped on the ramp during rearming. However, when equipped in the ME loadout settings it is working. I attach a track which shows the rearming process, takeoff and the attempt of smoke activation. Thanks for having a look. In order to use a more effective flight path, for example by the use of lofting you actually need to know the distance to the target. In SP and TOO mode, which we have right now, there is no information about the distance available, hence thr missile needs to take a floght path that prevents it from overshooting the target. Sniped...

Personally, i like it the way it is. In the F-5E for example, this effect is really exaggerated and you have difficulties to even look outside the cockpit under certain conditions
-
I think it is not about the camera but the seat itself. Frankly i don't know if it is possible to save your adjustment

I absolutely agree on the VoIP thing. It is way worse than Ciribob's SRS (which is really good) and useless in its initial state. No serious person will use it when there is SRS around until the point where both are at least on par. There will be some folks that will scream into the voice chat anyway and then you will have a fine mixture of spam and SRS sounds on the server.

Open the Kneeboard (per default RShift+K) and then cycle through the pages. I don't know the default bindings since i don't have an US keyboard and they are prob. different there
-
It happns quite often to me. I would say every second mission. It can happen any time (regardless of hot sart on ground/air or cold start). Interestingly, the RIO altimeter works still fine, only the one for the pilot is borked.

I honestly don't know what you are doing, i don't know you. However, you are most probably not the only one here for whom it is important and while it is apparently clear for you, it might not be for others.

Remove Jester suggestion to Drop fuel tanks
Moafuleum replied to zippoa's topic in Bugs and Problems
There is already an option to tell him which contact to lock. It is in the BVR menu. In a WVR situation the PLM and vertical/horizontal patterns are anyway better to lock targets up as it would take a RIO ages to get him locked with the HCU in a turn fight. -
Strange, shouldn't it be the other way around? Unless the bullets gain altitude after 1000 feet :D

This is certainly a handy function. However, the HSI displays ground speed. With a calculator at hand and with the clock one can easily calculate all the variables needed. A bit cumbersome and oldschool but possible.
-
If you have to choose between these three modules you listed, it is actually not even questionable which you should get if you want to get the most for your money now. Tomcat all the way. The others are not even close in terms of feature completeness. And it is an amazing feeling to fly the kitten!

[ALREADY REPORTED] LTWS: Instant Missile Warning
Moafuleum replied to Papa Saubär's topic in Bugs and Problems
I get the idea of the visual mode, resulting in an instant lock by the missile and therefore a launch warning. However the RWR shows a flashing 18 symbol. Technically, the target is not painted by the F-18's onboard radar but from the AIM120's radar. Shouldn't the RWR react differently? I'm referring to the very first video
