with the altitude channel on I believe you have to set the altitude with the collective brake/altitude set. I do it out of habit now. I was told that in the real thing you have to squeeze the brake handle in to adjust the collective and that there is a microswitch in the handle that sets the altitute when you use it. Obviously 99% of us don't have a collective that works this way so thats why they made a button for it.

Definately sounds like an icing problem to me :) I asked this way back when the russian version was just out, icing is modeled so you want your switch for engines in anti ice and don't forget to turn on rotor anti-ice. Wait til you get lost in a snowstorm in the mountains lol...nothing like flying in a white out.

Question to ED, re. sound errors, screen freezes
Slayer replied to splashman's topic in Bugs and Problems
I checked the motherboard driver file on the Gigabye (v 5.10)website compared to the refrence driver on Nvidia's website(v5.11). That one is slightly older, you may want to give the newer refrence chipset drivers from Nvidia a try. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce3_winxp_5.11 Also I had one of those ATI cards that you are using. It acted strange and would crash out with frozen screen in Battlefield 2142 etc. Other games would run flawlessly. After hours and hours of trying to get tech support I got a tech that new instantly that there was a bad memory chip on the card...they replaced it and never had anoter prob. Funny thing is my friend had the same card and his went bad too, looked on the internet at the time and found out that this card was notorious for having a bad batch of memory. Once you test with your old card if it works then this might be your problem. -
Theres updated beta profile software that might help the few still having problems. I started a new thread for feedback in the HOTAS/Cockit forum. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=38139

Launcher.exe error with different graphics cards
Slayer replied to Supersonic's topic in Bugs and Problems
Even though the Nvidia video drivers are the same for 7 series - 200 series you guys shouldnt just pop in a new graphics card without first uninstalling the old drivers. If you didn't update your drivers to the new ones off Nvidia's site you might be trying to use a driver that doesn't properly recognise the hardware. What driver versions are you guys using? As far As I know this game doesnt even use OpenGL for graphics. So that error is strange. @Zakk in your error log: "Faulting module path: D:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\SDL_mixer.dll" Part of that error message you got looks like the sound mixer in the game crashing? I'd highly suspect the Realtek audio. I would try updating your driver: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false With Windows7 there is a beta driver from nvidia for that OS on windows update, you should use that. Read here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/windows_7.html -
What exactly is the error your getting? try to write it down maybee we can help with a bit more info. I remember another guy had a runtime error or something similar related to MS Visual C++ runtime. Had to get the updates from windowsupdate or something. I think in the end he ended up reformating and all was well because his computer was really screwed up :/

2 things for you guys: -The SaiDOoutput is a service, it is under the services tab of Task manager , not the processes. -Do yourself a favor and remove the lua-direct_output.dll from your "C:\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\" folder...or wherever you have installed the game. This should take care of most of your problems

I believe the manual says that the leader should always use number 1. I think this is more of a operational procedure instead of a requirement for the hardware to properly work pg 2-66 and 7-2

begging for help - performance in multi screen
Slayer replied to ruprecht's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hmmm I thought one of the new features of the 180+ series of Nvidia drivers was to add multimonitor SLI. Theres setup diagrams and such on the Nvidia website. SLI may not boost the FPS a lot but might help you to at least get 2 screens running without window mode. -
The common belief is that the DiectX 10 in Vista is the way people are getting the FPS boost. Supposedly the API's are multithreaded in some areas so people with multi core cpu's get a benefit from it. The reason it won't work for XP users is because the device drivers are also different: IE you can't just copy the directX from Vista to XP and get the boost because at the driver level the XP drivers don't cut it... This is what they will be doing a lot more of in Windows7 / DirectX 11 It will be backwards compatible with the earlier generation hardware so everyoen will get a FPS boost even if you aren't running on the latest and greatest... here's a really good article on it: http://www.bit-tech.net/bits/2008/09/17/directx-11-a-look-at-what-s-coming/1 on the multithreading: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2008/08/01/directx-11-optimises-for-multithreading-and-gpgpu/1

Continuing Problems Getting Black Shark to run.
Slayer replied to Lionman's topic in Bugs and Problems
Why so many attempts to download? Maybee something in one of the install files was corrupted , but not so bad as to not cause the install to fail. I had to redownload 1 of the files myself due to something similar to what you are experiencing. It would be nice if they made a MD5 checksum file for the downloads so we can verify the files. :/ Also I would try to install to the default directory. It should work just fine there, it does for me anyways with Vista Bonkers: I'm not sure its safe to just relocate the game directory. I'm pretty sure you will have copy protection/registry/shortcut issues. On my setup if a shortcut becomes invalidated then you cant even open it and I end up having to restart Explorer.. -
It's a super secret british missile defense system. Similar to the United States' Star Wars program? :P

I hope one of the devs reads this post and puts this into the patch they are working on.

Since playing DCS I also picked up racing sims again... does anyone on here own a G25 Racing wheel? How is it and is it worth the price? Looks like the ultimate for racing sims but they still sell for a steep price tag. Thinking of picking up one off Ebay if I can find one cheap enough.

I'm 99% sure Vista doesnt support gameport controllers anymore and with XP you have to hack it. Some guy on the Creative forums hacked a joystick driver into XP and Vista 32 bit but if you have any 64 bit operating system you are out of luck :/ It's a real bummer. I have a MSFFB1 gameport and some nice CH rudder peddals I can't use anymore....

X52 - Latest (beta) software - No Left / Right Modifier
Slayer replied to miguez's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That version is broken with right shift key. Download the beta, it's a well documented bug in the older software. -
x52 pro!! Anyone know how to program the 3 mode buttons?
Slayer replied to rapid's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
A couple of pointers to save you some searching later: -Unless you have the latest beta SST programing software you will not be able to program the right shift key. -Also do yourself a favor, go into your \Eagle Dynamics\ka-50\bin\stable folder and remove a file called: lua-direct_output.dll (rename it or delete) otherwise you will get a stupid message on your throttle MFD that says "RULEZZ SAITEK" removing this file will also fix random crashing of the game. -
I get this sometimes after being in the air for a half hour or so. The only thing that fixes it for me is a trim reset, now I have that maped to a key on my stick. Keep in mind it will reset to the default pre takeoff state where the nose will pitch up so you shouls hit trim reset, stabilize then hit trim again. This also happens sometimes when Im using auto turn on target, it just randomly starts turning any direction it wants, even if I have a target locked up and in the bounding box. I remember reading something about accumulated errors, don't know if this pertains to the trim for sure though.

Did you issue commands to your wingmen to return to base? Maybee they are waiting for you to take off again?

With CS4 Extended you can open a 3D window , load a model from popular programs such as 3dsmax and see your results as you work on it. very cool.
