  1. If you try the Case 1 Instant action mission, the a/c is already in a proper condition in terms of weight. Try and see if it works better for you
  2. What should that keybind enable/disable? The whole pitch ladder?
  3. A similar option is already available. Although you can not explicitly tell him to lock the closest, you can tell him which target to lock. Just pick the one closest to you. I agree you have to choose by yourself but is does the job as well.
  4. Hi This is a fairly old bug and reported already a few times (for example, mentioned here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=229327 ) but without a track file. However the issue is: If the OFFSET button is pressed, it separates the RWR signals on the RWR as intended for all signals at that time. However newly found signals are on top of each other and clutter the picture again. Right now the OFFSET must be exited and reentered to take the new signals into account (by pressing the button twice). Shouldn't the OFFSET mode automatically account for newly found sources as well? I have no documentation that proofs this behavior wrong but maybe ED (or someone else) has and if this is unintended i'd like to report it. Please see the attached trk file. Especially in a heavily hostile area where the RWR goes mad it is very annoying to constantly smash the button. Thanks for having a look RWR_OFFSET_BUG.trk
  5. Reported already half a year ago. Apparently still not fixed unfortunately
  6. If you fly on the public airquake servers with 10 vs. 10 mig21/f5/gazelle/a10/su33/etc. furballs, then i agree. Otherwise if you look for different servers or even for those of private virtual squardrons, then i won't agree.
  7. Ahhh now i got you :D In the first place your post sounded like a feature request for me.
  8. That is also the reason why i think the F-14 is overpowered right now. Not because of flight characteristics but because of the Phoenix. You basically have a fire and forget weapon for 60nm shots. You can shoot and turn away without being threatened by anything at all.
  9. This is intended. You can fill the launcher with either chaff or flare. More of one kind means less of the other
  10. Does this mean that a less accurate range is provided during AIM7 launch, which is updated occasionally to a precise value by using burst ranging?
  11. In this documentary (which is actually quite interesting and good as a whole) you see (F-14) Pilots sleeping in the cockpit as well as a small assigned ground crew resting beside the aircraft because there is no time to waste. This was for the F-14 but maybe a similar scenario also existed for for Hornets or does exist.
  12. Can you be a bit more specific at what you mean with PDI? Pulse-Doppler Illumination? A question that follows from the first one is: Why is it not possible to have range information during SARH guidance? When using very simple CW illumination, this may not be possible but I was thinking that the target is illuminated at least in a pulsed mode. At least in DCS you still have range information after a sparrow launch
  13. As far as I remember it is the same as for every other missile. When you also have radar contact, then the shoot cue appears when the target is within R_max and R_noescape and the steering dot is within the circle, i.e. you have proper lead angle with respect to the target. If the range is between R_min and R_noescape and the dot is within the circle, then the shoot cue is flashing
  14. Hi I have to revisit my statement. It is definitely not related to any AI units. It is rather related to the loadout. (I suspect a coincidence as in missions containing AI units, the player usually is also equipped with ordnance) I did some testing but wasn't really able to pinpoint it down. In the mission i mentioned when i dropped the JDAMs, i was equipped with 2 AIM9M at the wingtips and 4 GBU38. NO FUSELAGE tank equipped. It worked fine. However everytime a fuselage tank is equipped, it did not work. At first I was suspecting that the fuselage tank causes issues. Interestingly, this is not very reliable since i also tried other loadouts without the fuselage tank (only 2 AIM9M at the wingtips) and it also didn't work. This is mysterious since the AIM9Ms worked perfectly when i equipped them with JDAMs. Mysterious... TLDR: Loadout issue. What i tried so far (color code self explanatory) 2 x AIM9M on wingtip 2 x AIM9M on wingtip + fuselage tank 2 x AIM9M on wingtip + 4 x GBU38 2 x AIM9M on wingtip + 4 x AGM65 + fuselage tank fuselage tank i can do more but i don't have time right now
  15. I must add that with AI units I was referring to air assets. I was releasing some JDAMs on enemy ground units already in NTTR, thus ground AI units seem to no break the sim.
  16. I figured out that this only happens when there are AI units placed. I was able to fly in NTTR just fine with the hornet with today's update, but only alone. PS: i don't know if a mission file is really needed. It happens in every mission except empty ones.
  17. I have a similar issue. I tried the following so far: NTTR: Works with F/A-18 but only if there is no AI placed, otherwise I am stuck at preload 1/60. NTTR: Works with F-14B alone and with AI. PG: Works with F/A-18 so far, also with AI. IDK why it worked in PG but it seems to be related to the F-18
  18. I wonder why it is not possible to compute the (at least approximate) range for the HARM even in TOO or SP. The slant angle (from HARM seeker) and the altitude is known (from the A/C). Assuming a negligible elevation difference of target and a/c position compared to the altitude of the a/c (which is fulfilled at ~20000ft i would say ;) ) then with simple trigonometry, a slant range (or ground range) can be estimated. It is not exact though but at least to judge whether to follow a loft pattern or not it should be enough.
  19. Have you ever had a closer look into the hangars at Groom Lake in NTTR? ;)

    Update

I don't see why Sierra's replies are off point or even annoying. You asked a question (or just wondered) and he was answering based on Wags' statements. For many of us, the formulation was very clear. Those, to whom it is less clear, people gladly provide answers...that's what Sierra did.

    Update

    Man, give it a rest...
  22. You basically do not want to run DCS on anything else than an SSD. So: it would be the same to ask if you will feel an improvement when changing from a bicycle to a kawasaki ninja (in terms of loading times)
  23. I heard that it becomes important at the edge of the flight envelope, e.g. very high AoA. In this regime, it can lead to unintended behaviour...

    Update

Patience you must have, young padawan
  25. iIthink we can expect the next OB update on wednesday. Hopefully it gets committed in time
