That's also the only answer I could think of. Can't do anything but accept it and hope we don't have to wait as long for the next map. This: I haven't seen it but maybe I'll find some inspiration if I do. :D

I know such tools usually require more work than the actual output of them but if you're going to start over then that once again opens up for the question "why Nevada?" when you can do any similar size region in the world in that same planned time. Nevada has no relevant conflict history and no factions that could theoretically have a conflict. When the A-10C was released this was thought of as a training range map but with the information available now it appears that there will be a time during which only the Nevada map will be available. Maybe I'm the odd one on the DCS forums that want realism but I always create realistic scenarios and can't see what I'm supposed to do on this map. Except maybe ignoring names on the map and navigation... pretending I'm somewhere else. I'm still hoping for a new Caucasus/Georgia map at some point.

Dev field trip to record Mi-8MTV2 audio for DCS!
eurofor replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
If the sound quality will be anywhere near that of the UH-1H, which I don't doubt for a second, it will be amazing. Thanks for your hard work Belsimtek! :D -

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2326070/Lonely-swan-grounded-fell-love-helicopter-mate-died.html "The swan flies around the Eurocopter EC155 helicopter he has fallen in love with after his mate died." "Dozens of different choppers fly in and out of the runway every week - but Whooper only has eyes for the EC155. Air traffic controllers at Jersey Airport say the infatuated swan recognises the five-tonne chopper’s twin-engines whenever it flies in. Whooper immediately takes to the skies to try and reach it before chasing it down the runway, then sitting and nestling by it until its owner flies off again."

The air is not dense enough and 10000m is not enough considering you would also need to mount the rotor blades during the fall because the rotor diameter does not fit inside the cargohold of those aircraft. :smartass:

Would it not be enough to drop it from 8000m if that is where you want it? :smartass:

Video title says Mi-24 and it has mixed footage but at 0:14 there is a cockpit view of a Mi-8 firing rockets.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1463806&postcount=26 Screenshots from one year ago doesn't look too bad I think. A ground perspective could work with that but of course foliage could be a lot thicker and would have to be for it to be meaningful. In the open you are at the mercy of the aircraft.

The Mi-8 is at least as iconic as the UH-1. Probably more. It has more recent interesting history too. Belsimtek has already proven themselves and I'd buy anything from them but the line-up certainly does not disappoint. It's going to be an absolute joy flying this.

Haha! Nice! Here's one actually readable (if you want). It looks great as long as you don't zoom in too much. :D

Great stuff!

The problem is indeed the terrain mesh, texture resolution, trees, models for structures and static vehicles, etc. Seems unlikely anything is going to happen until EDGE is ready for release and that may take a while. Personally I couldn't think of a more interesting region than the Caucasus and Georgia. I really hope the current map gets upgraded and not scrapped when we get there.

I don't have FC3 but I just looked at the current state of these in a youtube vid and I have to agree. If the strategy is to release mid range modules and then maybe take the next step up for a later release with the Su-27 and F-15C then why not release the Su-25 and A-10A as they are currently?

Barrel rolls with a huey ? is that possible IRL ?
eurofor replied to FZG_Immel's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Don't know what the manual says about it but I have seen a Bo-105 do it. Here's a vid (not mine): -

ED has got to do what they got to do to stay in business so if lower detail modules are more popular that may have to be a stepping stone. Personally I'm not interested in anything sub-DCS standard and will wait until when and if these modules reach DCS level. My view on the apparent popularity of FC is that it is simply because of the lack of alternatives for some aircraft and mission types but I may not have the complete picture.

Should we keep the autopilot and weapons hint display?
eurofor replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Famous last words. Can we also have a random "can I have a go? is it my turn now?" :D I never let my co-pilot fly. -

Sim of course. That's what DCS is about.

Haha, same. I could have sworn I heard a helicopter in the distance as I fell asleep last night. The sound is great. Really immersive.
