Im no expert in carrier design but does anyone else see a flaw in the location of the huge rotors of certain death directly in front of the landing deck at right about where a overshooting/underpowered pilot would eject?

A module with a single cockpit, no MFDs, simplfied flight modelling and a limited abilty to make craters. THIS could be the answer to all my DCS framerate woes!

Firstly, I have been a skin maker for a long time. When I was active in other sims I never made skins for adoration. I made them because I was good at it, I enjoyed sharing and I learned thngs about digital art and history. I appreciated any effort to have the skins in a ordered repository. I know how long it takes to make something well and I know how it takes schlap some graphics onto a base template. I am greatful for the skinners. I have a lot of their work, fictional and historic. This thread was prompted by the time it took me to find a specific F14 skin. A skin I could have given up even looking for in the 46 pages of skins for that single module if I didnt know for sure it existed. Of those 46 pages, at least half are made up of fictional skins. I know the F14 is a special case with its lack of tactical numbering but , in modules, those skins lurking in the middle of the page set may get overlooked. Sometimes however, I just want a fun skin. Like the garbage truck A10 or the Crumpet Wagon Mil 8. Now I have the opposite problem - Now I hve to scroll though pages of really great historic and fictional skins to find the "fun" skin. Its not about what I think deserves to be posted. Im not adverse to fictional and fun skins. Its about ease of finding it. Fictional or otherwise. Finally - no it isnt hard - but it could be better.

I think a lot would be down to the creators picking categories. TBH, Id trust most if not all to do this correctly. I think your options are a good solution that hopefully wouldnt impact on the poor ED employee responsible for putting them up - self regulation.

Im mucking about with the ME and have placed a helipad close to Senaki. In many places on the map I am finding that I am unable to move it. It kinda sticks and i need to zoom out and move the mouse to another point away from the area to get it move.. In other locations its fine. Moreover there appears to be no reason. Terrain of map objects do not seem to be an issue. Itll sit in the middle of forest in one area but wont sit on a plain in another. Ive attached a simple Causauses miz file with a heliport and 2 zones, one with an issue and one without. Be greatful if someone could confirm if they experience the same of if its just on my end. Limaro has replicated it now on 3 machines. I have done the same on 5 machines now and on three of those with and without Fresh OS, with and without full game reinstalls with OS patched and unpatched from 1904 to 21h2, and through 5 gpu drivers spanning back to 425 and on both intel and AMD chips. There’s reference to a performance hit in lots of threads to I don’t think it’s an anomaly. That more haven’t picked up on it is odd but, to me at least, so is the fact that someone in 2d can play the game at 37 fps with TIR and say it’s smooth.

As Lange says its going to depend entirely on your values and your expectations. Any map can happily munch up most of your 16GB of RAM and the newer ones will use that first 16GB as an apiritif even in light missions. Multiplayer is also demanding in that respect I understand. The 11400F isnt a slouch but I dont know if, in its current single core application, DCS VR needs more than 4.4Ghz. Overclocking the chip isnt an option. so this as well as your GPU are factors. If you have the components build it and see. If you havent got the VR set yet and cant trial one, you'll probably be stepping into the unknown as no two player's needs and expectations are the same and players have different bars at which the VR experience overcomes the necessary reduction in graphical quality. DCS is, supposedly, on the cusp becomming multi-core and using Vulkan but no-one knows how soon this will be seen or how and by how much it will benefit VR and 2D. With that said, and given the expense you would have to incur for any meaningful upgrade to your GPU or CPU sucking it to see may not be the end of the world even if it falls short currently.

I got what you meant. I was facetiously pointing out that more than just user files get broken over time. Sorry. And I agree - lots of obsolete stuff if you keep everything up to date but potentially stuff that may still work if people have older builds, which some do.

Those player can have fun searching for them in the fictional section. There would be no difference to them. Same as ever. You could even filter it so that you can simply search ONLY for skins tagged as being type and service accurate I guess. Thus making such the exception and not the rule. That way us OCD types can limit ourselves to our happy little world without ruining it for anyone else.

Id like to add to above the number of bug threads in existence that are annotated as "reported" and locked. It gives absolutely no indication to anyone if the bug is fixed or outstanding. Moreover it cuts both ways and a module that may have had a multitude of fixes could be represented as being bug laden basket case putting off potential purchasers. Starting any thread with "so whats the state" is prone to extremes in support and detraction making informed decisions almost impossible. Even reading through 4 years of change logs is no guarantee as fixes are sometimes not mentioned or problem reoccur. Appreciate it takes time to moderate but without such moderation as highlighted by Sirrah the forum becomes difficult to use as a tool to research and inform.

Most already state the fictional part in their titles so i imagine most would honor a selective tick box. Those that offen repeatedly or refuse to adjust get their posting rights revoked and their work binned. Take this as my volunteering to be the axe swinger!

Thats true, but based on supply and assuming the subsription has been running since the launch thats still only about 12 of you who got something not even sure Ive set it up correctly - its there in my chats section so I assume Im subscribed. Sadly its an iphone so I cant set specific sounds for the app apparently. All I can really do is turn everythng else off but tbh, I dont really need to know to someone I couldnt give a shi about has booked into a health spa on faceache or meglo or whatever its calling itself now so......double bonus!!

Why Taz1004 isnt a beta tester of even a bloody consultant for ED is beyond me. He should at least have a little tag below his name "there, fixed that for you"

Pretty sure this isnt the first post of its kind. I dont want a French Police Hind, a Brazillian SU27 or Swiss Garbage truck inspired A10C. I certainly dont want a lurid green F18 with skulls and amine on its wings. Im sure they are very nice (not the F18- in no universe is such "nice") but they are not for me. More than anything, I dont want to have to scroll through 25 pages of such to find something relevent. Please can ED just add one more search section tick box "include fictitious skins" or something so I can filter these things out. Of course it would be on the uploader to tick a box or something to indicate they are fiction but I have a solution for that too - one strike and your out. Thanks.
