There should be an official driver package from saitek soon I would think the tech at Saitek told me they usually update to findows update first befoer a driver package is released on their website.

Have you ever considered that your power supply may be too small? You are using a 600watt PSU with a lot of high end hardware. If this were an Nvidia based system I could say with some assurance youd probably need about a 750 watt PSU minimal. Your system probably works ok in windows but when you start loadiing the components and your power requirement jumps up things get shaky. Alao does your motherboard have an auxillary power hookup for supplying extra power to the PCI-E ? If so is it hooked up? I was going to post this earlier but forgot... Windows update is pushing new saitek drivers. They are published on March 5, 2009. These newer drivers are version 6.6.34 WHQL drivers. The problem is if you unplug your stick or move it to a different port, or anything that makes the driver install Vista will grab them from windows update.. The problem comes in when not every device gets updated properly and basically screws up the function of your stick. I had to munually update all the HID devices in device manager and each time I checked it downloaded a new driver... you need to manually do this for everything .... This also affects the cyborg keyboards.

I just had a similar problem I reported this on the saitek forums. Aparently there has been new drivers released to windows update but NOT on the saitek site. Somehow windows update replaced 1 of my driver files but not all of them. I went into device manager and right clicked and picked update driver on anything mentioning saitek(Mostly in the HID column) after I did that I had to reinstall the magic mouse driver. Botom line is if it installs just one of those drivers from windows update you need to replace them all. even if you uninstalled all the saitek software from your computer...... the second you reboot it will download and install the new one off windowsupdate. Try to update all your HID devices for saitek and see if this works for you ... took me all day to figure out what heappend to my stick and keyboard....

It's simple econonomics. PC gaming is on the decline and consoles are on the rise. Developers are just catering to consoles where they can sell a million copies at 50 bucks each instead of 100k copies to PC users....It's all about the money. Even Microsoft want's to kill PC gaming but they can't. Theres some interesting articles on the subject if you google it.

I remember this same thing happpened with some guy who was making F16- cockpit seats. Person comes up with a great idea...but just bites off more than they can chew and spends the money in the meantime :/ The best thing to do for people who don't have the skill to build their own cockpit is to have the seller list it on ebay or something. Something with buyer protection. At least this way the builder would have 30 days to deliver and the buyer can cancel or get ebay involved if its approaching 30 days and there is no product.... You should look at your controls config, sounds like something is setup improperly. What kind of controls are you using to play this game?

If you run high resolutions (ie 1920x1200 and higher) and use AA and/or AF then there will be less of a performance hit in terms of your FPS. It will not really boost your FPS at lower resolutions because this game is more CPU dependant than it is GPU dependant. Ultimately most of the processing power of high end cards is unused unless your using a 27" or larger display. Hopefully in newer versions of their graphics engine they are able to shift some of the load from the CPU to the GPU or at least put in more eye candy :) Right now if you want better performance and don't have other games that would benefit from Sli/crossfire then you'd be better off to spend the money on a CPU /motherboard upgrade.

You sure you didn't turn on the shkval's auto scan?

Without rehashing an old thread: Also might want to look at your joystick....This is a known issue of random crashing for X52/X52 pro users. Not everyone is affected by this but there are many people with this problem. You need to rename or get rid of the file called lua-direct_output.dll in your C:\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable (or whereer your game is installed) folder. Dont forget to adjust the tacking gate size on the shkval either if you have it too large you won't get it to lock up properly.

I don't get this either , a lot of times I set it to fire 2 vikhr's at once when I'm going up against Abrams tanks.. they both fire at the same time and both hit...I've also noticed that if you are locked on a target and for instance if your wingmans missile impacts and kills the target before yours you can redirect the missile onto another target by pressing and holding the lock button and slewing the shkval onto a different target. I also do this when I target manpads and support vehicles with the gun. Lock, fire a burst, press and hold the lock and slew to the next target, release the lock and it grabs the new target. Fire another burst before the first burst hits the first target, instead of waiting for the lock to automatically break when you get a target kill. Normally when it's locked you can't do this once its locked you can't slew until the target is dead. So am I improperly using this or does it actually work this way in the real thing?

Thats my biggest complaint about the DirectOutput SDK....you have to be a programmer to use it :/ The plugin for FSX is nice it allows you to change the radio frequencies. We probably need the physical cockpit interface that they havent released yet so we can actually read realtime stuff from the game to display it on the MFD.

That scroll wheel works great for adjusting the size of the shkval targeting box.

I use the zoom view a lot, it's found under axis commands in the options. I mapped it to the slider on my throttle. I really helps a lot if you are running at a very high resolution or are using a smaller screen. Note: This is not the same as the magnification on the shkval

It could be that after you input your macro your clicking too fast and you hit the arrow that pops up under the X and inadvertantly selecting a different command? I would also reccomend to upgrade to version 6.6.0.38 of the SST progaming software , the beta link is in their forum, works better than any other version to date. BTW there is a cockpits and HOTAS subforum you should probably post questions like this in there.

I'm not sure if it's the game or the programing software but occasionally when i notice that the buttons are not working its because the control key is stuck (not pysically stuck, like windows thinks its pressed and it's not) I have to hit it a few times then it returns to normal. I don't use short release delays or anything like that on my macros either...

I learned to fear those main guns early on. It took me a while to figure out that I was being shot down by tanks because my helicopter would just explode for no aparent reason. Then several times as Im lining up with the shkval I see the main gun rotate and point straight at me, a puff of smoke and I'm vaporized. They definately engage you.

I agree the multiplayer base is lacking :/ Once the game hits regular retail chanels I hope we see an influx of new players. Maybee if they ever release on Steam there will be a bunch of new people and more servers poping up. I read somewhere that ED figured like 90% of the people wouldn't fly online...kind of depressing. The online community and servers is what keeps game interest going. Beating the AI up over and over again even with a dynamic campaign gets booring after a while. It's the comradarie and friends you meet online that keep you coming back....the human element, the stuff you remember for years and years. Obviously people are buying this game since up to this point it has only been available for online purchase. I think ED just needs to figure out a way to get their product out in front of more people. There are thousands and thousands of people who play FSX online, do they know about DCS:BS? Probably not....would they like it? Probably.

What hardware are you using? It sounds like it could be related to drivers, the X52 crash problem mostly only happens to people in Vista.

It is because that when the first stage is pressed and you go to the second stage, the first is still sending input. Sounds like a great use for the 2nd stage though let me see if I can make it work.
