I don't see how this would be possible. Would they go against a Russian veto? And then go fight Syria with backing from Russia and Iran? It would be a mess. Even if Syria was alone, it would still not be like Libya.

Quite impressive utilisation of available resources to create a video like this. First thought was where is the plane that pilot bailed out of? :D Seriously DCS: P-51D is, even now in beta, really great and I don't even like the P-51.

Only speaking for myself I have never been positive to the integration of FC with DCS. But I haven't seen as much worrying about that on the forums so you're probably right about the amount of opposition. It is a bit different though. FC is a different brand, despite integration. Personally I want DCS to be what someone described as the bastion of quality flight simulation. That's what it has been this far. ED certainly has a plan even though we don't know exactly what it is. Indeed maybe it's not something to worry about. We'll see.

I share the worry of degradation of the brand of DCS. It should be in a class of its own. There are already plenty of low fidelity flight simulators/games. The argument that you only buy what you want is missing the point. We all want DCS to be around for a long time and for that it's important to keep its niche. To stick with the niche or not is probably one the most important business decisions ED has to do. But since us consumers cannot know what ED is planning with all these new 3rd party developers, we will just have to wait and see.

Flying was never something that interested me much when I was younger. I'm 23 btw. My interest in this is something that has come up in the last few years. It's basically come out of my interest for politics, geography and history. The concept of being able to project power on a large area. My interest has also widened a bit to include the technical aspects of it. Flight simulators let me explore this interest further. Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 and Janes F-15 did not hook me. Il-2 was just for fun. Lock On opened my eyes and DCS got me.

Not all is great. With the previous patch I had no problems at all. Very fast loading times always, no ctd, nothing bad really. Highest settings and very smooth framerate at any time. Now it's unplayable. It takes 10-20 seconds to start the application. Any single click in the ME requires you to wait for 10-15 seconds for response. Loading of missions take a couple of minutes now. Even at lowest settings there's massive stuttering and not all textures appear to be rendered. Average 5 fps at best. I reinstalled everything according the list on the download page and it is the exact same still so that's not it. Funny how my experience of this patch seems to differ quite a lot from everyone else. :D

Beautiful. The Su-25 has a very special place in my heart.

Steam just makes it really simple to organise and store your games/simulations. Never had any problems with it. It's really brilliant if you format your system drive every now and then. It's all there in one place. Just log in and download/play what you have in your library. Considering it's all digital content in the end, having a box laying around doesn't make any sense. What you buy is still just a license (immaterial).
