DCS: F-16CM Block 50 by EDSA Discussion Thread
Smoked replied to NineLine's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Guys I am pleased to announce a Discord channel for the F-16. This is a group for everyone who loves this jet and is excited for its release. Please keep conversations civil and optimistic. This is a simple group for talking about this iconic platform, having fun, and promoting virtual squadrons. Enjoy.. https://discord.gg/Cbbmvhd -
Solid work guys! Very much appreciated!

^^^^This^^^^^ On an active multiplayer server with multiple 18's and Harriers hitting it for fuel you can run it dry pretty quick...
-
Thats one sound I wish they would capture.

The VMA-231 is looking for dedicated Harrier pilots. We are apart of CSG-1 with a group close to 70 pilots total. We have our own 24/7 dedicated server. We are a very active community and have pilots online flying throughout the day. Our official training nights are Sunday and Tuesday evenings (EST). We run campaigns and dedicated training nights. Want to learn more. give us a shout.. https://www.vvma-231.com/

Yeah let me work on that tomorrow. It might be the mission who knows... I will get with my guy who made it and work with him. It very well could be the VR NVG mod we are using as well... Need to turn that off and go test it again...
-
Its pretty much practice... The cliche of practice makes perfect is so true. Having a good lead helps as well... Start off with the tanker, set a map with that thing flying straight and level and spawn your jet behind him. Set the tankers course for the full map or as long as you can and practice flying off of it. It should be fairly stable and no turns. AI tanker track turns ar not that bad they can be kinda abrupt though. Easiest way to do it though is MP with someone who knows how to flight lead, fly form, and can walk you through your paces. Help you setup proper positioning and then give you feed back. Remember its easier to fly close in parade then it is far out (for me at least)... After a while you're moving the stick and don't even realize you're doing it... you're just flying formation.. Edit to add: Setup your pitch and roll axis with some curves and consider some dead zone. I run mine at 12 for both with no dead zone so your MMV.

Read my original post... Blinding was hitting all on the server... When the harriers "marked" a target it would cause this issue... (not the invisible IR) JTAC spotting a target... caused this issue... I noticed in a SP night mission weird artifact when pointing a target out and could not see the beam until it passed either my 9 or 3 o'clock position. Might be a driver update, but I believe that I am current, plus it effected everyone on the server.. Side note... we are all in VR as well..
-
Might be just you.... AI should be pretty stable unless you have them turning, then that is usually sporadic. I would get into a MP with a squadron and work with someone who can give you some guidance, reference points, etc...
-
We are a dedicated harrier Squadron within the CSG-1 group... Look us up on Discord..
-
This!!! Several of our harrier guys have reported the same thing... Works great on the Hornet and the A-10.... The Harrier is a no-go unless you run a program and give it keyboard commands then its basically up/down left/right for TDC action. Looks like its a coding issue on the Harrier... Razbam or ED? Who knows what code is not playing right... but its an issue that has been in the Harrier.

While running a MP mission the other night we had some issues with the laser pointer either from a JTAC or another harrier blinding people under NVG's in the harrier. This was on the NTTR map and have not had the chance to test it on other maps. Basically whenever you look at the target being painted by a JTAC or a harrier with the TPOD set too "mark" it would cause a blinding effect on the other pilots to the point that you had to turn off your NVG's. Regular lasers didn't seem to have an issue. Wondered if this was something that others are dealing with, a Harrier issue... or a general ED issue...

Thanks guys... Its really just building blocks and practice... I have gotten several new members able to get to this point in a few flights with practice and how I step them up to it... Building blocks.. overhead break and approach trying to get it the same every time.. fly the pattern with 60 nozzles and hold that all the way to the boat. Fly through the hover stop and do a wave off the first few times.. Set your STO stop for 80-81 on the nozzles so you can slap it into that angle and not have to fidget with it... Several things help me in this video... One... LHA is moving into the wind... two.. there is wind...lol.. Three... TRIM TRIM TRIM... Trying to do this with no headwind or LHA movement does make it harder... If you're going to practice this I would recommend setting it up that way. This is on our CSG server so its a constant for us that makes it easier. If you have questions shoot me a message or hit us up on Discord... We are always looking for dedicated Harrier pilots.
-
Like others have said... TRIM!!! cant over emphasize this enough... here is a video of me coming into the LHA... Its not picture perfect but you get the idea. (also I am working on my resolution to get the recording better)... I run a 12 on my WH curve with no dead zone.
-
Not modeled. Hopefully soon..
-
Correct... After the recent update, you have to take them off of "safe" in the ACP...
-
One of those "not YET fixed" but will be awesome when it is. I find myself complaining about this jet then I step back and realize its still EA and they have actually come a long way since its initial release.
-
Just keep at it. Several things made it easier for me... First, practice. Tanking is pretty easy now. Second. Get stable behind the tanker with trim and speed. Like it has been said, boards in, cruise flaps, and work the throttle. Try some curves. I had a hell of a time until I got some curves added into my cyclic. Finally, don't try and stop at the end of the basket. Aim to drive through the basket and push it up a 10-15 feet once you get connected. This allows you to stay connected easier and gives you some front to back motion. Once connected remember you're taking on weight, meaning more throttle while tanking and more nose trim to keep the nose up. Be ready for that.. edit to add... Looks like the blurriness is heat blur off of the tankers engines.

Can't join multiplayer 2.5 stuck in loading or lobby or black cockpit

That might be the issue but I know many people that have rigs way above the specs that are having these issues. -
Can't join multiplayer 2.5 stuck in loading or lobby or black cockpit
Smoked replied to Jaakov's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
Same issues for me.... Sorta. It doesn't take long for me to load in. I can fly for about 3-4 minutes, then the black screen crash. Happens in VR or if I am running track-ir. My specs.. Windows 10 64 i7 4.2 DDR4 32gb ssd 1080ti. 50mbs down with 10 up from my ISP. server I fly on pings in the 70-80's Clearly not my system specs... Also I have my settings turned WAY down. I get a server disconnect message when it crashes and a whole slew of failed to load object messages. Screen goes black and I have to hard stop and start DCS... The times this has happened I have ping the server with no packet loss and I have done this on multiple servers. The 104, Aero, ours (CSG-1) and STP. All the same issues. I have repaired beta multiple times... etc... -
Multiplayer desync for multiple minutes continously
Smoked replied to TAW_Blaze's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
I am beginning to wonder the same thing. Our community is noticing these issues on a regular basis -
I have the same disconnect issue while running that file. We have MULTIPLE guys throughout our DCS community that do as well, they are running that file too. It seems since 2.5 DCS has gotten buggy as hell in the multiplayer realm almost to the point of being unplayable. 5+ people on a server and the lag is so horrific. It might be a server setting. We are looking into that. However I feel with the issue so widespread that its more of a DCS issue.

The VMA-231 is a Harrier detachment of the CSG-1. We are accepting applications for our Squadron. We have our own dedicated server and utilize SRS in game and Discord to coordinate flights and training. We ask you to be 18+ and in the US. Consideration will be given to other nationalities. This is simply due to the times that we host our missions and training flights. Our mission times are Sunday evenings at 2030 EST with Training flights scheduled for Tuesday evenings at 2030 EST. We are also very flexible on adding additional training flights throughout the week as needed. We utilize real world tactics and have a host of squadrons that come together to help out on mission nights, including JTACS and ATC. We make it real and fun. We also have an F-18 detachment in reserve status, the VMFA-112. Check us out. https://www.vvma-231.com our Discord... https://discord.gg/kPjJcnw

Are you running a curve on your rudder or is it a linear input? I found out in the beginning that the rudder was way to sensitive in a linear line for the axis command. Added a curve of 20 (I think its 20) and it helped out significantly.
