Doesn't discord have it's own noise reduction system?

Ammo Storage and Fuel Storage destroyable.
Greyman replied to Shadow KT's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The ability to deny your enemy access to resources might become a thing for the purposes of the currently WIP dynamic campaign, but to prevent it being an overpowered tactic, the storage units would either have to be really well defended and/or there would need to be lots of them. -
Maybe try it with a hot mic and watch the VA log, whilst making various noises, such as heavy breathing, crying, bashing your head on the desk etc. You know the sorts of noises that playing DCS will often prompt :)
-
It'll probably just be a placeholder, for the purposes of the mini-update video, and another image will be included for the released version.

Glad to be of assistance, but now closer to having to convince my other half that investing in a 3080, maybe ti, is an even better investment, when they drop. :) It might even be later this week, so i'll need to get to it.
-
Looks like this one might be worthy of its own thread then. Speaking of threads, I wonder if this one has now run its course and should be made read only, to make it easier for Hollywood_315 to spot things that might need correction?

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218861 is probably going to be my next h/w purchase, as it should make flipping cockpit switches more like the real thing than using a traditional mouse.

Well, VAICOM is one of my favourite mods and i never take off without it. It does need a significant investment of time to learn the comms phrases, but, for me at least, that time has been well spent. If you can't spare that time, then you are probably right not to use it anymore, but that is not the fault of the mod.

Why SAMs already appear on SA page at the start of the mission?
Greyman replied to 5ephir0th's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
The range lines don't seem to show up when a hidden SAM locks you either, as I've just done a mission where a hidden SA-8 pops up and it didn't show on the SA screen. Having a HARM primed in SP mode and EW showing on HUD helped though. :) -
maybe add an alias of something like "i want fuel", "fill her up" or another phrase that it will recognise. :)

Help with F14 Sound output (ED and HB)
Greyman replied to whiteside's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Do you have your headset set as both the default sound device and default communications device, in Windows? -
Yes. For each module, there will be a PTT/TX button for each radio and you will need to press the right one to transmit over your desired radio. Press and hold, speak and then release.
-
if it works, it should at least reduce the spurious recognitions that VA gets with an open mic
-
Looking at how it is set up, you effectively tell the nvidia software which mic you want to use and it converts it to a virtual device, called something like "Nvidia RTX Microphone". it is then this virtual device that you use in apps like Zoom, Discord and presumably Microsoft Speech. It is reputedly very good at removing anything that doesn't sound like a voice, even adhoc noises. There must be a delay between the software receiving the sound from the mic and it being output to the virtual mic device, but i guess the trick is in the fact that this is done in hardware, making the lag very small. I suspect it will be free with RTX cards, so if you have one, maybe give it a go.

If you tune the radio to the wrong frequency, Voice Attack/VAICOM Pro will still recognise the command, but you will get no response from DCS. To make it an easier transition to full manual tuning, I've found the "Select tunes radio" option in Vaicom Pro very useful. For that, you just need to say something like "Tanker Select" and the radio is automatically tuned to the tanker, or "Batumi Select" and the ATC frequency of Batumi is automatically dialled in. You can select just about any object, including JTAC, by "JTAC" or a name, such as "Warrior" or "Axeman" as appropriate.
-
Well VA isn't listed on the examples of compatible apps, but we'll have to wait and see, i guess. I don't have an RTX card yet, but when i do get one, hopefully soon, when the 30 series come out, it would be a nice bonus if it works. No biggy if not though.

I'm afraid i don't know, but I can't find that command in the back of the manual. Is it on the radial menu? Edit: ah, I've just seen a post from hollywood_315, where he talks about that command and it looks like it is a hands free way of tuning the pilot's own radio, rather than a command that asks the RIO to tune their radio. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4178807&postcount=3782 it's at the end of this post and it looks like the command needs to be imported before it can be accessed
-
apparently, 'Radio mode FM' or 'Radio mode AM' should do the job
-
I guess VAICOM is more for people who want more realism/immersion than a menu would bring, but each to their own.
-
...but one of, if not the main, reason for Vaicom Pro is to replace the need for menus with the spoken word. Why would you need both? As for your existing Voice Attack profiles, you will still be able to use them. You can either import your profile commands into the Vaicom Pro profile, which means you will need to repeat this when VP is updated, or daisy chain them.
-
Maybe change "radio tune" to "radio adjust" or "radio change", as per Hollywood's suggestion below. You might also want to try adding aliases, such as "to", "too", "2" to "Two" in the dictionary, as those words will probably not be required for anything other than 2 in any other VP commands.
-
I'm afraid i don't have any recommendations for a mic, but you might want to keep an eye on Nvidia's upcoming noise cancelling software, that could make using your existing mic a lot easier. Unfortunately, it will need a compatible RTX graphics card, but i still thought it worth mentioning, just in case you were going to upgrade at some point. You could Google 'Nvidia Noise Cancelling Mic' or check out https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/guides/nvidia-rtx-voice-setup-guide/. It looks like it will be in beta very shortly, if not already, so shouldn't be long before it's live.
-
..or use the "Rel Hot" function on the PTT tab, to leave the mic hot for non-Vaicom Pro commands. It's a bit of a pain though, as your VA log gets pretty busy with lots of spurious entries, caused by ambient noise. I think i must make a few "grunting" noises when I'm in the heat of battle, but it's still surprising how VA can find unintended commands among them. :)
-
You might want to use the AUX or INT PTT for any commands that you want to execute in an aircraft without power to the radios, cold & dark for example. The PTT1 - PTT4 buttons require the radio to be powered before being enabled. For example, I have a command, because I'm lazy, to Cheat startup the aircraft, so use the AUX PTT for that.
-
It knows from which PTT you press. For example, for the Hornet, pushing the selector switch forward selects radio 1 and pushing it down selects radio 2.
