The late contra prop version would be exciting

The BPF presence in the Pacific was hardly insignificant after mid 1944. Over 200 ships and subs, 750 aircraft. 4 battleships, 6 fleet carriers, 15 escort carriers, 11 cruisers plus many more support craft. The British had an interest in waving the flag in the Pacific and by 1944 the US was very determined to keep the British role to a minimum and solidify their position post war. An aside, British armoured deck fleet carriers were built like tanks. Kamikaze hits were little problem. In the med Illustrious took 6 1000lbs bomb hits in quick succession from Ju87s and kept on trucking.

They were withdrawn by September iirc. The RAF had to stop them as to their credit when they got through they created havoc, particularly on air bases and radar stations.

WW2 aircraft are a lot easier to maintain than Cold War jets. The BBMF Lancaster is good for now. The Vulcan was retired from flight mostly because BAe chose to withdraw regulatory and engineering support that would be expensive to find elsewhere. The airframe and engines are supposed to be in good condition and the aircraft is still maintained to airworthy standard.

I didn’t say it should “remain dead” I’m just reporting what’s happened with the project to date. A Ju87 (and Me 110) would be vital for BoF BOB and Eastern Front scenarios.
-
There was a Ju87 in the works from one of the 3rd part dev’s (Polychop?) but I seem to remember some intra team strife being rumoured and it’s a dead project now.

I’d pay good money for a Hawker Typhoon

Yes. The People’s Mosquito team have said the Broughton blueprints make manufacturing the parts and applying for the necessary certification much easier. -

That’s the problem with RB396 being such a rare airframe and the Sabre. Merlins are a relatively known quantity but still incidents do happen. They may get the Sabre running, but would you fly it, in that airframe? It’s the same with the Paul Allen FW190 D13, it’s mostly original so it’s historical value is so great you can’t risk flying it sadly. Of course if you have complete blueprints, as with the recent find of Mosquito documents, then you can build an exact replica and getting an airworthiness certificate will be much easier. -

Extinct is a good description There are rumours of running Sabres but they may actually be examples of other Napier engines. -
The P39 probably fits the low hanging fruit category. Available data, several flying examples. It would be interesting in DCS, so different to just about everything.I always enjoyed flying the P39 in IL2. However it doesn’t fit the maps we have at all…

Yes the posts in that thread detail the problems of modeling these aircraft well. ED may not model these aircraft but it’s possible 3rd party developers will. However with a lack of data and reports from pilots of flying examples how much will just be invented? -
Official transport aviation module in DCS World!

The C130J HAWK kit enables all sorts of guided ordinance doesn’t it, Hellfires, bombs. May be the usual issues with classified stuff though. https://www.janes.com/defence-news/news-detail/2020/05/20/a6972d02-320f-4a02-a38f-dee791db4b5f -

I am convinced now… This situation has gone on too long.

I only check UK 3080/3090 stock and prices but depressingly both seem to actually be worse than a few months ago It seems high end GPUs are now crypto mining cards that are very occasionally used for gaming… I don’t see how this can be anything other than a disaster for home PC building and PC gaming. If I can’t buy a GPU then I also don’t need a new CPU, SSD, RAM, mainboard…

How difficult to take off and landing on carrier in WW2?
Mogster replied to ju8712124822's topic in Pacific Theatre
Just reputation wise I’d imagine the F4U will be at the more difficult end of the scale, only the Seafire seems worse… -

They look good in 2D and are less resource intensive?

Really it’s another of those polls where people are going to vote yes… because there’s no reason not to… A Better poll would be to ask if the community would prefer ground combat modules or …. something else….

Steering while taxiing: which wheel brake control works best?
Mogster replied to wernst's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Yes. The WH really needs a couple more axis. -
Realise this sounds negative but I’d rather the focus remained on aircraft. Development pace is already slow enough and there’s little enough focus (none?) as is.
