  1. I’m sure ED are eternally grateful the Kickstarter fell short of the flyable B17 milestone
  2. I think your money will be safe for some time…
  3. From Lyman’s “Jail Busters” It seems the Mosquito tailwheel mechanism was quite fragile in rl.
  4. The rare use of the Ju88, 110 and 410 as a dusk, night intruder over Britain seems to be a missed opportunity. Harassing late dusk landing B17s, and night Lancasters was very successful the rare times the Luftwaffe attempted it. It seems the German high command wanted as many allied aircraft falling over Germany though for morale purposes.
  5. As I understand it modules bought on Steam provide a key that can be used in the stand alone version of DCSW. Steam does not honour 3rd party keys so modules bought from the ED store cannot be installed in the Steam version. I like Steam but in this case I’d install DCS standalone.
  6. The Boston A20 is a very underrated aircraft.
  7. A must for South Atlantic 1982
  8. There has been talk of Orbx making stuff for DCS. Nothing has appeared though. Same goes for A2A. Orbx, maybe if the world map “Earth module” or whatever appears someday.
  9. RN Avengers saw quite a lot of action in the ETO. Both carrier and shore based. http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/weapons_grumman_avenger_UK.html

Maybe it’s just me with my 21st century H&S head on but surely they would identify the modified fuel tanks. The consequences of a mix up would have been devastating…
  11. With the aircraft we have, and will probably get in future, a WW2 Germany map would make sense. A Cold War version for Fulda Gap scenarios would be good also.
  12. No body, armless, no body, options please. The seat with no body looks weird imo, moreso as the belts are sat there undone. I really don’t understand why this isn’t an option, the Ka-50 always had it iirc.
  13. Yes. Silver Dragon (?) posted a couple of moths ago that Octopus G had a further unannounced DCS project on the go.
  14. A pre and post D-Day Normandy would need two maps I suppose. Maybe the Channel could stay as the post June 1944 map. That does mean big changes to Normandy though, and people have already bought it…
  15. I wouldn’t hold your breath. Yo-Yo said a few weeks ago he hasn’t seen anything from Mag 3 or Mr Octopus.
  16. That's got nothing to do with ED though. As per the thread title…
  17. I agree about the development rate, things do seem to have gone quiet lately. The AH-64 does seem like a massive project though. Apparently the Normandy map is being updated and expanded, the 2022 teaser featured the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben. The advantage of the BoB is that as a theatre it’s neatly contained to a few months in 1940, you can have historical missions on a relatively small map and the aircraft types heavily involved are quite few. Also everyone’s heard of it, marketing gold… I do realise the BoB isn’t everyone’s choice though, so I’ll leave it there…
  18. For starters I’d say flyable Hurri, Spit Mk1 and Bf 109-E. AI 110, Ju87, He 111 and Ju88. There are others like the Do-17 and BP Defiant but you can make credible BoB missions with the suggested planeset. The Spit and 109 E are variants, the Hurri would be new, all 3 are available at Duxford and fit into the low hanging fruit category regarding data and pilot experience. The rest would be AI initially. ED suggest that they are more familiar with props now and their more simple and generic systems mean the development rate should increase? From the 2022 teaser it seems the Normandy map is to be expanded, will it absorb the Channel map?
  19. The interview with Nick Grey mentioned the Hellcat quite a bit, also Battle of Britain aircraft appeared likely. The Mosquito is in the wild, personally I am very surprised there hasn’t been an ED WW2 2022 module (or theatre if they were to concentrate on the BoB for 2022) announcement by now.
  20. Aye. The real life Mav seekers liking for the “mk1 combat hedge” rather than the pilots targeted vehicles has been discussed before.
  21. Plenty of Spit IXs with the RAF in 1945, just not quite the version we have. The XIV was a rare bird, ten IXs for every single XIV almost. The XIV was a hot rod and flying them was a job for the best pilots, guys not suited were RTUd back to the IX squadrons in quick order. As a Spitfire fan it would be interesting to have the XIV in DCS just to see how different it feels to the IX.
  22. It’s just so asymmetric though. Is orbiting a battlefield in an A10 dispensing ordinance while responding to no threats that interesting in DCS?
  23. In my opinion China Sea would be a great map for DCS. For a dynamic campaign you could even have carrier air group battles, scenarios like this. Is there a better use of the FA18 and Super Carrier?
