  1. Online I’ve seen the term “gator” attached to the A-7… I’m not sure if it was in common usage at the time. Great nickname though. I’d almost like to see that added to its DCS listing when the time comes
  2. Typhoon/Tempest V would be incredible in DCS, especially as they are a big part of RAF heritage and are pretty much extinct. However didn’t Nick Grey say modelling the Sabre to the level they want would be difficult as so little exists? He suggested the Tempest II would be much easier with the Centaurus as Centaurus are two a penny. With it’s lack of actual combat the Tempest II just doesn’t excite me as much as the Tiff and V though. H-24 madness https://www.hawkertempest.se/index.php/contribution/photos/329-napier-sabre-animations-created-by-sergio-pasquali
  3. If the AH-64 was fast and agile why have the US Army spent so much time money and effort trying to procure a fast/agile (cheap…) scout helicopter? The AH-64 is an ATGM truck and world leading in that role.
  4. As I understand it. Nick Grey is CEO of ED and director of TFC. ED was founded by Nick Grey and Igor Tishin in the early 90s, with Tishins death Nick Grey is the sole owner of ED. TFC was founded as a private aircraft collection and warbird maintenance facility by Nick Grey’s father Stephen Grey, Nick is director.
  5. Add in Scotland and you have a WW2 Banf Mosquito map. It’s also the EF2000+ map also. Id love to see a map like this in DCS.
  6. Yes. I think that’s the only way forward, possibly with a further variant such as a B/C. People will moan but it’s not reasonable to expect updates for ever after an initial purchase.
  7. The A10-A is a legacy aircraft from EDs early Lock On and Flaming Cliffs products and priced as such. Like the F15C, Su25, Su27, Mig 29 it’s not suddenly going to be updated to full DCS module status, it’s a limited systems an non clickable Lock On module. Those aircraft aren’t waiting to be finished. Nick Grey is director/owner of TFC and Eagle Dynamics so both remain linked, even if the TFC logo isn’t displayed quite as much as it used to be.
  8. El Salvador also had P51s also I think.
  9. A while ago on the ACS podcast Ron Zambrano of Razbam mentioned the team had a working 172 in the DCS engine. Just for internal use, no plans to licence and market it as a module currently though.
  10. Yes it would nice if vehicles/buildings continued to burn for variable lengths of time. Random secondary explosions would be good also.
  11. From the recent ACS podcast Matt Wagner suggests ED have 150+ full time employees now, that’s a lot of people and doesn’t include the 3rd party developer staff. It appears separate teams are working on dynamic campaign, multi threading and the whole world map engine, although he didn’t specify how many people they have on each task it didn’t seem like each team was made up of one individual… I agree AI performance is a major roadblock for a DCS dynamic campaign currently. However I do remember EECH having very dodgy AI but I was still drawn in by the campaign even though weird stuff would go on. I think it’s an area where perfect is definitely the enemy of good enough.
  12. I suspect we’ll see 2 seaters with gunner positions but not large multi crews. An aircraft with lots of crew stations like a B17 or Lancaster would be an enormous ammount of work to complete to the quality level of the existing single seaters and also difficult to monetarise effectively. I do think we could see something like this from a mod team, they could get away with short cuts ED couldn’t and they don’t have to worry about paying people and charging $200 for a module…
  13. A6M-5 v F6F-3 early would be a good matchup I think. A6M or Ki43 would be absolute turning beasts in DCS, they’d drive people crazy.
  14. For some reason this weather wishlist attracts posts on all sort of random topics.
  15. From the ACS podcast Ron Zambrano interview a while back it seemed Razbam have been selling a desktop training package for the A29 based on DCS. I’d imagine Razbam wouldn’t want to compromise those contracts. Its a shame as the A-29 and its varied loadouts would be great in DCS imo.
  16. From Matt Ws recent “Air Combat Sim” podcast appearance ED do have a further unannounced helicopter in the works. 90s - early 2000s AH-1 would make sense.

The Nelrods both provided Normandy campaign support. 2 for the price of 1
  18. A modern GPU is designed to run a 100%, it just means your CPU is feeding enough information to keep it fully utilised, CPU at 100% seems to be viewed as more of a problem. If your GPU is running at less than 100% then either in game gfx demands are very low or your CPU is bottlenecking your system.
  19. UK Army Air Corps take the SA80 carbine, and a lot of other stuff it seems. https://medium.com/voices-of-the-armed-forces/apache-pilot-whats-in-my-kit-1103dd3291ad
  20. I wonder if the OP has throttle and collective mapped to the 2 WH throttle levers? That’s the default setup for the Huey and if you operate the 2 levers together understandably nothing happens apart from a master caution alarm. I agree the WH throttle works OK as a collective.
  21. The formation could prevail or collapse under attack also.

RV Jones book “The Very Secret War” has a lot of info about WW2 radio navigation, radar and countermeasures as well as plenty of other stuff. Jones was a scientist in RAF counter intelligence during the war so it’s a first hand account. I was surprised how important radio navigation and countermeasures were to both sides, particularly during the night bombing campaigns.
  23. 2X B52 RAF Fairford UK 18/02/22. Extreme crosswind landing. Interesting to see the whole gear castoring.
  24. Why?
  25. They are just very simple split flaps aren’t they, not the sort you’d find on a modern aircraft. Lots of drag and not much lift, almost like an air brake.
