  1. Fuel tanks are in the fuselage, not in the wings. They feed the Left and Right engine separately, but are actually Forward Cell (left engine), Center Cell and Aft Cell (right engine.)
  2. +1 and the ability to place TACAN stations on map using the mission editor (real working ones, not the mods available.)
  3. Agreed. Lots of differences. But the rest of this system is described in the same way, allowing to interpret as a simplification of the manual. The gear downlock override is still there, described in the same manner. Serves the same purpose. Just take the time to read the TOs if you wish to compare. Pretty common feature, many airplanes had/have it. Even Boeing's products.
  4. TO 1F-5A-1 has a better description of the landing gear lever. Page 1-34 "...and can be moved from LG DOWN to LG UP position only when dc bus power is available under the following conditions: landing gear struts fully extended or the landing gear lever downlock override button is pressed and held. When the weight of the aircraft is on the struts and the lever is in the down position, a locking solenoid is deenergized, preventing the lever from being moved from LG DOWN position. ..." So according to the TO the weight on the struts does prevent the gear handle from being moved from LG DOWN, it seems. If moving the gear lever to LG UP while on the ground should retract the landing gear is another story. I do not see what the fuss is all about.
  5. Actually that is exactly what it should do. When on the ground, the gear lever is locked down by a solenoid. Check page 1-69 of the TO 1F-5E-1 "LANDING GEAR DOWNLOCK OVERRIDE"
  6. Gear doors are closed during normal operations, including after landing. They can be released for inspection using a switch on the right gear well, and this is normally done for preflight checks. You can observe gear doors are open before engine start, and they close as hydraulics pressurise during engine start (about 0:37). Crew chief releases them again during his walk-around (5:27), closes them at 7:27.
  7. Was requested a few times before. Would be nice to have.
  8. double post. Edit: Not sure if modeled in DCS. Vent seems to be plugged or something.
  9. Yep. Can happen when taking fuel too. http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/2/5/5/1133552.jpg?v=v40
  10. Looks great! Thanks!

    CCRP bombs

Just curious... when one says "pull up" - do you mean recovering from the dive or climbing as in lofting the bombs?
  12. Looks really cool! I have no idea if this is doable, but: Any chance to make it shoot up in the air, then disappear leaving a lot of smoke behind? Would not need any targeting/guidance... sure be nice to try and find a launch site and take it out before the weapon flies away!
  13. The campaigns are very nicely done. Can't go wrong with any of them.
  14. +1 for the probe. Longer legs would be good for the Tiger. Do not mind a clip-on workaround, would prefer a new module (expo version). Aware it is not a trivial task.
  15. Jettison back to off position after dropping tank?
  16. A quick youtube search found me this video. I'll try and leave it here:
  17. +1 for the ground crew. I would be happy with a very basic representation that sort of pops-up when you call the crew chief for preflight checks/start coordination, including ground support equipment, and would have no problems also if everything just faded away after taxiing out. Just like the wheel chocks, they appear and disappear as requested. I do not see anybody asking "dude where did the wheel chocks go after removal? Totally unrealistic, immersion killer!"
  18. F-5E is a very convincing module in terms of FM. Performance is very close to the real -1 manual. Not much of a night fighter -can be flown at night, but effectively employed? only in basic, low-threat scenarios. IMC flight is quite basic also, recovery in weather as bad as TACAN approach minimums is quite doable. Weapons, countermeasures, depends on the mission of course. Tactics play a big part. For employment, try the -34 weapons delivery manual data and adjust from there as needed. Worth getting? By all means. Can not think of a better module. But i like old-ish planes.
  19. Speed-brakes out for engine shutdown and start is correct actually. After starting engines: BEFORE TAXI ... 5.Speed Brake - In; 6. Flap Thumb Switch - M/AUTO; ... 11. Pitch Trim - Check and Set. From T.O. 1F-5E-1 page 2-9.
  20. I like the idea. As someone that spends more than a pair of minutes planning, I believe that briefing and planning should be enjoyed and executed in a 2D environment. Better planning tools would also be welcome, but that is a different matter altogether. Think of the VR headset as your helmet. Put in on when in the cockpit. -dolfo
  21. Thanks, voted. I think briefing and planning is underused, and not very enjoyable in VR. My opinion is that proper mission planning should be done in a 2D interface (would like better planning tools also, but that is another story).
  22. Is there any chance to plan and brief a mission in 2D environment and fly the mission in VR? Sort of like only putting your helmet (VR headset) on when sitting in the plane? -dolfo
  23. Also no argument that there are clear (clearer) combining glasses. There are tinted ones also, hence the warning in the manual. Personally I would prefer a darker glass (and a lot of different stuff too, but I digress). I am aware this is not a vote, and sure the end the developer will do whatever best represents the variant they aim to portray.
  24. I do believe it can be annoying in low light. The warning in the -1 states "under low ambient light conditions forward visibility through the glass can be significantly reduced". If it is abnormal and needs correction, no argument. But I would prefer a tinted glass that helps me in bright daytime. Not much of a night fighter the F-5 is.
