  1. "quite soon" - Have I missed something?
  2. you can but OVGME or Mod Manager will better asssit you removing/isolating mods if they becomes problematic.
  3. Who Tom Selek? I dunno he was ok in three men and a baby. Oh. Hawaii. One trick pony with not a single air or sea asset currently in the game to do said trick. Couldnt see it being a big seller personally. I dont think the Marianas would be if it were a paid DLC.
  4. There was a mod with a landing pad on a truck. I always wondered about coveining a little convoy using it with the necessary pre-requisits for a FARP and having that do a circuit but the idea never got any further than idle thought and id think Id be stuck circling a farp rather then being truly mobile. EDIT -so I found it, tried and.....................its its fubar'd seven ways to sunday. The convoy doesnt keep convoy and the truck is essentally a static object. Shame - back to chasing KC130s...........hmmm.............a KC130 towing a helipad.......
  5. if you're look for hard facts and no nebulous anoucements you're out of luck. Closest to "hard facts" on here is this
  6. Raise the nose whilst dropping collective and correctng with the torque pedals to slow. Bring back in collective just prior to loosing transitional lift, corrrect with torque pedals, bring to hover or thereabouts, drop the copter. You can find the "biting point" of the collective to save not having the torque and rpm when required by observing carefully the point at which the aircraft wants to move its nose away from centre as you introduce it. Pulling around 180 degrees as you overfly the LZ whilst doing similar also works but is a bit hollywood and slightly harder to co-ordinate. Search for Casmo TVs and AVTerminus's tutorials on youtube. They are goldmine of info and understanding. Especially the rotor theory.
  7. "catapult salute" in the F14s Flight control section. (i know, not where I would expect to find it either)
  8. Agreed - of course a luridly painted Hughes MD500 and a "player can drive" Ferrari 308GTB may change that.....
  9. At risk of starting an argument here as well, If you are using TIR on a rig incapable of acheiving very high fps, Id stick to a 60hz monitor. That said you seem happy with your experience at frame rates below 60 fps so perhaps that isnt an issue for you. The GPU market isnt likely to settle down soon (if it ever really does). Nvidia is predicting supply issues throughout 2022 and AMD is saying until at least Q4 of 2022. Recent events have shown both companies the people will always pay the price so even if they aint getting the lions share of the silly 3X price multiplers now, Im sure they will be looking at their wholesale MSPs with one eye on the future and going "hmmmm". Personally I wouldnt purchase a 3060ti card for £700 but thats about your only regularily available Nvidia option in the UK right now although there are some 3070tis knocking about for £1100. CEX offer second hand GPUs with 24 months warranty and, although they are not exactly cheap, they often end up in the ball park of what ebay sellers acheive without such warranties. 1080ti are an "on par with new" price of £600. 1080s are £460. Sadly the market is such that, even second hand, a 1080 like mine is selling for what I bought it new for some 3 or 4 years ago £480) which is ridiculous. Meanwhile DCS marches on with ever increasing demands and no firm guarantees for future improvements to perfomance (and only a fool would make them). Its probably a good time to keep your powder dry and see what mid to late 2022 brings in terms of DCS and the GPU market.
  10. This is to say, in my case, with an X570 board, connecting via the headers instead of the onboard usb sockets solved the issue whilst migrating all my periperals to a powered USB run out of the header did not cause any further issues and provided a stable connection.
  11. Its probably totally unrelated but I recently switched from a Z170 board to an X570 MSI Tomahawk running a 5600X. I use a Corsair headset with the in line USB dongle. The board is flashed to the latst Bios and drivers. I use a corasir RM850X PSU and have a realtively undemanding MSI Gaming X GTX1080. In any of the X570 board's usb slots the sound would either fail or begin to crackle wildly after perhaps 30 seconds of use in and outside of the game. The fault also occurred using my lad's usb headset. In addition, the other outboards, Warthog and TIR in particular were as reliable as a polititan's promise and continually disconnected despite any windows device configuration in the power mangement of them. I installed an old 4 port USB 2.0 header slot plate extension that cost about £4 and all the issues stopped if the warthog and Corsair went though them. Later, for tidyness, as my outboard is portable, I installed a D-link 7 port powered hub running out of one of the slot plate ports and, again, things have been totally stable. The Hub takes my Virpil T50 mongoose, the Warthog, Corsair headset, MFG Crosswinds, Track IR and provides power for a delan IR LED clip as well as the reciever of a wireless keyboard and mouse. I dunno if any of this will help as I think the X570 bios is still a little flaky in places which was the root of my problem. I did consider returning the board but since the solution I have is also my preferred option and I hate taking stuff Ive carefully built apart I didnt in the end. In all other respects the board performs as expected with the chip at this time.
  12. When viewed in retrospect 10 years from now. DCS: AV-8B/NA is likely to be judged as greatest consumer flight sim module. ER Mi8 and I wont be pursuded otherwise The sophistication of this sim, as well as skills required to fly it, is as unique as the aircraft it was modeled on. Big yourself up there. Its not that difficult The inflight refueling is the most difficult task in DCS. Bar none. At least of the modules I have. Its not - quite the opposite. the Harrier is very stable and responsive on the throttle. Its one of the easiest. Again Mi 8 is the hardest....... If RAZBAM adds Plus+ radar and AIM-120, with AIM-9X with helmet queuing. The module, may be considered complete. At least feature wise. I think RAZBAM may disagree with you about what "feature complete" means If course no software, and real world aircraft is ever complete. A modern NATO kit option would be a fantastic addition. British Joint Force Harrier kit. Specifically; radar of Plus+, 2 additional AIM-9 hardpoints, SniperXR pod. I think the Sopwith Camel is now classed as feature complete. Other than that, I agree.
  13. Yup theres "pancake mode" and "princess mode" KIDDIN
  14. I cant have a permanent set up due to something called "a family" and some stupid tradition that seems to have become established about them sharing the living room. Should have paid more attention at school and got a bigger house but too late now. As such Im an expert in starting up things but thats about it.
  15. If I lower my setting, the game will not be enjoyable. As Ive said. I have what I consdier to be my minimums and below there is no point for me as the sim simly becomes a procedural one. And since the procedures are reduced to consumer level depth, it then fails at both. If you revert back and stay there, you wont see the apache. Revert back to 2.7.6 to enjoy more what you had ONLY if you are certain the patch caused the issue. In my case there is a 16 fps difference and I have the luxury of a big M2 drive so I can (just about) have the OD and the old Stable to switch between. Oh, and if you revert, rename your old Saved Games folder to ensure a good fresh reversion with a fresh saved games folder. You can then swap over your controller settings without much hassle.
  16. I can’t see anything wrong with the start up. Is that a self made mission? If so are you overweight? Anti ice and dust filters likely take a lot of power and reduce your overall max permissible weight by quite a lot. Certainly my experience from the mi8 and I presume they do the same on the hind. High fuel load? Weapons? Too much vodka in the back? I tend to listen for that tone drop when lifting the collective. Once it starts I stop and wait.
  17. Just copy over the files you need into the new saved games folder that will be created when the game runs as Flappie says. Fxo and meta shaders are deleted from saved games that correct. It has helped some fix issues. Personally it did improve the FPS in one OB install on one occasion but did not fully bring it back to 276 levels. I assume there was a mod or some other historic hack causing this for me. In not suggesting it’s a fix to the loss seen in 277. Just something for to try for the guy who seems to be suffering from more than that loss.
  18. I dunno if there is anything in this thread that ay help you. For the OP I think it was his outboard software. For others it was a the saved games folder and a complete GPU driver wipe and reinstall that sorted it. Usual question - any mods? If you have you can rename your saved game folder, run a repair and see if that makes a difference. Any settings you can transfer from the original folder afterwards. I think that there are a couple of boat mods at present causing issues but I tink that relates to lighting effects.
  19. Are you able to document it and report it to the devs? - maybe put it in a new thread and let flappie have a look at it? I think it would be a help.
  20. Look - for their time October and Nov were pretty good. Sure it would be nice to see them upgraded to december standards but its not like you can keep revisting the same months year after year
  21. Jesus man - I didnt say it rendered frames - In fact I said the opposite. Read the words. And at NO POINT have i said the device itself is causing the stuttering. Ive said, several times now, that its the gpus inability to render a frame prescribed by the TIR within a refesh cycle that causes the issue. Ive tried to explain everything as well as I can. Certainly Ive done more than point to a product page which says absolutley nothing about the issue. Seems your the only one confused by this.
