That is what I am saying. when you go to land, this happens. The farther away from the ship, the higher you go. It is tied to the pitch and roll of the ship. If the weather is worse, you will go even higher. Calm winds, you will go only a few hundred feet (more the further away you are form the ship).
EDIT: Pay attention next time you go out and see this. the bounding aircraft does not hit the same height every time, as it is dependent on the ships random pitch and roll.
