Unable to launch non-Steam DCS using WMR (Reverb G2) with StreamVR.
tn_prvteye replied to tn_prvteye's topic in VR Bugs
That's pretty much what I do...except I have a shortcut to SteamVR. I plug in the G2, close the portal, then click SteamVR. When I click that it opens up WMR and SteamVR...Steam doesn't open. I could then open DCS from my desktop. Although no combination works for me anymore...and no games at all work in VR...either Steam or otherwise now. As much as I love the G2, I'm really missing the ease of my old Rift. Thanks BigNewy, but I already do all that. It was working fine before the new SteamVR update drop yesterday. It's not a DCS thing. -

How do you launch WMR for Steam without opening Steam First? And how do you launch DCS while you're in the Headset? I've got he non-Steam DCS version. Do you use the controllers to open up your desktop view or something? -

Update. Nothing works in VR...not just DCS. So disregard. -
As title says. When I open DCS.exe it loads the program like the headset isn't on. It says the headset is enabled on the VR settings page. My process that worked before: Plug in G2...Mixed Reality Portal starts up. I then start SteamVR (without Steam running). Then start DCS.exe from a shortcut on my desktop. Worked fine...no need run Steam, or use the controllers. Latest SteamVR did somethin' ver. 1.16.8

No idea where to even begin <EXTREME STUTTERS OUTTA NOWHERE>
tn_prvteye replied to tn_prvteye's topic in VR Bugs
Already done all three. a)I disabled NV cache and actually have seen no difference (maybe a small improvement?) b) don't use it c) don't use wallpapers. I haven't seen it happen again recently, but I haven't been playing as much. Thanks for the tips, though. Could help some other users for sure. Also, anytime I use the F10 Map it tanks the FPS. So I've been trying to avoid that, but it's a known issue. -
I second this. Especially now that we've got the Jug, and with the Mossie coming soon, this is kind of an important feature. It's hard to replicate real-world tactics dropping only in a dive.

No idea where to even begin <EXTREME STUTTERS OUTTA NOWHERE>
tn_prvteye replied to tn_prvteye's topic in VR Bugs
I'm pretty sure this was the one. I created a "Campaign" using the new Beta tool. This was the first MIZ from that campaign that was generated. F-16-Syria01.miz -
Not even sure which forum this should go into. Rig: i7-9700K@5.0, 32gb RAM, 2070Super, Reverb G2. Latest Nvidia hotfix driver, updated Win10, SteamVR, non-Steam version of DCS. Usually get okay frames 30-45ish on the Syria map. Last night I was playing mission created with "Briefing Room": https://akaagar.itch.io/briefing-room-for-dcs Great program so far. Anyway, I was playing a mission on the Syria Map, and it was running fairly smooth...I had just taken out a few tanks in my Viper, and then turned to an oncoming MiG-29. Just before I get into AIM-120 Range, I get MASSIVE stutters...like 0.2 FPS. In VR this is obviously jarring. I tried Alt-Tabbing and didn't do any good. However, if I paused or hit ESC, it was silky smooth. I could look around no problem. Un-pause and it's a PowerPoint Presentation by a sloth. I'm not sure if it's a WMR, Reverb, Steam, Mission scripting, F-16C, DCS, Syria Map, or a PC issue. Anyone else had a case of sudden stutter?

Any realistic missions/ campaigns for the Viggen?
tn_prvteye replied to CommandT's topic in User Created Missions General
Supercarrier is implemented as an option, but I haven't flown from it yet. I THINK it should populate with any aircraft that have a mission, but not sure. -

The Flight paths are still a work in progress. I usually re-route my flight (especially with the Viggen) in the Mission Editor. You can delete WPs and add WPs, but not with precision, in the Liberation GUI. -

Yup...tanks, arty, whatever you decide to deploy is in the mission. Along with the Enemy. CAS flights attacking, Escorts...escorting. It's all there. It's still a work in progress, but it has alot of options you can customize...infantry or not, moving vehicles or not. Smoke on the Front lines, JTAC (not helpful with the Viggen, but it's there). However, like I said, it CAN tax your system if you "buy" too many units. You can also mod whichever faction to use whatever aircraft. It's very flexible. -

That was probably an earlier version. Airfields are indeed populated, and you can even choose them as a mission target. It DOES slow down your machine if there are alot of parked AI, though. The latest...2.3.2...is VERY busy. With moving units, infantry, MANPADS, airfields that are populated (both Allied and Enemy). -

I've been running DCS Liberation. https://github.com/Khopa/dcs_liberation/releases It's a bit daunting at first, but well worth it. You kinda have to manage the whole air war, but I've been playing the Viggen exclusively with it. Strikes against S-300 sites using the Bk90 is hair-raising fun. -
Yet Another "Should I Get a Reverb G2" Question...

I thought they sent out the pre-orders from October and before? Yikes, man! I hope you get it soon! -
Yet Another "Should I Get a Reverb G2" Question...
tn_prvteye replied to tn_prvteye's topic in Virtual Reality
Not too worried about moving to WMR or SteamVR...I work in IT, so I get paid to solve tech issues. (Of course I say that now, so watch me pull my hair out) Thanks for the answers, gents...if I take the plunge, I'll post results to help other users on the fence. It'll still be awhile before they're in stock, obviously. -
Currently I'm running a Rift CV1...Core i7-7700 @5.0, 2070 Super, 32gb Ram, and running off an SSD. Got the PPD set @ 1.4...non-Steam version of DCS. FPS is acceptable for me (SP only), although I can't give you numbers off the top of my head. I'm worried the G2 might push my hardware past that limit. I've saved up to get one, but some of the DCS reviews have left me nervous. I'm weary about giving Facebook (Oculus) any more money, and I only ever use the headset for Flight-Sims (Il-2, with some SW: Squadrons and NMS thrown in). So professional opinions, anyone?

So I have no interest in flying the JF-17, but I LOVE the Gripen. Is it worth buying just to use this Mod?

Same here....seriously freaked me out at first. Back in now (obviously). -
Good to know...AND less work for me!

Thanks, I guess I'll just need to live with it. If that's realistic, I'll stop beating my head against the desk trying to hit the target. :D

Ok, is there any way to consistently get the BK90 on target? I've set up a training mission with some APC/Tanks and set that as a Waypoint...right in the middle of the cluster. I've made sure the TERRNAV is 5-0, I've also tried a manual NAV fix using a landmark. I've adjusted the Target Point using the Radar. I've made sure I take off right down the middle of the Runway. I've set the QFE at the Target point using the Kneeboard reading. Everything about the approach is by the book. But my waypoints always seem to be off by just enough to barely miss the targets. The only thing I haven't tried is manually adjusting for Wind in the CK37 (there is wind in the mission). I thought the Doppler Radar would compensate for wind. Also, I've read that you must be in NAV mastermode for three minutes before take-off...is that accurate? I'm not sure I'm waiting that long. Anything else I'm missing? Closing one eye and sticking out my tongue? Sacrificing a chicken?

Is there an updated DCE Campaign (using the latest version) that has a Land-Based, Blue Squadron set in the Caucasus? I believe all the latest Campaigns are Carrier-based. Hoping to fly a Viggen campaign, but I can always modify it to fit what I want. I know there's an older Viggen campaign, but that's a bit outdated now.
