I'm not too excited about this either. To be honest it's at the bottom of my shit-list. But what I would really like to see (european aircraft) isn't going to happen any time soon anyway. So in the mean time, whatever, as long as it keeps this brilliant DCS series alive. But is this fixed wing? :D

It's obvious that ATC has a lot of room for improvement. Repeating the last transmission is a really basic thing that would be nice to have.

They definitely do seem more structured now. BBC reported defected Libyan army officers have joined them recently. Perhaps that has made the difference.

Indeed. They can't trust someone with a finger on the launch button. I just think that considering there are reports of destruction of single military vehicles, surely they would have reported on taking out the SAM sites which is a much bigger achievement.

According to this link on the first page of this thread, the air defences are concentrated around a few cities. The SAM sites around Benghazi, if still operational, are likely operated by the opposition so perhaps there has been no need to take them out.

I find the landing (or touch-and-go) at 4:25 in this video quite impressive. I mean the angle it approaches the runway turning into it right until it's down.

Laser (or IR pointer?) Anyone know if visible beam though NVG's is realistic? I'd think you'd only see the point on the ground.

The barrels inside are spinning and the linked belt with ammunition is moving! And you can't even see this unless you strip some pieces off the aircraft. Great detail!

Very tempting to try it now that there is a fixed wing aircraft in DCS. To be honest I was hoping it (either beta or final) would not be out for while because I'm too busy with work and studies right now. I've been eyeing this for a few days and just thought I would test how long the download would take... 6 minutes with 100mbit connection.. Even more tempting now to just pay and start playing. :doh: Must resist until work is done... but DCS is too much fun!
