Slightly OT, but what was your strategy for the fifth mission - the one where you have to do a sunset sweep against the NATO F-16s? I've tried that mission about 10 times now, and I keep getting my ass handed to me. Any hints or tips you can provide would be hugely appreciated.

Agreed. I spent last night playing through the first four missions of the Sea Dragon campaign in VR, and it was the most astonishingly immersive experience I've ever had in a flight sim. I started out with flight "sims" back in the early to mid-80's, when they were beyond basic. I never imagined that I'd ever see anything as unbelievably convincing and realistic as 2.5 within my lifetime, let alone within 30 years. I'm incredibly excited to see how DCS continues to evolve over the coming years and decades. Great work, guys.

Very nice! Great job!

It's pretty bad in 2.5, too, but mainly after landing. It's not too bad when you're waiting to launch.

AI landing into player
Pizzicato replied to discwalker's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
This is (arguably) even worse during carrier-based Su-33 landings. You've typically only got a couple of seconds after trapping in which to quickly exit the mission or get smashed to pieces by your wingman. You can work around this by ordering him to RTB, but it's not ideal. -

Thanks for the tip, Crash. I’ll give that a go tonight and report back. -

I'm suddenly having the exact same problem. Just suddenly started today. :no_sad: -
It seems that the interactive checklists don't work in English in 2.1.1.6837. If I set the Avionics Language to "Native, the feature works fine... but in Russian. If I set the Avionics Language to English, there's just silence.

Totally SP here.

I just received my custom lenses from vr-lens.eu and I'm really pleased with them. The view is crystal-clear while looking forwards now, and there's only a slight drop-off in clarity when looking towards the edges of the lenses. They're hugely more practical and comfortable than wearing glasses. Definitely highly recommended from my side.

Solved it. I was missing the control directly behind the co-pilot (as opposed to the two next to the flight engineer). Leaving this here so other people can find the answer.

The 5.5v lights (Radar Altimeter and Low Speed Control Indicator) appear to be broken in 2.1.1.6837. Can anyone confirm?
-
YES! The option to switch between two user-defined sets of graphics options would be hugely appreciated!

A DCS-level Su-33 would be amazing. Not sure that I really see it happening any time soon, but it's a lovely thought...

Input device TrackIr unplugged/plugged
Pizzicato replied to Scoll's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Yeah. I just went to play the F-5E campaign and the TrackIR disconnected the moment the mission started. Unfortunately, it makes the whole thing completely unplayable at the moment. Incredibly frustrating. :( -
Hey guys, I'm trying to run the campaign in the latest version of the Open Alpha (2.0.5.1648), but the first mission seems to be broken. The mission starts in airfield view over Creech, and there don't appear to be any aircraft in the scenario at all. There's dialogue/VO that plays and I can maneuver around the space, but that's it. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks in advance for any help.

Input device TrackIr unplugged/plugged
Pizzicato replied to Scoll's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Can we pleeeeeease get this issue sorted, guys? This issue has been knocking around for seven months now, and it's infuriatingly frustrating and immersion breaking. Some people seem to be "lucky" enough that they can reconnect without restarting, but my only option remains to quit out of DCS and restart, thereby effectively failing whatever mission I'm engaged in. I've had this happen pretty much every 5-10 minutes over the past 3 hours, and it's driving me to distraction. Please get this fixed, guys. :( -
Just flew Training Mission 3 three times to try to figure out what I was doing wrong with the RD mode. Guess I know, now. The good news is that all of those abortive attempts to get the RD have greatly improved my understanding of the other modes. Always look on the bright side. :) Great work on the module and training, guys. It's coming along wonderfully and is definitely one of the finest modules in DCS. Merry Christmas, all. :yay:

Just been flying the Mirage training missions and we seem to be back to the bad old days of not being able to see targets unless you're right on top of them. The two Hawks in the AA training might as well be invisible. :(

Hi guys, I've just updated to the 1.5.5 OB and it appears that the yellow boxes that appear in the various tutorials to show you where to click are missing. I noticed this with both the F-5E and Gazelle tutorials. I was using the Oculus Rift, too, in case that's pertinent.

Thanks for the update, Cyberwings. Unfortunately, I'm a dumbass and still can't find the option. Can you be more specific about where to find it? I'm specifically looking at the key assignments for the Ka-50 and Mi-8 in the latest 2.0 Alpha, but I can't find anything along the lines of "Toggle VR Zoom" in any of the subcategories. I'm probably missing something really obvious, though... EDIT - Found it. I totally missed the fact that "UI Layer" is a category within the Aircraft Selection drop-down. Thanks Cyberwings.

The layman's version is that it's a technique that makes materials (e.g. metal, glass, marble) look more realistic by getting them to respond to more accurately to light. This video isn't the best, but it'll give you the general idea:

One thing I've noticed with the Heading autopilot is that it points the nose in the right direction but doesn't compensate for side-slip. I can counter any slip manually by applying the appropriate rudder inputs, but that disables the autopilot which seems to defeat the purpose. I'm sure I'm misunderstanding something here, but I'm not sure what. How do you guys go about resolving this? On a somewhat related note, is it better and/or more accurate to real life to have the Rudder Trimmer option checked? Would that help in this particular situation?

This is the first confirmation I've seen of this. (I missed the aforementioned comments from the Russian forum and Sith). I am ridiculously, absurdly, retardedly excited about this news. :pilotfly:
