  1. ...and unless you delete it and start from scratch you are using compatibility settings for BS1 to run a way newer version of the DCS engine in DCSW :( Always left wondering if those compatibility settings are even needed with the newer graphics engine and/or newer graphics cards/drivers etc. Nvidia never bothers to update their profile for DCS at all. I think I was using an 8800GTX SLI or a 295GTX back then...
  2. SLI and cross fire are worth it if you drive multiple displays otherwise for DCS better to turn it off.
  3. By "plug and play" I meant that DCS detects the WH and also MFDs and it is all setup for you in DCS for the A-10C You have to do very little setup compared to other aircraft. If you use target it "breaks" that and you have to have a unified profile from target to make it work...
  4. Yeah unfortunately I only bought a 2GB card I couldnt find a 4G card at a reasonable price point. It was fine with 3 screens but after I added the 4th I can easily run out.
  5. I just want one for the extra VRAM - Performance of the 680 is great until you drive 4 monitors with it. I can run out of VRAM quickly with All the eye candy turned on. SLI is no help and I don't currently care for the AMD offerings.
  6. In DCS World. Each aircraft has its own control profile in the game, why muddy the waters by adding TARGET on top of it? The game uses whatever you've setup. By using TARGET you also end up breaking the plug and play functionality of the TMWH when you fly the A-10C...
  7. My advice: Buy the Full BS2, do not download or install it. just download the small module for it that plugs into DCS World. Then you can uninstall BS1. If you buy the BS1->BS2 Upgrade it can be a hassle later on as posted above. It's a huge saving on HD space since DCSW is the base for all modules now. You don't need multiple installs of 90% the same material just to play online either. If your running a terrabyte HD and not an SSD and space doesn't matter , do what you will but it is a huge timesink to reconfigure controls for 3 or 4 ED products...
  8. No need for fraps, just use the Windows built in snipping tool. It's in Start>acessories>snipping tool. Unless you use Windows 8...then your on your own...
  9. You could try to open the new default file generated with Notepad++, erase everything and copy paste the contents of your old profile into it.
  10. I believe it only works if you haven't done a reformat, upgrade or hardware change. If you look at the files they have a number generated with them that represents which controller said profile goes to. So if you upgrade your OS it will usually install all new drivers and redetect the hardware and generate a new hardware ID number for it. thus these GUID numbers are invalid because those hardware ID numbers no longer exist. Edit: I should mention that this is just the way Windows works, not a limitation or fault of DCS
  11. Electrically no there is no center the switch is on-off-on. If you don't believe this, go into the Windows game controler panel ONLY buttons 9 and 10 light up when you move the switch through its positions, nothing is on when it's in center. ED makes it happen with LUA script behind the scenes. I know this is case as I had wondered how it worked and started poking around in files to see how it works. You can assume that it is in center position if neither of the 2 other switches are active. They use this lack of input to generate a command and send it to the game. If ED didn't make this custom code for the WH all the switches would be what they are in reality on or off.
  12. It's the Air quake crowd vs the hardcore crowd. It will probably go the way things did when DICE tested PC players against XBOX players in Battlefield. Needless to say the XBOX people were destroyed so badly they decided against implementing cross platform multiplayer.
  13. If you use target and play multiplayer or fly multiple aircraft you will have lots of issues, stay away from it for DCS. As previously posted its plug and play as far as DCS WH is concerned, if items are greyed out you can sometimes select the offending controller( click any selection in the column) and hit "clear category" this will ungrey them for you, of course you will have to remap all the buttons for that controller so best to write down what you want. There are also several posts on how to reset your controls if they get messed up. Some pitbuilders or advanced users have also modified LUA scripts to get the functionality of buttons and switches. It can be done but it's pretty drastic and time consuming to go this route.
  14. Don't think there is anything there you must download and install the videos separately. I know there are training missions for the P-51 that work but the FC aircraft are just videos now.
  15. They should have just made it a $500.00 setup instead of cutting corners. Sales of tm wh show that people are willing to pay for quality..now it's too late. Good idea, piss poor execution.
  16. Looks like they nailed it pretty well with that. FM looks amazing.
  17. Maybe it's not the model of the shell but the calculation for all those little shells tumbling around since it happens when they are not in view. Edit: might help to also have a CPU meter and GPU like afterburner running and observe what happens when firing.
  18. Most of the time in A2A combat you don't have time to notice how good the 3D model is...either that or they are miles away and you are launching missiles at relatively small target and you are getting a really low LOD version of it. I'd definately pay for updated buildings, airports scenery etc. Aircraft carriers, ships trains etc would be nice projects too. This is stuff you see a lot especially when your in a chopper or flying low. Just wonder how new objects would look or work when they release EDGE...trying to make new 3d objects for the old terrain may be a dead end :/
  19. Nothing says that any sim is mutually exclusive, I've got probably 5 or 6 on my computer as it stands. Only the super die hard old farts stick with what they know and refuse to budge off it or give anything else a 2nd look. All modern sims have their merits and a place on my harddrive. XP10 is a pretty good civilian sim and has a decent future ahead of it. I really want to try the Ramsees 777 but alas there just isn't enough hours in the day :P
  20. He did say the 3 were set in an eyefinity group so it's treated as one monitor as far as the games care 3 viewports will kill your FPS. You should be able to pick your res (5880 x 1080) in the DCS config screen, set for single monitor and off you go. The touchscreen for Helios is a whole separate issue.
  21. I tried the XP10 64 bit demo last weekend. Not too bad. It looks and runs smooth and the ground environment is pretty good compared to FSX you don't need addons to have street and building lighting etc. But like a vanilla FSX install you pretty much want to get scenery and addons to really make it shine. I'll probably buy it when there are more 64 bit addons available. With the 32 bit version I kept running out of memory and having to turn stuff down. Doesn't seem to be the case with 64 bit at all. Good to see someone else besides ED moving to 64 bit.
  22. Been wanting Heathrow but I'm by no means too broke to get it. Giving away an NGX is a huge act of generosity. It is a sim within a sim and a pretty amazing piece of work. You'll have to pry my copy out of my cold dead fingers :P

    Sale

All IRIS addons at fspilotshop.com $10.00. Maybe not appropriate for this forum but anyone thats developing for DCS deserves a bump IMO. So go buy their stuff if you still use FSX its good. Edit: I know there's no niche in DCS for big aircraft IRIS but maybe you can port over this to DCS :P (Alenia C-27J)
  24. I was wondering about the gamespy issue thanks for the info , I got the add-on anyways just to support VRS. Hard to decide what to fly these days considering all the great flight sim products out there.

    Combat Pilot

Airports, aircraft, scenery etc. All the bases that you operate out of are redone from default FSX. The aircraft seem to be detailed pretty good. Huge chunk there.
