  1. Thanks Bignewy - I'll give that a try. That said, it's still confusing that the infantry unity is perfectly capable of lasing the first three targets, but always fails on the fourth, no? I was looking to create the feel of a special forces unit doing the lasing from ground level, which doesn't seem unreasonable. The arbitrary nature of the issue seems to be more of a bug than a feature. It's not like the infantry units can't lase - they just can't do it consistently.
  2. I'm seeing a similar issue with one of my own missions (attached). I'm carrying four IR Mavs, and I have an (invisible) M4 infantryman serving as FAC on 137.000. The target is a group of 4 ZSU-23 AAA guns at Qeshm airfield in the Persian Gulf. The FAC acknowledges all 4 four targets in the 9-Line, but then only ever targets the first three. He calls out the fourth target, but always says "No Mark" - even if I place the ZSU-23 pretty much right next to him. As a result, I always have to use the Litening pod to lase and destroy the last target in order to complete my tasking. I can't immediately see any reason why the final AAA gun is un-lased every single time. FA-18 Test34..miz
  3. It's been over a year since this issue was raised, but it's still a problem. It's impossible to spawn medium sized aircraft at any Iranian airfields except Shiraz and Kerman, even though there are several others that are large enough to accommodate such aircraft. You can fake it by placing them as static objects, but then you can't get a JTAC to lase them because they'll only lase non-static objects.
  4. Ah! That's fantastic info. Thanks a lot for the link, Gierasimov.
  5. Hey guys, There appears to be an issue where specific TACAN frequencies are interfering with the Hornet's datalink. I set up a simple mission in the Persian Gulf involving a Hornet two-ship, an E-3 Sentry, two F-15s, an S-3 Viking and a pair of Iranian Fulcrums. Only my wingman shows up on the SA page, though. There's are no donor HAFU symbols, and no PPLI information. The mission is attached in the first post in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4041309#post4041309 A few community members took a look at it, and discovered that the issue was caused by me assigning the TACAN frequency 7Y to S-3. Changing it to 70Y fixed the issue and restored all of the SA page symbology.
  6. Thanks for taking the time to look into this and figure out what was going on, guys. Much appreciated. How did you narrow it down to the Tacan frequency, Ramsay? Was it just a process of elimination, or did you already have a suspicion that that was causing the issue? On a related note, is there a range of "good"/valid Tacan frequencies?
  7. Hey guys, I'm having a weird issue with a simple Hornet mission that I created (attached). The issue is that I'm not seeing any symbology or contributions from the other Link-16 equipped aircraft in the mission. There are three allied aircraft in the mission aside from my flight - an E-3, two F-15Cs, and an S-3. The only symbology I see on the SA page, however, is from my own radar contacts. I've turned on the D/L on the UFC, but I'm not seeing anything. I've checked a few of the ED-authored missions, and the SA page is working just fine, so I feel as though I'm failing to set something up correctly in the ME. Any ideas? :noexpression: FA-18 Test32..miz
  8. Updates from the last month and a half: Hardly "nearly abandoned".
  9. I rarely actually use any weapons in the Hornet. I get most of my enjoyment from starting up, taking off, refuelling, and landing (both on carriers and airbases). Bit weird, I guess, but that's what I enjoy the most.
  10. +1 Was just having a nightmare with this in the F-14 Cold Start tutorial
  11. I'm with you on this. I'd love to see a completion column, but not interested in the perks or ranks.
  12. 100% +1 with the OP
  13. Yes - but a non-nuclear explosion can still distribute nuclear material, which is what appears to have happened here.

  15. Wow! That's stunning.
  16. Awesome guide! Massively helpful. This should really be a sticky.
  17. Pre-ordered. Always happy to support ED, and definitely looking forward to a long awaited return to the Falcon. That said, though, I'm definitely starting to reach the point where I'm much more interested in improvements to the simulation environment such as dynamic campaign, better weather, better AI, and better comms versus new EA aircraft. There are only so many aircraft I can stay current on, and having a compelling and immersive environment to fly in is more and more important to me. Just my personal $0.02. YMMV.
  18. Sounds like you may have already done this, but I'd suggest... Go to Options -> Controls -> F/A-18C Sim and then select Axis Commands from the dropdown. DCS World handles analog axes differently to digital inputs. Scroll to the bottom and make sure that Zoom In/Out only has keyboard assignments. You won't be able to check this unless you're looking at the Axis Commands page. The axis info is hidden even if you're looking at the All page. Hope that's helpful. Apologies if that's all old info to you, though.
  19. Hey guys, I created a simple Hornet mission to test AGM-65F IR-guided Mavericks against a convoy of 4 tanks. My wingman spots and announces the presence of the tanks, but when I select Flight -> Engage -> Engage Ground Targets he always responds "Negative" or "Unable". I've tried this mission with the laser-guided -65Es and GBU-12s, and my wingman engages just fine. It's only the -65Fs he seems to have issues with. I've attached the mission and a brief track. Edit 1: I'm running OB 2.5.4.30386 Mission:https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=210811&d=1558928809 Track:https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=210812&d=1558928809 Thanks Pizzi
  20. Hey guys, I created a simple Hornet mission to test AGM-65F IR-guided Mavericks against a convoy of 4 tanks with an MQ-9 Reaper serving as AFAC. When I check in with the Reaper, he announces that he has no further tasking and sends me on my way. :( I've tried this exact same mission with AGM-65E laser-guided Mavs and GBU-12s, and the MQ-9 works perfectly. This issue only seems to arise when I'm carrying the -65Fs. I've also tried having the Reaper set to a variety of weapon-request types (Auto, Guided, and ATGM) and a variety of Designation settings (Auto, No, and WP). The outcome is always the same, though. I've attached the mission, a brief track, and a screenshot from the editor. Edit 1: I'm running OB 2.5.4.30386 Edit 2: Not sure if it's relevant or not, but I announce to the Reaper/AFAC that I'm carrying -65Gs as opposed to the -65Fs that I'm actually carrying. Thanks Pizzi FA-18 Test27 (in flight).miz F18_WingmanIRMavFail.trk
  21. ED. That's why the forum is in the ED section as opposed to the 3rd party section. All the software development happens in Moscow and former Belsimtek office in Belarus. I suspect that the Swiss office exists purely for business/tax purposes.
  22. Not sure how feasible this is, but I'd love to see the option to take "full-resolution" screenshots from VR. My monitor is a 3440 x 1440 ultra widescreen. I keep seeing fantastic vistas during VR that I'd love to capture as potential desktops, but they only capture in the reduced, vertical VR resolution.
  23. Minor issue, but the Mission Editor lists the available runways at Sas Al Nakheel as 16 and 46 (see attached image). I'm assuming that it should actually be 16 and 34, right?
  24. Hi guys, I noticed that Al Dhafra doesn't show up in the Comms menu for some (all?) of the Mission Skills Practice missions in the Strait of Hormuz. This is problematic given that it's frequently your take off and landing base. This issue occurs in at least the Mission Skills Practice - Take Off and Navigation mission and the Mission Skills Practice - Air to Air Radar mission. I almost certainly affects more of them, but I haven't checked them all. After a little exploration, I discovered the issue - a rogue Russian An-26 in one of the parking slots at the NW corner of the base. I deleted this object from both missions, and confirmed that Al Dhafra does indeed become available in the Comms menu again. I've attached an image showing the offending object. Seems like this is worth addressing, as I could see it causing frustration and confusion for anyone trying to practice the Hornet's basic avionics.
  25. The Falcon has a better kill ratio versus Californian warehouses than the Hornet.
