Gotta say, I find the Mossie easier to get off the ground than the Spit once all the "aids" are disable and all control bindings are correct, etc. She's a big old girl but she's got a lot of power

GBU-10 is where it's at for boats!
-
If it can be bound, I shall bind it! The pilot body and Joystick always return when I respawn in MP. This is especially annoying in the Tomcat as the stick hides the lower display.
-
Genius!!! I think we found a Pancake Peasant! I don't use it - but it is enabled by default so I have to get out of VR to find ctrl-p every damn time. I'd love an option to disable the pilot body (and joystick) so it never appears.
-
Well, it would make some players green and yellow with envy, that's for sure. But another version of the best and most beautiful plane of WW2 could never be a waste of effort! This! and the Spit XIV so we can play 1944 scenarios.

I wish you could permanently disable this feature.

We need the bomber version too. With Cookies. Oh yes!

I, for one, don't use mods. I do get the issue.

Amiens/Jericho style!

Hi, I'm considering getting into FFB for the Tomcat. I don't usually pull the wings off, but when I do I have a human RIO and it gets a bit frustrating. Does the FFB on the F14 help people know when the aero loads are high and help you to feel the jet a bit better? If it's just rumbles for weapon launch and gear moving I won't bother. thanks!
-
Yep, the original question is about VR being penalised vs 2D. I think that without spotting dots it's much harder to find planes in VR. My only evidence is flying an F14 in VR with a human RIO using a flat screen TV. He spots a/c way before I do.
-
I think 5nm is too close, but I can agree that 20nm is optimistic. I'd compromise at 10nm for a WW2 fighter for spotting dots and the 3D model builds around/ontop of the spotting dot. I think colour is also important. Black dots are easy to spot, they should be similar to the colour of the target so there's good chance they'll be lost against the ground anyway. In any event, the targets should be visible to VR users just as they are to 50" TV users. Do we know how far away that jet was?
-
My issue is the mid-range between spotting dot and 3D model. If I fly straight at another plane there's a definite phase when the 3D model is invisible/very hard to spot before the range falls enough and the target grows enough to be seen.

https://www.uploadvr.com/developer-gets-playstation-vr2-eye-tracking-working-on-pc/ It seems that an open-source dev with a good track record, Whatdahopper, has got some good early results in enabling eye tracking for the PSVR2 on PC. IF it comes to pass... this could be very exciting!

Yes, it turns a pretty comfortable headset into a very comfortable headset and, perhaps more importantly, it comes with plenty of options to suit different head shapes and preferences.

F14 not authorized / antivirus / false positive
Morat replied to Semaphore's topic in Bugs and Problems
Multiple AV products are detecting this file as a virus, why did this pass QA? Do you think games coders expect that users should trust their products over and above AV software? Don't be so ridiculous. AV is there for a reason, and any properly coded application should at least be tested to ensure it doesn't trigger detection or if it does the developers should contact the AV companies before they put their customers in a bad position like this. -

This is getting detected by multiple AV programs, the answer should not be to disable AV but for ED/HB to fix it. ED don't get to say that their software is forever beyond suspicion and they should be excluded from AV scans. That's piss poor. -
My experience has been positive and I'm keeping this HMD for this generation. I get a very steady 60FPS unless I use F10 too often and then I get dropped to 20 or so which is grim, but clearly a DCS issue and not limited to the PSVR2. Comfort with the Globular Cluster mods is really good. The only HMD I would consider now is https://en.shiftall.net/products/meganex8k but I'd need more CPU (from 13700) and probably more GPU (from 4080) to run it and it's already super expensive. I'm going to call VR done for now and look at FFB next.

F-14A/B has sometimes a locked, wired up ACM when starting mid air.
Morat replied to Buzzer1977's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The thing that amazes me is that the filthy cockpit show by Heatblur is realistic! Didn't they have cleaning products in the USN back then? hah. -
I've had a search around but I haven't found an answer to using the ingame voicecomms to set up a PTT intercom when fly multicrew in the might Tomcat. I get that I'd need two PTT set, but that's fine by me. Ideally we'd use Radio mode, but if there's a room option that might be interesting too? If anyone uses a similar set up and is happy to share settings I'd be grateful.

So what is the 'real' throw of the F-14 throttle?
Morat replied to Nightdare's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I don't have an AB detente set up because I also fly A10 a lot. It seems there's quite a lot of dry power left between "10" on the engine speed gauges and actual 100% mil power. Having said that, it still shoots off the boat just fine and I don't even need full mil for takeoffs from a runway. -
The hardest part of ACLS is getting lined up perfectly on course, on speed, configured, correct altititude, auto-throttle enabled everything switched on... man it's a workload and the boat gets closer really fast! If/When I get ACLS to take over, it lands fine.
-
Well, that's not really a carrier landing TOMCAT!!! (I jest!)
-
Fair enough. I shall ask for the grace to accept that which I cannot change In the meantime, I do feel that bugs capable of inducing genuine nausea should get some priority. Maybe I'm a dreamer!

That's a lot of copium to minimise a game destroying bug. This needs to be fixed or ED will lose players. I know they don't actually care about that financially since this is a vanity project but if they want it to be credible they need to fix stuff.
