  1. I am not sure how true that is. If anything that might have been the case with the old engine but that might have changed with DCS 2.5. DCS would be limiting them selves if they did not support it. Like how are they ever going to do a B-1 Lancer if DCS is not able to fully support all functions. Plus Razbam had asked followers on their FB page a while ago what non combat airplane they would like to see and the most requested was the C-130 because of the many variants and mission possibilities. :smilewink:
  2. I was searching for anything related to the E-2 Hawkeye in DCS and found the wishlist thread devoted to it. You should go show your support there also and keep it alive to get more people interested in it. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=151980
  3. I would also like to see some sort of AWACS aircraft in DCS. But I don't think it could be anything based on an airliner because the only AWACS the USAF operates is the Boeing E-6 Sentry which is a large 4 engine aircraft based on the 707. Which by the way NATO also operates. Hopefully the USAF replaces the E-6 with the new E-767 in the future. But maybe there might be a better chance of a smaller and cooler Naval AWACS such as the Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye to be added to the growing number of new Naval aircraft capable of operating off aircraft carriers.
  4. I recently found a new article of the status of the KC-46. It is just barley going to enter service that is how new it is. http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/23513/kc-46-tanker-hits-major-milestones-but-deficiencies-still-unmitigated-as-delivery-looms
  5. The F-117 would be interesting and cool to have in DCS but I am not sure all of its systems have been fully de-classified. Below are two of the most recent articles I have rad about the F-117. In one of them they mention that they will eventually be destroyed except for a very few destined for museums. The site also has links to other great F-117 articles they have done in the past. http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/22515/heres-a-highly-interesting-radio-recording-from-the-f-117s-latest-flight-over-nevada http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/22487/new-video-of-f-117s-flying-out-of-tonopah-emerges-despite-their-fates-being-sealed
  6. There is also the newest KC-46 tanker based on the Boeing 767 which is a twin engine. But since its is so new I am not sure of the feasibility. There is also a AWACS variant called the E-767 but only Japan operates them.
  7. I also agree with Doum76. Even though a Super Hornet would peak my interest I acknowledge that it's still too early to be thinking about doing a Super Hornet. I much rather ED and the other 3rd parties focus on doing totally different aircraft that have available de-classified data. Then maybe in years to come when the necessary data becomes available it will become more feasible to do a SH right.
  8. There is a way to regain some lost flight data but it is not easy or cheap. DCS ran into the same issue when they started development of the P-47 Thunderbolt. Here is their quote: "In addition to completing the final touches to the Spitfire (fuel tanks and bombs), our other primary focus has been the P-47D. More so than any other warbird though, this has been the biggest challenge due to the lack of data. Following the war, all wind tunnel and needed flight dynamics data was destroyed. To overcome this, we are using Flow Vision to recreate the needed data. This has proven a long and expensive endeavor. However, to create the detailed flight dynamics that DCS requires, we consider it mandatory." I agree that a map of Vietnam should be done. It would be very popular. I also think a map of North Korea would be very popular nowadays not only to recreate the Korean war but there would be a lot of others interested in creating what if scenarios if you now what I mean.
  9. The KC-10 which is based on the DC-10 might just fit DCS and your needs perfectly. Plus if firefighting ever got introduced the Firefighting tanker variant would also fit in nicely. I am sure you would get a much more enjoyable kick out of flying firefighting missions down low over a wildfire than just flying along in a plain airliner. :smilewink:
  10. I think now a days automatically inflated life vests are more common along with color dye when water is detected. Remember the scene from Top Gun. :pilotfly::helpsmilie:
  11. I haven't had to eject over water yet so I did not know what actually happened in the water. So I also agree this issue should be addressed now that there will be a lot more traffic over water due to operating off aircraft carriers. However I think just having a life vest that automatically inflates when you hit the water along with some green dye to be more visible to the rescue helicopter just like in Top Gun. By the way seeing this scene again got me a bit misty eyed.
  12. Here is a interesting video that shows how aerial firefighting is coordinated and executed. They also present some of the hazards pilots face. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fjF2KQ75TY
  13. Why not just wait until the next sale to buy the F-5 and use those savings towards the F-14? :smilewink:
  14. Another factor that would make aircraft like the type you described far more difficult for them to ever be completely declassifed is the fact that they are stealth. This adds another level of complexity and secrets compared to regular non-stealth aircraft. A good example of this is the F-117 Nighthawk which was the first stealth fighter in service. It was retired in 2008 and most of its sensitive systems are still classified. And the latest news is that most of them will endup being destroyed. You can read more about the it here: http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/16092/pictures-emerge-of-covered-f-117-being-transported-on-a-trailer-in-southern-nevada
  15. If you want to fly 5th and 6th Gen fighter jets in DCS you are going to have to wait a really long time for them to be retired and declassifed for 7th gen jets. Or just go play other simpler simulators or combat games on consoles.
  16. Your best bet to play out those missions and more might be the C-130. A while ago on Razbams Facebook page had asked what none combat aircraft would people like to see. And the most requested aircraft was the C-130 because it has so many variants that it could be used for a wide range of missions that would appeal to a far larger market.
  17. Two of my favorite fixed wing firefighting tankers I would like to see in DCS someday are actually variants derived from former naval anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft the P-3 Orion and the Grumman S2 Tracker. The great thing about having these particular aircraft in game is that they could be used in regular combat or wildfire missions. In this video you can see them in action along with other fixed wing aircraft that are used as Aerial Firefighting tankers. Surprisingly I found the P3 as being quite capable in military form. This may very well be a good candidate for DCS. Lockheed P-3C Orion Armament: Bombs: 20,000 lb (9,000 kg) Missiles: AGM-84 Harpoon, AGM-84E SLAM, the Standoff Land Attack Missile, AGM-65 Maverick Sonar-buoys: 48 Torpedoes: MK-46 and MK-50 Miscellaneous: mines and depth charges
  18. If aerial firefighting was ever introduced to DCS the Chinook might have more appeal to be used in firefighting missions. I just found out that there have been two companies in the last few years that have been converting Chinooks for firefighting duty.
  19. I agree that most full fidelity modules take time to learn. Even real military pilots have to take time to get qualified in able to fly a different jet than what they were flying before. I have found it is best to just pick one high fidelity module and stick with it once you find the right one for you. In my case its has been the Viggen. I have become so familiar with it now that I hardly have to think of how to operate it. I would like to fly other new aircraft like the F-18 but I know I don't have the time to realistically devote to learning a new airplane. But when the F-14 comes out I will defiantly have sufficient interest to get qualified in a new aircraft.
  20. I had this idea come to mind the last time there was a thread post for civilian aircraft. While it would be good to have more variety of aircraft in DCS I don’t think the typical civilian aircraft would be an ideal fit for DCS’s uniqueness of tactical and mission planning anytime soon. However DCS would be ideal for another civilian sector, Firefighting! Instead of dropping munitions you could drop water and fire retardent’s on wildfires. That is something that would actually go along with DCS’s style of a combat simulator that has a target and mission planning except the player would be combating wildfires. I could already see using a firefighting variant of the Heuy already found in DCS to go drop water on the burning site and after the drop you fly to the nearest lake to refill or to the base and fly back out again until the fire is controlled. Then it would be cool to use other fixed wing aircraft such as the C-130 that Razbam is considering developing. I would imagine that DCS could potentially attract far more new pilots if it featured firefighting aircraft and associated missions than just regular civilian flight of which there are already plenty of other competing sims for that. But next to none that I know of that are worth mentioning feature fire fighting aviation. Its an untapped market! My vision of firefighting in DCS is as separate missions intended only for firefighting in the civilian sector or as the air national guard that has been called to aid in a forest fire. This would also allow the ability to plan different missions as scenarios. I could see this becoming very popular with various firefighting organizations looking to train and prepare them selves better.
  21. I came here looking to see if a Tiger meet skin had been done for the Mirage after seeing it on a recently released RC model. Even though I prefer the version on the RC model because its more visible which makes it easier to keep track of in the sky, But I do like this skin because it has just the right amount of flash to fly into combat with. Here is the RC model I mentioned.
  22. That is foam RC Corsair made my Hobbyzone. But I think this P-38 would be more your taste. Its currently the best EPO foam electric P-38 available made by Flightline RC. :smilewink: Check out the review flight here
  23. I became a big fan of the Hellcat after being introduced to it play War Thunder. Which led me into RC airplanes when I found out they made an all electric foam RC hellcat that is alot more affordable and easy to put together than it would had been years ago using Nitro engines and complex build it your self balsa kits. So now I would love to have a Hellcat in DCS! This is the same RC Hellcat I have.
  24. Agreed, Its just a matter of time an F-16 module comes to DCS. So it should had been excluded from this poll. I also agree that there is a greater need for more Russian jets that are as modern as possible. Maybe some of the the export versions of the Mig-29 and SU-27. By the way the F-4 Phantom will already have its arch nemesis from Vietnam the Mig-21.
