  1. This. The "jack of all trades, master of none" route isn't a recipe for success in a war with a technologically advanced opponent. You can't win a war without air superiority, and you can't obtain air superiority without airplanes and aircrews trained specifically for that role.
  2. This can be done with the Data Rocker switch by first pushing FUNC.
  3. Well that's a damn shame, I need an excuse to buy another SSD lol
  4. I get to ride in C-17's and C-5's once or twice a year. It was super exciting the first time I got to ride on them, but now the most exciting part is getting off after landing lol. I also have flightline access at Buckley, Vandenberg, and CCAFS. I've been pretty close to the CO ANG F-16s coming and going at Buckley and at Vandyland I've seen a few different drones, C-130's, CA ANG F-15C's, and just a few weeks ago I got to see my first Atlas V delivery via an AN-124.
  5. Please report back here with results, seems like it's a likely culprit. If you get improvement I'll probably do the same.
  6. I would very much prefer that it's KC-10 IN ADDITION TO KC-135. Both are still used.
  7. Intriguing. I also have DCS World 2 on a 2TB HDD. Error checking shows no errors and I defrag it once a week. However, DCS World 1.5 is on the same HDD with DCS World 2 and I have no freezing issues in 1.5. Perhaps it's just that the textural demand is greater in NTTR than Caucasus?
  8. Correct. The squadron weapons officer will plan the loadouts and chaff/flare programs for a given sortie. For training there is usually a squadron standard load that everyone will fly with for a given CT or RAP flight.
  9. I have experienced the same MP freezes in NTTR as well. I did some troubleshooting with a friend last night and discovered that during the freeze the aircraft still responds to any control inputs which leads me to believe that it's not necessarily a network issue.
  10. I use the G13 ministick for the DATA and SEL rockers on the UFC. Pretty unconventional, but it works well for me.
  11. +1 for the G13. I originally got it as a poor man's ICP/DED for Falcon BMS but I use it for almost everything now. For the A-10C I use M1 as the UFC which makes CDU input a breeze. I also use it for TrackIR control and taking a screenshot, plus a few lesser used items M2 and M3.
  12. I would take bug fixes and new military airfields (still holding hope for Fallon someday) over a tiny little civilian strip...to each their own :)

  14. Yes, both the Sniper XR and Sniper ATP can provide color video.
  15. Yea clouds are super broken in 2.0 right now. Best not to use them in Nevada for a while.
  16. Mutual support is how you get out of that situation, and it's really the only way to truly and realistically escape. You (the engaged fighter) would call defensive and tell your supporting fighter to press. He would then accelerate into the WEZ and kill the bandit while you continue to defend with scissors or whatever the situation dictates. Then you would quickly re-establish elemental integrity and either continue the fight if there are more bandits or reset to prepare for the next fight.
  17. Here's another fine example of what a realistic hover looks like (skip to 2:45 ish):
  18. I'm not holding my breath either. Best just to enjoy what we have and have the expectation that we'll never see an update. Then if you do get an update you'll be pleasantly surprised, and if not, you weren't anticipating one anyway. Less heartbreak that way :smilewink:
  19. I'm playing devils advocate here, but I can fly the Huey and change frequencies just fine via the clickable cockpit. A well trimmed Huey is more than stable enough to maintain a heading +- a few degrees, maintain altitude +- a few feet, and maintain airspeed +- a few knots, for the few seconds it takes dial up a new freq. That said, it would be nice if AP was usable in MP servers simply to be able to throw it into an orbit around in the AO and man a door gun :gun_rifle:
  20. This might just be a placebo, but sling loading feels different in 2.0.5 compared to 1.5.6. I've never had a break in DCSW2 but breaks occur regularly in 1.5.6. I've also noticed that having a shorter length seems to increase the likelihood of a break, although that's probably a placebo as well. Either way, the fuel leaking after a break needs a fix ASAP.
  21. That's cool, but the topic was specifically about airshow performance.
  22. I call BS on it as well. I don't have hard numbers but I can't fathom how a slick F-35 could possibly have a lower DI than a slick Viper. Add that to the fact that the F-35 has a lower TWR (allegedly) and the laws of physics tell you that the Viper wins the TTC to 10k competition every time.
