Inject a bind for HUD intensity rocker?
Baaz replied to imacken's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Yep, that works. I've been thinking about picking one of those up too. -

Pick yourself up one of these, and enjoy: https://www.buddy-fox.com/ -
We Want To Hear Your Ideas For A New Map In DCS!
Baaz replied to danielzambaux's topic in DLC Map Wish List
These areas sound good to me. I'm just tired of desert. I'm not a huge fan of large open expanses of water, though I can deal with it. Sure it needs to be big enough for carrier ops, but does it really have to cover the entire South China Sea? I am first and foremost a helicopter fan, anyone can fly a plane - -
Talk about comparing apples to oranges to coconuts. Of those you mention, the F-5 also has the lowest TWR due to its relatively weak engines. if you keep your speed =>350, you can pretty much do what you want with her. Many pilots like to keep flaps in auto mode, which in my opinion is a bad habit. If you're not prepared, the auto deployment of flaps will bleed your speed fast.

Would you want ANY heavy aircraft modules for DCS?
Baaz replied to Wing's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'm waiting for the day they announce a C-17. -
Give me the ability to put smoke rockets on her, and I'd be happy to fly recon all day.

Animated Plane Captain/Crew Chief/Ground Crew
Baaz replied to Phoschek's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I do believe you are correct. I think ED stated once things were closer to final with the SC, they would move on to improving airfields. For now, I use the static deck crew personnel to give the airfield some life (blue shirt wing walkers, and yellow shirts for plane captain/crew chief. For the time being we gotta make do with what we have, right? -
Client Aircraft Visible even when no one in role
Baaz replied to CallsignPunch's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Be careful what you wish for. With planes visible, they'll be subject to strafing and clog the airfield making it unusable by anyone in MP until a cleanup or server reset can be accomplished. Don't get me wrong, I feel your pain when looking at an empty airfield when on servers made by people who don't give it much thought. When I make a mission I try to have, at a minimum, 20% of the slots filled with static planes, personnel, and equipment. The fewer the number of clients, the higher the number of statics. At large airfields like Anderson or Nellis, I try to fill them with as many large bodies as I can; as they are visible from further away. -
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but much of what you're asking for is already possible with ground based recon units if you have Combined Arms. See attachment. While looking through the binoculars of a HMMWV Jeep, as you can see, you can get range, elevation and bearing to target. In the image we're lasing with 1688 which will be seen at night with NVGs, and the target coordinates are visible. You can even switch to IR imaging. With that information, you should be able to quite easily get someone on target if they know their aircraft. If all else fails, you can even (quite unrealistically) put smoke on the target.

If they plan the ability to make waypoints for your flights in MP, the briefing room will be gold plated in my opinion.

ah yes, sorry, I did forget about the helicopter naming requirements. Happy to hear you were able to figure it out.

did you create a "pickzone1" and "logistic1" trigger zone? You'll need the pickzone to pickup troops, logistic1 for vehicles and such, if I remember correctly.

investigating G overload damage limit decreases with the increase of speed
Baaz replied to Northwind's topic in Bugs and Problems
Exactly this. -
@=475FG= DawgerMost of us don't treat our sticks like you clearly do. Skin coming off is a good indication you're pulling too hard. Learn some self control, and learn to do it the right way.

If you read the OP's statements, he's not calling for destructible trees, only that the weapons fired shouldn't be stopped by them. I do agree that trees should be destructible, but allowing missiles, bullets, and the like to pass without detonation is a whole different argument. Edit: My statement, "trees are fine, leave them alone," I admit was said in error. Trees are fine in terms of stopping munitions, but they should be destructible.

I've probably got more seat time in an F-5 than any other bird aside from helos. I've never experienced the wings just ripping off. I guess I'm doing something wrong... or right, depending on your perspective. When I'm listening to the pilot sucking in oxygen and the plane starts buffeting, I know I'm pulling a lot of G's, and ease off on the stick. Simple as that. No need to look at G-meters, airspeed or anything. Learn to keep your head out of the cockpit and just listen to what the pilot and plane is telling you. Never have to worry about stalling when you do this also, as she'll pretty much be between 300-400 knots easily.
-
Also, he was flying on Neveda and you're flying on the Caucasus Map. Some time ago (think it was with 2.0 release), ED doubled the size of trees and reduced their numbers to help improve performance. To help give perspective, it use to be while doing CSAR you would hover about 15m off the deck to pull a guy out of the trees; Now you have to be about 45m. With everything appearing bigger, it also means you're appearing to be moving slower.

Oh man, YES! 1000 times YES!!
-
I'm not so worried about this to be honest. As a helo pilot I'm always flying below treetop level, and usually hovering in the trees with blades just above. Most low flying planes won't even notice you as they are too busy looking for the dot; which they won't see because your dot is below the treetops. If I take a shot and hit a tree, I put blame on myself, not the tree. I should have positioned myself better, or anticipated the vehicle getting behind a tree before impact. Now, lets flip the coin. Being a helo pilot in the trees as stated, there's been quite a few times where a tree has saved me as well. TL:DR, trees are fine, leave them alone.

As much as I am drooling over a Vietnam map, looking at performance on the Marianas tells me we're nowhere near where we need to be to make Vietnam considerable.
-
Please no. I understand for the younger generation the Gulf Wars and Afghanistan may be all they really know of, but please, no more desert sand maps. Anything green and coastal before another desert. Far to much sand in my drawers already.
-
Please, no. No more sand.
-
For a map that has 97% water, framerates tank to 15-20 on Marianas. Can you imagine an entire map populated with trees and the likes of the Marianas? As much as I agree and desire the same as you, I don't think we're there yet; fingers crossed though.
