I think you’re underestimating how thick and therefore heavy polycarbonate has to be to stop even small calibre bullets, it needs to be around 20mm or thicker. Weight is critical in helicopters, armour in helicopter terms tends to mean Kevlar or ceramics. https://www.armormax.com/blog/how-thick-is-car-bulletproof-glass/

I thought with a WW2 straight deck carrier barriers were used to protect aircraft that had already landed and moved to the front of the deck. You’d land, catch the wire, the barrier (tall net type thing) would be moved and you’d quickly taxi to the bow area. The barrier would be lowered and the next aircraft would land. I could be wrong though, or maybe this wasn’t routine.

The P39 my not be Russian but they received 5000 and most Russian aces got kills flying the type. Some squadrons preferred the P39 to home grown late war Yaks and Lavochkins and were flying the type in 1945 ( and maybe the P63…) DCS P39 would be interesting, I always enjoyed flying it in IL2.

Yes, tried it today so can corroborate.

Why is the Spitfire so terrible?
Mogster replied to Cunning_Fox's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Aye, we still have the foggy instruments that appeared about 2 years ago. Compared to the newer DCS aircraft it feels like there’s a light on permanently shining from behind the pilot also. -
Like The Channel map it’s more of a tech demonstrator than a useable map. At least it’s free and provides a refreshing change of scenery to fly in.

Will next WWII aircraft module made by ED be released in 2022?
Mogster replied to dcn's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
You’d think DCS A6M would be a goer, there is one flying with an original engine. Maybe the Ki43. There’s only 1 surviving Ki-84 and it was badly looted after being returned to Japan for display iirc. Very sad. -

The issue with Pacific content will be references, especially for Japanese planes but not exclusively. -
Diving maneuvers cause replay to dysnc
Mogster replied to Nealius's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Even when it’s working the replay system is horrible. -
Aren’t ED working on refining the way cooling works on piston engines?

Yes, there were the usual Russian problems of build quality, durability, fumes in the cockpit and dodgy plexi. I think Brown mentioned these along with the limited and poor quality instruments and high cockpit workload. These practical problems won’t really be reflected in the sim though. Low level the La-7 will be a perfect beast.

They can also be obsessive and lacking in any sense of proportion.

And the PIAT for UK and commonwealth.

They’d just had their busiest month ever so the reasons for the servers close down are more nuanced than you suggest.

Future of DCS complex modules, thoughts and opinions
Mogster replied to Devil 505's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I do wonder how ED will continue to support the number of full fat modules they have on the roster. At the very least changes to the core engine will make updates necessary and stuff will start to look dated visually. With a normal product you’d draw a line in the sand and move on to the next thing, that’s not the plan it seems and so the ever increasing module list is dragged along. I remember when Maddox announced the end of IL2, the massive flyable list was cited as a reason for starting afresh. Not meant as a criticism, just something to ponder. -
I think the dev’s said they’d add them if there was evidence they were actually used on the K-4. The gunpods in particular seem to have fallen out of favour by late 1944. No images/info relating to the K-4 having used them. If we get the F/G then we should get them.

“Red Storm Rising” For me that was the biggest disappointment of the whole VEAO shambles. They were a UK based team intending to work on UK assets and even scenery.

Mogster replied to Devil 505's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Unfortunately too much is classified I seem to remember. For DCS from WW2 to now it seems there’s either data but it’s classified so that can’t be used, or no data in existence. Stuffed either way…
