Basic? Looks pretty cool to me!

I doubt many avionics- and flight-model-specialists are also effects- and rendering-gurus. So just telling them to do this new job they've never done before, probably won't work out.

You look at it from a long-year-customers point of view. With the F15C and the Su27 we get the 2 most-flown aircraft from the original LockOn and integrate them into DCS. That's double the work and cost for you. But you probably have Lock On, FC and then DCS. In this regard FC3 and this release seems a step back, but it isn't for everybody else: If new customers download the free DCS World-Version and see the F15C and Su27 as an easy-start-package, they are much more likely to buy them and get into flying, than making them buy LockOn on ebay and FC3. And honestly: this duel-package (if they will be both in one module) is exactly what most of the community asked for over and over again. On a personal note: I'm glad I can finally uninstall LockOn and FC. The SU25 is free anyways, I didn't fly the A-10A more than 5 Minutes since DCS: A-10C and I rarely flew something else than the F15C from the LockOn-Package.

I still prefer Saitek-Profiles. Well, Driver-Profiles, that is. I'm usually working with at least 2 layers to map most of the functions I need to my HOTAS. Mapping them in a logical way works best in 2 layers for me. IMHO Saitek has the best basis for this, as you can switch profiles on the fly. I had one for the Shark, one for the A-10C and one for the F-15C. When joining a multiplayer-server, I could switch to the profile needed for the available aircraft. I really miss this feature for the CH and Thrustmaster-Setups. They are completely reinitiated when switching profiles, which usually forces you to restart the simulation. :(

No, a helo is an airCRAFT, but not an airPLANE. -

In Q4 2012 Apples market share on the tablet market dropped below 50%. (btw. in Q2 Apple stated, this would not happen before 2016...) So, it's definitely worth looking beyond the Apple horizon. And competitors aren't sleeping ;) http://touchpilot.com/touch-pilot-one/ -
Trees don't block LOS. However, AFAIK they limit the chance of detection and decrease accuracy.
-
Cool. That's a nice approach. I wonder how many pirates realized they are actually part of the game.
-
I don't plan on doing this 2 years. Right now, with a 2 week old baby, there's not much choice about when to sleep and when not. When she wants attention, she'll get it. You can only chose what to do in the 2-4 hours in between. ;)
-
You don't need to shut down your plane to rearm or refuel. You just need to turn the coms to intercom. Then you can even keep your canopy closed. Just be sure to switch back, before asking for takeoff-permission ;)
-
If we want to be this exact: The update was probably done by ED, regardless of who posted the news or uploaded the file. ;)

My wife supports my flightsim-hobby, so I'm pretty lucky on this part. On the Daddy-Part, I can only speak of 2 weeks experience, but so far, it's working pretty good. Sleeping is far overrated, anyways.

One more hint that I didn't fly the Shark often enough lately :(
-
It does, since IAS changes with altitude. On BS depending on altitudes, icing starts as well (well, it's most obvious with the BS). But the thermometers don't work. They just show the set temp in mission-designer. AFAIK it's been like this since BlackShark. (Nice touch of immersion, though, if you think the temps don't change because the cockpit-thermometer doesn't change ;) )

I had hypoxia in DCS several times before. 2 times after taking damage and once after forgetting to switch oxygen on :music_whistling: But it doesn't work like: Alt 10.000 ft + no oxygen = blackout. Infact, it took my pilot quite a while to black out, so I didn't combine the damage with the effect at all.

Very nice work! Well done!

The funny thing in this thread is, how people rush to defend Belsimtek. But nobody attacks them at all! They made a great sim, everybody here thinks that. Just that somebody has found minor points to make it even better. What's the big deal about it? IMHO defending Belsimtek in this way makes this little inaccuracity much larger than it was in the first place.
-
Because Belsimtek made a helo-addon, not a weather or ATC-addon. If somebody did, you can bet they'll get feedback on their work as well.

Why do we want all systems modeled correctly, then? Engineering is a part of flying modern aircraft. We want correct flightmodels, we want perfect systems-modeling and a convincing damage-modeling. And from all of this, the correct 3D-Model should be the most basic thing to be correct. If we wouldn't care about correct models, we'd all fly Crimson Skies IV instead.
-
If it doesn't have to be switches, I can only recommend the P.I. Engineering X-Keys programmable keyboards. The software is easy to use and you can program even complex macros. http://www.piengineering.com/xkeys.php If you don't mind working with electronics, try searching ebay for switch-panels. There are numerous offers for car-tuning and boats. You just need a keyboard-matrix or similar chip (or a decomposed joystick) to make them work via USB.

Standby ausgeschaltet? Beim Treiber, beim Monitor oder in der Windows-Energieverwaltung?

Important? Where did you say something important? You just stated your personal opinion. If you do, I guess you have to live with other posting theirs.

And what is stopping you from offering your own server + TS3? :music_whistling:
