An excellent purchase when you do so! You'll get plenty of enjoyment from it I'm sure. The simple answer to both your questions is, yes. While the buttons and switches tend to stay the same as much as possible for all aircraft I fly (helps to not have to relearn each and every plane), I tend to change those on the base of the throttle to whatever I wish. "L/G WRN" for example, tends to be Master Caution. EAC switch tends to be refueling probe for those that have them. Point being, you're free to make them whatever you wish.

To be a little more specific, the blue circles represent surface-to-air units. The blue shaded area is indicating the engagement area those units can see. This shaded area will change as you change elevation and terrain mask. If you see yourself moving into the blue shaded area, it's time for you to take serious note of your surroundings, as bad shit is about to happen soon if you don't

Current or planned state of DCS World Electromagnetic Warfare???
Baaz replied to GumidekCZ's topic in DCS Core Wish List
OP is asking for clarification, why is this moved to "Wishlist"? -
Not to speak for Lex, but from my own experience, clouds in DCS are not synced between players. What one person sees is not the same as the other. Trying to use the clouds in DCS to gain or take away an advantage is pointless, as you're opponent may not even see clouds at all.

Current or planned state of DCS World Electromagnetic Warfare???
Baaz replied to GumidekCZ's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The statement I made about a "paywall" is referring specifically to electronic warfare. It seems you saw the image and where it came from, and completed disregarded the outlined section. Furthermore, if you read my post #42 within this thread, you would see I understand "the nature of business." You would also see why I am quite disturbed if ED opts to go down the road of putting basic fundamental things such as EW and radar behind a "paywall" (yes I said it). As @Fri said, and I agree with, there's ways for ED to recoup the costs, but charging for something that affects every module in the game is not the way to do it. ED still claims this is a "free to play" game, right? If it literally effects every module in the game, it should fall under the "free to play" aspect. When those of us who have been with ED some 5+ years (a little over 7 myself), and who probably own every module you offer like I do, and are averaging $29+ a month in support, charging for something as fundamental as radar and EW that effects every module in a "free to play" game, it starts to look a bit like greed. I've quit playing games when spending half that much; and yet I still remain loyal to ED. EDIT: I've also stated in the other thread specifically talking IADS, that I would back the development if it was to be an upgrade to the current Combined Arms. Paying full price for a module like DCS: IADS is absurd when the current DCS: World ME and Combined Arms module can do almost the exact same thing, and is even more capable with the current IADS script. -
I don't know about the overall percentage, but can state that I'm able to refuel the Harrier, Hornet, and Viper. After all these years I still can't do the A-10, as I get too fixated on the boom instead of the big picture.

Current or planned state of DCS World Electromagnetic Warfare???
Baaz replied to GumidekCZ's topic in DCS Core Wish List
While a true statement, and one I will fully back up, there is a line that should not be crossed. After buying every module ED offers on their E-Shop, I expect, based on promises made by ED when they sold their module(s), that certain things to be a part of the module(s); working radar, and electronic warfare capabilities for those modules that have them. Now it seems, after collecting not just my money but everyone who is in the same boat as I, including yourself I'm almost sure of @QuiGon, rather than fix those modules individually ED is going to charge us an additional fee to fix their module(s) as a whole. Why? Because even though it was promised when ED sold us the module(s), and ED knew just how complex the subject matter was when they sold us the module(s), ED now realizes they aren't going to make any money fixing the issues they knew they had when they sold us the module(s). So, now it would seem that ED is going to lump the fixing of radar and electronic warfare into two separate modules, and charge us for something we've already paid for. Something as fundamental as radar and electronic warfare in a combat simulator, something that has an affect on every module in the game, shouldn't be placed behind a paywall when ED knew the situation going into it, and made a promise to include it in the module(s) when they collected everyone's money. Why people can't see what is happening, and insist that this practice is ok, boggles my mind. I admit I was once an ED fanboy who believed they could do no wrong. Since May 2013 I have gobbled up every module ED has offered, and then some, with the idea that I was supporting ED. 90% of all campaigns I have bought I have yet to even touch. Even though I purchased them at the time of early release, I have yet to fly half the Warbirds. I have purchased aircraft modules and maps for friends to try and get them interested in DCS. I'm going to throw even more money at ED with the coming releases of the Hind and Kiowa. And in the future even more money as more and more maps and modules are released. As it stands right now, since November 2016 I average $29.72 a month in support to ED. But I cannot, and will not stand paying for a module that fixes something as fundamental as radar and electronic warfare in a combat flight simulator; especially after paying for it once already upon the module(s) release. -

TrackIR is unique to each individual using it. Greatly depends on where you have the sensor, height of the sensor, distance from you to the sensor, how much you want to have to move your head, etc. etc. It is not a simple plug and play. It takes a great deal of fine tuning to get it to where you are comfortable. For example, when I first got it, I spent over 3 hours just tuning it before I ever got into the sim, then fine tuned it some more once I loaded up DCS. As for the lag and stutters, while I'm no expert, I would say it's probably more your computer and DCS than TrackIR; as it doesn't use a lot of juice to run it. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Try fine tuning it some more and see the reaction you get from each little correction you make. Good luck. EDIT: Something else that needs to be considered, make sure you don't have any windows or mirrors behind you, as the sun and mirror reflection can play hell with TrackIR.

To my knowledge, this has always been the way. The repair does just that; it repairs the aircraft. It does not reset the aircraft to it's default start condition. You will notice if you just do a default LWin+End shutdown, and then repair, not all switches are returned to default start. Therefore, upon landing, since you did not reset trim after touchdown, after repair you will still have the trim set as it were at touchdown.

There is a manual specific to F-5 weapons delivery. It's over 600 pages. A simple Google search for "F-5 Weapons Delivery" will give you all that you need. Check specifically Section 6, pages 117-142. Then you'll realize why it's not in the manual. Hint, there is no simple launch parameter. You have to understand how every degree of dive, every knot of speed, and the altitude at which you drop will effect the bomb. The manual will get you in the ballpark; but you will still need to practice, and practice a lot. EDIT: Just realized this very manual is available under DCS' download section: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1946809/

make the super carrier and WW II asset pack part of the main program
Baaz replied to upyr1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Since we're on the subject of WWII, consider this: No one forced ED to create the coming Marianas Map. My understanding is that they are doing something special to allow the map to change based on date set in the ME. But we don't have a single unit yet that covers WWII era in this theater other than the P-51 and P-47. So, again, they're giving me the map, the toys to fly around in, but if I want something to shoot at, I project I'm going to be expected to buy a "Pacific Theater Asset Pack". Kind of BS in my opinion if it holds true; a bit like getting a car with no engine, wheels, or doors. -
make the super carrier and WW II asset pack part of the main program
Baaz replied to upyr1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'm actually split on this. Having to pay for the super carrier, Yep, everyone who wants it should pay for it. After all, you have the Stennis if you just want to conduct simple carrier ops. However, I argue in favor of having WWII asset pack as part of the base DCS World game. Imagine if, in the beginning, ED created DCS World with just the Caucasus map, and gave you an A-10 to fly around the map. Then imagine if they said, "If you want something to shoot at, you'll have to pay extra for that." Well, in a sense, that's exactly what they did when they created the warbirds. So, again, I'm actually split on this matter. -
After about an hour's worth of testing, I can tell you there's some sort of logic to it. Unfortunately, it's not a consistent 30 minutes after sunrise, and 30 minutes before sunset. Actual Sunrise/Sunset times gathered from here: https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/russia/sochi?month=10&year=2020 Unfortunately, DCS's sunrise/sunset times don't match, and therefore the +/- 30 minutes before and after for Case 1/3 switches don't jive either. 02 AUG 2020 Actual Sunrise: 05:11 -- In-game Case 3 to Case 1 Switch: 06:32 -- 1:21 after Sunrise Actual Sunset: 19:42 -- In-game Case 1 to Case 3 Switch: 20:22 -- 0:40 AFTER Sunset 02 SEP 2020 Actual Sunrise: 05:45 -- In-game Case 3 to Case 1 Switch: 07:05 -- 1:20 after Sunrise Actual Sunset: 18:54 -- In-game Case 1 to Case 3 Switch: 19:36 -- 0:42 AFTER Sunset 02 OCT 2020 Actual Sunrise: 06:20 -- In-game Case 3 to Case 1 Switch: 07:38 -- 1:18 after Sunrise Actual Sunset: 17:59 -- In-game Case 1 to Case 3 Switch: 18:42 -- 0:43 AFTER Sunset So again, just what does DCS view as sunrise and sunset?
-
That's the problem, DCS in general doesn't appear to follow this logic. Example: IRL, 02 August 2020, Sochi-Adler, Sunrise 5:11 AM. DCS, 02 August 2020, Sochi-Adler, 5:31 AM it's still nearly pitch black with just a hint of sunrise. So, my question really is, what time does DCS view as sunrise and sunset? Is it a hard 09:00 and 21:00, 365/366 days a year, or is there an actual calculation to it?

@Fri I think making the L-39 free is a horribly bad idea. 1. Far too many people have already paid for it. Making it free now would cause an uproar and have people demanding refunds. 2. You're asking someone who: (a) has probably never played DCS before, (b) is a bit uncertain as to where to even begin, © potentially scared of getting involved in multiplayer because of (a) and (b), to now beg someone for a ride. Personally, I like the T-2 or T-45 idea as it gives the potential for a newbie to gain both land and naval experience. But, I leave it up to ED to decide.

Does anyone actually know when the switch is suppose to take place? In order to not screw up communications, what's the earliest I can have a mission start to not have a conflict? And in the same respect, what's the latest I can end a mission? Like Nealius, I like my dusks and dawns, but it's playing hell on communications. Being told Case I in affect, but having to deal with Case III comms, or vice versa, is getting a bit old. Thanks. EDIT: For the sake of argument, lets just assume we're talking about a typical clear day/night.
