  1. I fly all roles. But if we get a multicrew B-17 that would probably be my primary ride.
  2. The radio frequency is reset to a non-working area when talking to the JTAC. The beep is just the warning. Just had the same problem.
  3. Apparently Steam only tracks the time the launcher is started. Knowing that, 22 people starting the game at the same time doesn't sound quite bad!

True. True. True. Aaaand true. That's +4 if I count correctly.
  5. Apples and Oranges... Their point was to create the war in the English Channel in WW1. There was no Battle of Britain with WW1-planes, not even daring to speak of bomber-fleets, that were able to attack London in a large scale. Besides that, going 160 km in a 80 km/h plane is a much different task, than going the same distance in a plane with 400 km/h+...
  6. :surprise: Thanks for sharing!
  7. Try that with -30 °C ;)
  8. Actually I do. But if you quote just this little sniplet out of the context, you should, too. ;)
  9. That is how ED looked at it. I wrote from the customers point of view, to explain, why the reactions were the way they were.
  10. To be fair, these statements were not against a Mustang in DCS per se! There were just a lot of people disappointed that instead of working on the next modern jet ED promised, they decided to model a single WW2-dogfighter completely out of the context, without opponents, maps and campaigns. A project, which postponed the next module, no matter what was said. And the effort put into modelling th Dora as soon as possible shows how right these protests were. :music_whistling: Now adding a WW2-environment to DCS, with new planes, new maps, new vehicles, even new effects and on the new engine is a whole different ball-game. So, let's not pull facts out of the context to make our arguments.
  11. Absolutely. The bottom line of this discussion is, that most of us appreciated this weekly update not just for its informations. But for keeping in touch with the community so frequently.
  12. Really? My feeling is, that with this "Oh, by the way, this was the last of the weekly newsposts" is already a huge step back into the radio-silence-era: When the weekly updates were introduced, there was a lot of insight into why decisions were made (even for the very statement: why to inform about even the thinnest news). Now we get such an information in a form that a larger portion of the readers apparently didn't even see the statement.
  13. The really funny thing about your post: If you don't mind the weekly updates, you can simply stop reading them. You would still have the regular newsletter as it is now. And everybody would be happy. Making your dislike a rule for everybody is pretty egocentric.
  14. :D much less spectacular for most part of the community, but exactly my conclusion.
  15. Absolutely! And we will still have to see, if the news posted will make up for a a full month of silence. That's why I still hope Wags will throw us in some bones, when they are ready.
  16. I don't know if that formula is that easy. But I agree that we have a lot of other forum-examples, where the discussion threads are officially started for each update and maintained over a few hours, with a good chance of getting additional answers to details. That eliminates the trolling before the update and doesn't raise expectations sky-high before anything is posted at all.
  17. Still don't see what's wrong in going a little crazy on waiting for the news. It's a bit like waiting for a mini-release, or christmas, maybe. And after all, we're all like little boys, when it comes to DCS-releases and news. If we weren't, we'd probably all do more serious stuff with our spare time. :music_whistling:
  18. I doubt the "heaters" were the reason. There's simply much more to tell on a monthly basis than on a weekly. "Hey, we edited 215 lines of code this week" is simply more cheesy than a 3 pages long changelist, new model-pictures and stuff like that. But you simply can't deliver these goodies on a weekly basis. I still hope we see updates on an irregular basis, like when milestones are reached, new models are ready or stuff like that. It's just the friday-regularity that was ended. We'll see how they will handle it from now on.
  19. While this statement is true, it doesn't counter what was said. Having an additional interest to come here doesn't mean you have no interest at all participating in the forums. Stopping the weekly updates will at least end my friday-check-ins with the mobile phone. An occasion on which I rather often find other threads of interest to participate. It's no rage against a decision. It's a simple and logic conclusion.
  20. Don't think it's optimized for anything other than Tianhe-2. On the other hand: Of 3,2 million cores, DCS would still use just one.
  21. Interesting people knowing about PRISM don't think that whoever has access to all data can alter it to their needs. @ original topic: In general I trust no video or statement that starts with "The truth about..."
  22. Absolutely love this!
  23. It's not the fonts. Its us staring at that text thinking "WTF - gimme the video!" *Skips intro*
  24. Not exactly. A swapfile is a file on your harddisk that is used as virtual memory. If you have low RAM, this swapfile is used more frequently and of course the HDD is much slower than your RAM. I would also not recommend enabling vsync, because it restrains your FPS. If you have a monitor with 60 to 75 Hz, you have a optimum vsync-rate of 30 FPS. If you have a standard flatscreen with 59 Hz, you end up with a capped framerate of 25. Check if you have enabled vsync and try to disable it. If you want vsync, make sure you have tripple-buffering enabled in your graphics driver and set the prerendered frames to 2 or 3.
