Hey guys, The Mi-8 has a wide variety of external lights, but I have no idea during which phases of flight (or under which conditions) a real pilot would use them. Navigation Lights Formation Lights Anti-Collision Lights Flasher Taxi Lights Landing Lights Some of them are kind of obvious (e.g landing lights/taxi lights), but even then there are subtleties and nuances, e.g. Do you use landing lights during take-off? Do you use them during the day? At what point do you turn them off? When do you turn them on during approach? I'd love to get some insights into the correct usage of the various external lights so I can start using them a little more accurately. Any thoughts and insights would be much appreciated.

Excellent. Thank you.

Depends on the aircraft though, right? I'm not really a WWII guy, but many of the old tail-draggers have trim wheels which would presumably be better/more-accurate when assigned to an axis. Haven't tried it, though, so I can't say for sure.

Hey Apache, I just completed the Mig-15 campaign and wanted to take a moment to say a big "Thanks!" for creating such a fantastic campaign. I have to confess that I was originally really skeptical of the premise. I'm a realism buff, and any artifice immediately breaks the immersion for me, so I wasn't initially sold on the credibility-stretching premise. As it turns out, however, you did an amazing job of crafting an experience that felt remarkably plausible and immersive. I was also hugely impressed by the creativeness and execution of the missions. There were lots of clever and compelling twists and turns that kept me totally hooked, and a huge amount of attention to detail. There was never a moment where I felt unclear about what was being asked of me in any mission, either. The dialogue, VO and scripting was top notch. It all felt really natural and really brought the experience to life. I was also impressed with the fact that you realised that difficulty doesn't equal gameplay. None of the missions felt frustratingly difficult. Instead, they all felt geared towards delivering a compelling and immersive experience - and they all accomplished that goal admirably. Finally, the last two missions were a fantastic way of wrapping the campaign. They were both really well thought through and excellently executed. Oh, and you FINALLY gave huge value to my full-price-but-pretty-much-untouched-since-Day-One Mig-15 purchase. All in all, $10 for the campaign was absurdly cheap and enormous value for money. Thanks for your amazing efforts. Hugely appreciated. Pizzi

Hi Apache, There appears to be a bug with Mission 11 - "Paying it Forward" (Mig-15). I've tried it twice now, and on each occasion the two Su-27's and the Su-34 get stuck on the taxiway after the Mig-29s have taken off. I've tried announcing "Abort Takeoff", but nothing seems to convince them to take off. It's easy to take the earlier taxiway to get onto the runway and take off, but it does mean that the strike package is short 3 (probably) critical players.

The way that I do it is to have the "UP" position on the Warthog move the in-aircraft lever one notch upwards, and the "DOWN" position move one notch downwards. It's actually pretty intuitive once you've flown a mission or two.

Finally completed Mission 10 (and had a great time in the process)! Onwards! :)

Excellent! Thanks a lot for the help, Apache. For what it's worth, I'm thoroughly enjoying the campaign. Great job!

The mission briefing also mentions an "MR 10" note in the documents folder and a "full sized attachment", but there doesn't appear to be anything in the mods/campaign/museumrelic/docs folder. Am I missing something?

Does anyone happen to know the constraints for this mission? (Mig-15) Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

So it is! Damn it... I could have sworn I'd completely read through that. :( Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, bbrz.

Just managed to complete the mission thanks to your hints and tips, Apache. Thanks! I ended up "cheating" ever so slightly by...

Hey guys, I can't seem to find reference to the maximum allowable speeds for gear and the two flaps settings. I've looked through all of the obvious sections of the manual (I think), but I can't find the answers I'm looking for. Does anyone know the max speeds? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Apache - that's actually hugely helpful. Looking forward to the patched version. :D

Any hints or tips for this mission (Mig-15)?

I'm not at my DCS computer at the moment, but you're missing something (which almost all of us have missed at some point or other). You need to use "RALT+\" to bring up the menu once you're in the air. This is the "UHF Radio Microphone" assignment. You can find it under the "Throttle Quadrant" section of the Control/Key Assignment menu for the F-5. I'm still not sure why ED have implemented the system such that you only need to use that combination after take off, but there you have it. It frequently trips up Ka-50 and L-39 pilots, too. Hope that helps, anyway.

Just stopping by to say that I'm thoroughly enjoying the campaign so far. I've just reached Mission 8 in the Mig-15 and I'm having an absolute blast. I'm also getting to learn a lot about a lovely aircraft that I'd bought and then totally neglected until now. The Museum Relic has been a great and thoroughly enjoyable incentive to finally get some use out of the Mig-15. Thanks for all of the hard work, Apache.

Input device TrackIr unplugged/plugged
Pizzicato replied to Scoll's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Thanks Skate. Unfortunately, I'm having the same issue with random-but-permanent "Track IR Device Has Been Unplugged" messages with the L-39C, L-39ZA and Mig-15. I've been getting it for several weeks now with all of the latest 1.5.4 updates. It's happened in Instant Missions, self-made missions and, most recently, the Museum Relic campaign. I'm using a TrackIR 5 with the Pro clip, and there's definitely no obstructions or other IR sources/interference in the space. I can't find a consistent, repeatable use case for the "unplugging", but it's definitely infuriating - especially when it happens right in of a really long mission before you've even reached the combat area (Mission 8 of Museum Relic - I'm looking at you). -
Excellent. Just the info I was looking for. Thanks!

Hey guys, I seem to be having trouble releasing single bombs in the -ZA. I can do it just fine in the -C, but I only seem to be dropping in pairs in the -ZA. The steps I'm taking are: Activate the ARMS switch on the circuit breaker panel Activate LAUNCH on the centre pedestal Activate ASP-FPK gunsight on the centre pedestal Activate the BOMBS switch on the centre pedestal Set INNER pylons on upper-left front console Switch BOMB MODE selector to I (middle position between Salvo and Train) Switch A-A / BOMB release mode to PORT (single release) This all looks right to me, but each press of the trigger results in the bombs being dropped in pairs. What am I missing?

How to duplicate Warthog/TARGET profiles?
Pizzicato replied to Pizzicato's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks guys. That gives me somewhere to start. -
Hey guys, Is there an easy way to take an existing *.fcf TARGET profile and effectively save it out with a new name? I'm looking to use a profile that I built for one of my modules as the basis for another, but I can't find any way of doing this. I tried simply copying and renaming the *.fcf file, but that doesn't work. I guess it's something in the HTML that actually identifies the file. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
