DCS is a hardcore sim and such assistence has nothing to do in DCS. If you want arcade flying the go to warthunder or so. Yes it requires practice and a couple of weeks ago I thought it’s impossible. Now I do it easily even on tanker banks. I just practiced. If someone does not practice then it’s their fault. DCS is not a game it’s a sim. If ED think they need to do it then leave it SP only. In MP it would be simply a cheat

I must correct myself. In the meantime I am able to refuel the F-18 every time. No training no tipps could solve this problem. The only thing that helped was upgrading from my old X-55 to a Thrustmaster Warthog F18 Stick. The precision is worlds apart and its so much easier now. But it shouldnt be that way as not everyone can afford a 300€ joystick.

I need to try an Index because reading all the mfds by just glancing wasn't possible in the rift S either. So looking straight at the hud you can read the distance from course on the f18 hsi when on the right hand MFD, solely by moving your eyes? yes but I also have a very high super sampling and pd enabled. The index has a very big sweetspot and you don’t need to move ur head around like in the rift. For me combined with the massive fov the index feels like watching around without a hmd. It’s the closest to natural vision

The transition from near 4k 2D to VR is still quite a world of difference even when not using "a budget hmd" the requirement to look at gauges or MFDs by way of moving your head as opposed to just glancing with your eyes does take some getting used to. For me when I first tried VR this was most apparent when trying to read the distance from course line on the F18 hsi. And this is still the same on my G2, albeit obviously far clearer than the Rift S, however after a while I just got used to it. Because the g2 has a very small sweetspot. I don’t have this issue with my index. I can keep my head centered at the hud and read all mfds without moving my head by just moving my eyes. For me the index is much more advanced than the g2. Yes it has a higher resolution but it falls behind in every other aspect

Rift s is a budget hmd. What did you expect. Get an index or reverb

well to be fair with a low res headset like the rift s you can get decent frames out of the 1080ti. But once I switched to the index it fell apart

Index here and I will never replace it for a g2. I run DCS on 200% super sampling, most settings to high and a PD of 1.5. I have no performance issues thanks to the 3090 and the visuals are awesome. I can read everything in every mfd easily and spot targets. But the main point is the massive fov. It’s so much more importent than resolution.

I had a 1080ti and performance in vr was terrible. i bought a 3070 and performance was bad. then I bought a 3090 and have never had to think about performance again

if they make a f4 with hud and mfds I would buy it. But not a version without I don’t really care what he has to say. In the end it’s what I like personally to fly and that is modern computers

It’s planned. First version will be on the super carrier where you can walk to your plane from the briefing room

your are correct. There are only 3 planes left that guarantee mass market sales. F15, EF and F22. Everything else is niche. I don’t understand why they did not reserve the F15 for themselfs but gave it to razbam who never will get it ready as it seems. I didn’t even buy the F14 because it’s too old for me. Not even a real hud. And then I am asked to buy an F4 or F111? Not gonna happen. Same with MiG29. A S or K variant would be an instant buy, but an A model? No thx
