  1. This may just be enough to surgically remove me from the Hip cockpit.......
  2. Yeah I can see why! - I watched the video twice and didnt even notice them. Went in to the ME and, having gotten over the WTF of the STILL missing deck marking on the SC, was stunned at how quickly those wakes fade away in all but the kindest pond like seas. Hopefully, like the missing deck markings in the ME, on the ED fix list..........somewhere....
  3. it deffo needs to be optional IMHO, espeically if it come with his post police jazzy soundtracks... maybe an option for "experimental Sting fixes". I could see such crashing my rig, well, I mean I could myself smashing my rig if it wasnt..
  4. that sinking feeling when you knew someone said something about an alarm code but you didnt pay attention....
  5. Theres no wake cos he has his water settings on low?. EDIT - so thats wrong - there is a wake. Didnt realise it was so indistinct!
  6. 37.5K people monitoring that thread for uk. I hope they have many children with expensive late descision present demands....
  7. I think you can use Cribobs CTLD script in some ways to create a resupply FARP but I do not know if it is limited to having to be transported by certain airctaft (C130). A Hip bringing in a FARP tent coded for ammo or fuel might be possible (would certainly be good) but I dont know. Im also not sure how the FARP would signal its poistion automatically. I would certainly be interested in using such a function.
  8. Dammit. It’s me. The whole word is against ME!!! edit. And it’s back. Seemed to be an issue with the browser check. false alarm. Nothing to see here. Move along. just whilst I’m here. Is the idea that we click on a link when and if the new stock arrives and order? Is it that simple? Is there anything else we need to do to increase our chances like associate accounts to the browser or such shizzum? Ah I long for the days when camping outside somewhere for an unreasonably long period guaranteed you something (3 days outside HMV Manchester for the Joshua Tree for instance- yes I was first- yes I was the only one in the queue until 9am on the morning of release but that’s not the point! I had certainty ) I’m new to the hobby of online competitive buying. Can’t say I like it.
  9. The old links from the telegram FE alerts thread worked yesterday but today return a message from scan stating they are blocked by security. Eu links still work fine. Could be just a thing but a heads up for the future.

  11. The noctura actually seems to cool it better even though its just an "on" setting running of the MB header - no idea about the rpm but its quiet. - I also added some thermal pads under the plate as it seemed the initial heatpipe of the mini version design was not as good as it could be so i think the warrantly has been long voided! - ah, those halcion days where if you bust a gpu you just bought another for £250..........:-) Good point.
  12. The Wolfpack F14 I remember was again airfix. I read in a kids mag (Look-in I think) about it in the late 70s and I scoured John Menzies for weeks. That Saturday I had saved £3.72 exactly for the Hercules but even the lure of that huge kit wasnt enough to disuade me once I saw the Tomcat on the shelf below it. But if one piece of model box art sparked my love of aircraft with was Roy Cross's G George Lancaster that my brother bought home in the mid 70s. Sorry - off topic. You probably have more talent than I!!
  13. Thank you so much. Yeah - dont poke tigers or mess with the registry - sound advice. Really appreciate you all taking the time. Oh and deleting the entries of course fixed the issue.
  14. Its like the Russain one but has less war related public holidays and complains quietly to itself when made to stand in a queue.
  15. That cockpit is the ultimate study in sharing things. Never in field of flight sim history have some many switches been out of the reach of so many crew from so many positions.
  16. I bought this kit in about 1982 from a little shop in my town. I think Id seen it gathering dust in the window for about 4 years prior. It became my "standard" against which all models where judged. In the 2000s I bought the kit again under the revell badge. Time and perhaps memory had not been kind to those molds!. I ended up scrapping it before buying the Great Wall kit which was almost as much as pig and now sits gathering dust hanging from my lads bedroom ceiling. Great Idea and lovely art athough I think Roy Cross and the 1970s Airfix boxes still has my heart.
  17. So, a couple of months ago I gave AdamX's optimisations a go as they were recommended in one of the threads here. Results seemed ok - a few extra frames. One of the optimisations was disabling auto updates via a group policy. Worry not cos theres a file to reverse the process in the description- er......except there isnt. And no I didnt check first like a responsible adult. Doh! Now i have a situation where my PC tells me my organisation is managing these settings but there is no associated school or work account for me to delete to reverse it as indicated by any self help guides ive seen on line. A proper case of Smartassery on my part where my dumbness has outstripted my knowledge by a country mile. Any suggestions from wiser minds appreciated. Below is the syntax of the batch file used to disable the updates for reference which I hope may give an indication of what has occurred. @echo off echo Batch File By Adamx taskkill -F -FI "IMAGENAME eq SystemSettings.exe" net stop wuauserv net stop UsoSvc reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /v "DoNotConnectToWindowsUpdateInternetLocations" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /v "SetDisableUXWUAccess" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU" /v "NoAutoUpdate" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /v "ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f gpupdate /force echo Deleting Windows Update Files rd s q "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" md "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" net start wuauserv net start UsoSvc echo Windows Updates Are Successfully Disabled! pause Thank you
  18. My lads a saver and oddly patient for a 13 yr old. Too patient. His (my old) EVGA 1060 mini has no working fan and is instead cooled by a health robinson Noctura sticky padded to the bottom it!. Works very well!! Looking a Telegram snagging a card at those prices would be like Alice emerging from out of the looking glass. Im already training my lad. Hes got much faster reactions when it comes to clicking links!
  19. I have a mission called "hearding cats" which I use to test if something will work or not :-). I use it to tinker and check updates when I have to pack away my controllers for periods. I can get silly, Im curently trying to construct an ever circuiting FARP convoy around an airfield with two buses side by side to provide an ever moving landing pad. In this case, I cannot blame the AI for whats occurring!
  20. I want the co-pilot to look suitably concerned/impressed at my efforts. I'll pay big money if he also showers me with kisses when I deliver a 10,000lb container without going into VRS. I want the engineer to slap my hands if so much as glance at a switch on the central overhead and I want to hear the sound of grunts graning and throwing up in the back as I "carefully" deliver them to their tasks.... Hmm, never going to happen - id be happy if the interactive start up was implemented. I read somewhere it was a thing in the early days but disappeared.
  21. Sadly in a fit of generosity I promised the card to my lad. He plays games for which the oft said “still more than enough for anything under 4K” is actually true. I like Scan. They have always been very fair and efficient. I will keep a watch for the 3070ti whilst I procrastinate further
  22. Going off the few previous updates like the A10 it does appear more likely to happen if there is sufficient added to justify a small charge to cover the work. I get this. Dcs is never a finished product and moves on. Unfortunately with the Hip there are few attractive additional features for the casually interested ( by that I mean bang bang stuff) that could be added. Diehards would likely pay for a nice pit and some fixes but probably not in the numbers to recoup. However when something changes that affects the module ( like the reflective surfaces that really only seem to calm down with global illumination ) this should not be left. Even though the immersion of the module bats such distractions aside with ease its still annoying. Personally I think the hip is deserving of an update simply to acknowledge just how great it was in the first place. If it worked with multicrew or, ultimately, had an interactive AI crew it may even generate a few late sales but that’s a number of bridges too far I think
  23. I presume by designed specifically you mean the addition of some form of stress ball or head banging pad, extra strong alt tab and delete keys and rubberised edges to absorb the impact of them being chucked in sheer frustration at what the A i is doing.
  24. As a 1080 owner I can only say I wished I’d have been patient, spent another £150 and bought a ti instead. The 1080 is a millstone. Not powerful enough in one resect but not slow enough in another to justify the relatively small extra performance boost of a 1080ti or 2080 in DCS. A cex trade in would still cost £250 to 300 for what? 7-10 fps? At the moment, even at 900 quid used the 2080ti appears to the low end of a meaningful upgrade
  25. I did try to watch the video but the subtitles are so bizarre as to make it meaningless. However I did sit up when the subtitles said “ when you speak to a friend who is using your Mrs”. The first reference to "phantom" appears to relate the historical/political problems of extending the Caucauses map to include Ukraine and seems more to mean ghosts of the past than a reference to an aircraft. There is some fleeting and vague reference "phantom" again a short time later but its not at all clear in what context before conversation instantly returns to the Apache. I remain unconvinced that anything is even approaching “quite soon” at least as far an a non developer understands the concept of time. Im not even convinced its a reference to an aircraft despite the video section tag but Im equally happy to conceed that it could be one mentioned in passing. the absence of any hype train elsewhere is also notable.
